SIX MEDFORD (OREGON) KAIL TRIBUNE Thursday. September 6, 1356 New Traffic Citation Forms Now in Use Ciy traffic violations v,iil bo handf d g.-f on instead of pink ticket- from now on. The change is a result of adoption by the Mcdford police department of a new citation form, put in use for thp f.rt time la?t night. The form, which Chief Charle? Charr.plin says is used in sev eral othf r Oregon cities in cluding Portland and Eugene, was drawn up some time ago by a joint committee of the Ameri can Bar a-ociation and the In ternational Association of Chiefs of Police. It is made to fit as well as possible the needs of both the police and the courts. In the past, traffic cases have been re jected by courts because of in adequate citation forms. Parking meter tickets are un changed. The original copy of the new citation form goes to the traffic court and serves as the legal complaint; the first carbon copy j given to the viola tor as his summons; the second carbon is the officer's copy, and the third carbon is kept in the police traffic violation files. The new ticket is long and rectangular in shape. Patrolmen merely check from a list of viola tions and a!.-o a list of "con siderations that increased the seriousness of violation," such as "darkness, slippery pavement, or causing peron to dodge. ' Letler Receiver To Open at Summit Australia The poslmasliT Keneral at Victoria, Australia has announced that the letter re ceiver at the summit of Mt. Kosciusko. New South Wales, will be open after Dec. 24. All letters posted at this box by tourists during the summer tourins season will be especially postmarked with a pictoral type of hand postmarker. It will in clude the words. "The Summit. Mt. Kosciusko. N.S.W.. Roof of Australia" and also indicate the hcisht above sea level. 7,308 Icet. The service will be pro vided from Dec. 24. 1D56 to Feb. 28. 1957. Stamp collectors desiring to obtain impressions of the post mark may send self-addressed stamped envelopes to the direc tor, posts and trlesraphs (phila telic bureau) C. P.O.. New Applegate Bridge Reported Now in Use Grants Pass Although not of ficially onencd. the new Apple gate bridce on the Redwood highway is now be in a used by the public. The painting of the stripes on ihe pavement has not been completed according to J. C. Bromley, local maintenance sunorintendent for the Oregon State Highway department.
