(Brainerd photos) Auxiliary Plans Coming Events; Sale Announced Shady Covt Coming events were planned at the last meeting of the auxiliary to Steelhead post, Veterans of Foreign Wars. The group will hold a bazaar and rummage sale in the hall August 23-25, the sale to include books, hand work, plants and clothing. Those wishing to do nate to the sale are asked to leave the articles at the home of Mrs. Jim Hopkins. Trail, or Mrs. Harry Birch, Medford. It was reported that Mrs. Polly Hammond is conducting Cub Scout meetings for the summer, a:d that Mrs. Jess Flenner was appointed chairman of a special ways and means committee. Mrs. Dan Krotz and Mrs. Har ry Birch reported that they had visited the Grants Pass auxiliary, and Mrs. Birch also visited the Rogue River auxiliary. A hunters' shoot was an nounced for September 23 on the Tiller-Trail road, and a mas querade dance has been set for October 27. Post and auxiliary members joined for refreshments follow ing the meetings, with Mrs. Rich ard Atkins and Mrs. Hopkins serving. The workshop for Region V, which includes Curry, Josephine, Jackson, Klamath and Lake counties, will be held August 22 at Klamath Falls in the new Klamath county library from 1 until 4 p.m. Mrs. L. T. Fisher. Portland. the Congress program service chairman, who recently attend ed a two-day program work shop in San Francisco given by the Nattional Congress of Par ents and Teachers, and Dr.' Ray. mond Lowe, the Congress parent education chairman, will con duct the series. Dr. Lowe formerly was asso ciated with the National Con gress of Parents and Teachers and the Montana Congress of Parents and Teachers. State board members have been as signed to attend the workshon in their region to serve as re source people. All officers and chairman of PTA units and interested per sons are invited to attend. Daughertys Hold Family Reunion A family reunion was held at the F. A. Daugherty home, 2251 Kings highway, Sunday, Aug. 5. Their four daughters were pres ent for the occasion, Mrs. J. H. Hutchins of Ketchikan, Alaska; Mrs. Russell Acheson of Bend; Mrs. Leona Gilensky, and Mrs. Shirrell Doty. Mrs. Daugherty s mother, Mrs. Harriett Arnold of Carthage, Mo., was also present. Others present Sunday were J. H. Hutchins and daughters, Candace and Alison; Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Faust and son, Jeffry, of Madison, Wise; Russell Ache son and children, Kenneth and Susan: Wilson, Patricia, and Joyce Gilensky; and Shirrell Do ty and sons, David and Thomas. Mrs. Arnold left for Vancouv er, Wash., to visit other relativ es while the Hutchins left for Oxnard, Calif., to visit Mr. Hut chins' mother, Mrs. Ethel Hutch ins, a former resident of Med ford. The Achesons are also former residents of Medford. Mr. Acheson is the principal of Bend Senior High school. Use Tribune Want Ads Easy, Just Dial 2-614 Theta Rho Girls' Club Institutes Charter Here Omicron chapter of Theta Rho Girls' club of Oregon was insti tuted in Medford Saturday, August 4, at ceremonies held in Med ford IOOF hall. Theta Rho is an organization for girls and young women sponsored by the Rebekah lodge. The group is actually a re vival of Theta Rho here since Omicron chapter was organized and operated for several years in the late 1930's and early 1940 s. Fourteen girls were initiated Saturday afternoon at a special meeting in the lodge hall. Beta Sigma of Theta Rho Girls con ducted the initiation, assisted by members of Beta Chi club. Cen tral Point. The Ashland mem bers were accompanied by their advisor, Mrs. Elna May Gibson. The institution was conducted by Mrs. Isabelle Hall, Waldport, vice-chairman of the joint youth committee, jurisdiction of Ore gon, of the IOOF and Rebekah lodges. She was assisted by Mrs. Stella LaManquais, Ashland, Southern Oregon representative of the youth committee, as insti tuting marshal, and Miss Caro line Leaders of Olive Rebekah lodge, Medford, as musician. Mrs. J. D. Brummond, noble grand of Olive Rebekah lodge, gave the address of welcome and the response was by Miss Gladys Barger, Beta Tau club, Grants Pass. Installation of officers for Omicron club was conducted by Miss Virginia Callahan, Myrtle Creek, president of Theta Rho assembly in Oregon. She was as sisted by Mrs. R. L. Winn, Ash land, who served as marshal. Mrs. Winn is a charter member of the original Omicron club. Miss Pat Gibson of the Ash land chapter was installing chap lain, and Miss Leaders again served as musician. Mrs. Jesse Thomasson was pre sented her commission as ad visor of Omicron chapter, and Mrs. Riley Applegate was com missioned assistant advisor. Harley Looney, Portland, chairman of the joint youth committee, addressed the assem blage. He spoke on the history and purpose of Theta Rho club. Other members of the commit tee present were Mrs. Hall, vice chairman; Mrs. Looney, Mrs. Le Manquais and William H. Thompson, Portland. Distinguished guests included Robert Massey, Salem, past master of the IOOF lodge in Ore gon;. Wilford Beard, Salem, grand warden; George Nader man, Salem, past grand patriarch of the Grand Encampment. Several gifts were presented to the new group. Medford FL club presented an altar cloth. Table Rock encampment a pair of gavels, Beta Sigma chapter gave its sister group a pair of candle holders and the joint youth com mittee presented a basket tray. The Theta Rho assembly gave the new group a guest book, and Mrs. LeManquais presented the girls a visitors' register. Lodge Sponsors : Square Dancing For Children Medford lodge of the Loyal Order of Moose has planned a series of square dance instruc tions for all children in this area, from fifth grade through junior high ages. The series will begin Thursday night, September 13; hours are 7 to 8 p.m. Dancing) will be at the Moose hall, located at 11 Newtown st. Moose lodge officers believe that "this wholesome recreation will be well accepted by the chil dren and their parents." , , There is no charge for the children. Registration of the children is being accepted now, and it is suggested that they sign up early, inasmuch as the first se ries will be limited to the first 120 youngsters to register. Following the evening cere mony refreshments were served by Mrs. John Daniel and Mrs. Donald M. Ivie. The floral ar rangements which decorated the hall were the work of Mrs. F. A. Daugherty.
