(International) Two Accidents Are Reported to Police Two accidents were reported to state police yesterday and last night, but there were no injuries,, they said. About 1:07 p.m. yesterday. a car operated by Velma Leona. Casey, 41, of Butte Falls, and truck operated by Harry La-: Vem Tilton, 56. of 1510 East" Jackson St., Medford, were in volved in an accident on High-' way 82 at Agate rd. intersec-. tion. Police said the truck was stopped in the north lane of Highway 62 waiting for traffic to clear to make a left turn onto Agate rd. and the car was un able to stop in time to avoid hitting it. The car was damaged extensively, police said. A three-car accident was re ported on Highway 99 about a mile north of Medford about 8:27 p.m. yesterday. Operators of vehicles involved were Wallace Norman Zieser, 24, of Rogue River; Beverely Anne Tooley, 17. of 2725 Elliot St., Medford; and Phyllis Mae Evelyn Christian, route 1, box 404, Talent. State police said the Zieser ve hicle apparently was unable to slow soon enough while trav eling south on Highway 99 and struck the Tooley vehicle in the rear, knocking it into the Chris tian vehicle, both of which had turned onto Highway 99 from Mace rd. about 100 yards north of the scene. Police said the Zieser vehicle ended up in a ditch about 59 feet from the point of impact. Zieser was cited for violation of basic rule, police said. Growers Advised To Check for Bugs Producers of alfalfa and la dino clover seed have been ad .vised by the county agent's of fice to check fields regularly for infestations of Lygus bugs. County Agent W. B. Tucker said the insects are reported to be more numerous this season than in past years. The insect, a small pea green to brown flying pest, may be identified by l V on its back. Tucker said. The Lygus bug feeds on buds and blossoms of legume plants causing blossom drop on the flowers and retarded bud de velopment. Tne bug. Tucker said, may migrate irom roaasiae weeds or maturing grain fields to younger alfalfa and ladino clover fields. He said several broods of young may develop each season. Control methods have been worked out by the use of DDT or toxaphene. Tucker said. The agent recommended that when one adult or nymph is found per sweep of an insect net the entire field be sprayed or dusted with two pounds per acre of actual DDT or toxaphene. The most suitable time for ap plying spray or dust is late eve ning or early morning when there are no upward air cur ents or strong winds, Tucker said.
