Saturday afternoon and night and Sunday afternoon scuffles against the cellar - occupying Bend club in the central Oregon town are billed this week for the Studs. Coquille is slated for three games at Drain in a tangle of third place clubs whilp second piare Coos Bay-North Bend has a h e. The Studs have not dropped an SOL series since their mid June openers with Drain. The.', have taken each succeeding stand two games to one. getting revenge over Drain's Black Sox last week. In beating the Sox the Cheney contingent overcame a iong standing jinx and the Studs' accomplishment could be a good omen for the future. Bend Heads Batting Medford. however, will be up against a Logger gang improved since the early season, riespite its cellar position, idle last week. Bend took over the team batting leadership and the series will mark the second in a row that Medford has faced the top hitting crew. The teams are still tightly packed in the circuit and Bend, at the bottom, is only 2' z games away from Medford. The Log gers could conceivably overtake tiie Studs in the week end series. This 1956 campaign is still any body's battle. Manager Jack Cooney has in dicated that his Stud squad should be intact for the centra! Oregon journey. He'll likely call upon Di raid Woolen.
