Baskets, all shapes and sizes, are turned out by the students enrolled for craft
classes. Weaving the baskets are Leonard Rees, Steven Lubbers, Linda Shane, and
Lois Harper. For five days a week for five weeks the children also learned textile
design, woodcraft, and tooling. Original designs drawn by the students themselves
were evident in some of the finished products. Children from four to twelve years of
age attended the school from 8:30 a.m. to noon earlier this summer.

Gary Cummings serves a fast ball to his opponent during a
morning session at tennis school. Instructed by John Tuckey from
7 a.m. to noon daily, children from eleven to seventeen years of age
were enrolled for the course. Gary was one of the many Medford
students who found learning was fun and attended a school during
the summer months.

Two members of the Pee Wee baseball team practice during one
of their sessions at the high school this summer. Catcher is Doug
Robertson who ploys that position for the Medford Tigers in the
Southern Oregon Junior baseball league. Sliding into home is Mike
Glines, one of the pitchers for the Medford Wildcats which is also in
the Junior league.

Dave Throckmorton, batter, and Jack Mullen, catcher, members
of the Sandblowers baseball team, get down to business during one
of the sessions of the baseball school. The Sandblowers ore the young
est members attending the school. Sessions are held four days a week
for seven weeks with Alex McDonald the director. For these summer
lessons the children were charged the $1 registration fee.

Intermediate band practice gets underway in band school held this summer. One of three groups receiving
instructions from I. A. Mirick, the others were for beginners end the junior high school band. This Thursday
evening the elementary school's intermediate band will give a short concert in Civic Center park at 8 p.m. It
will be followed by a junior high band concert at 8:30. The final concert for the High school band will be July 27
