Adventurer Easily j Answers Questions For $64,000 on TV New York (U.PJ Peg-legged Peter Freuchen identified seven odd nautical objects on television Tuesday night, to be come the fifth top prize winner on "The $64,000 Question." The 70-year-old adventurer, author of several books, United Rations correspondent, and ex plorer from Denmark disdained the right to take an "expert" into the show's isofation booth with him. He said he didn't need any help, and he was right. Answers Com Easy j Freuchen easily ticked, off the j correct answers to the seven part question. He identified a picture of the coelacanth, a spe cies of fish 300,000,000 years old; the left eye tooth of a wal rus; and a special piece of sea- j faring gear, a whale bomb. The bearded contestant also distinguished between two ice bergs, telling from pictures which was found in the north and which in the south Polar regions. Freuchen gave the correct an rwers to parts of the question dealing with a curious old map drawn by Benjamin Franklin and a harpoon head used by Es kimos to hunt seals and walrus. Wife Killed in Arctic The question on Eskimos was particularly easy for Fruechen, as his first wife was a Thule, Greenland Eskimo. She was killed on a map-making trip into the Arctic that also cost Freuch en his leg . Fruechen went to sleep under his sled one night and when he awoke he felt numb all over. It took him 11 hours to dig himself out of the snow. His toes became gangrenous, and he had to knock them off with a hammer. Later, the whole leg had to be amputated up to the knee. Freuchen's face was so painful ly frozen that he hasn't been able to shave since.
