"iiraf.scaoiriKm3Jtt.iit Movie Star Kim Novak Says Life Hectic, But She Likes It By ELIZABETH TOOMEY United Presi Correspondent New York (U.R) Every body should meet a beautiful movie star once in a while, es pecially dreamy-eyed young girls who think their faces could take them to stardom if they just got that one break. The pretty face is only a pleas ant asset, the caller realizes in one brief conversation. Beauti ful but dumb girls are unlikely to succeed. They have too much beautiful but mart competition. Right now the revealing con versation could take place in a hotel suite living room 19 floors above Fifth Avenue, with a 23-year-old blonde whose smooth oval face ?nd round grey-green eyes give her a guileless expres sion. The girl is Kim Novak. She has been remarkably successful without any apparent struggle. Her first movie role at Colum bia Pictures was a starring one, and she kept right on getting the star's roles. She looks, when sh is relax ing in her hotel suite, like a teenage tomboy with nothing more serious on her mind than a date with the boy next door. Figure Concealed She opened the door for a re cent interview dressed in navy blue and red printed silk slacks and shirt, which concealed her Fashion's Newest! 7306 Ctl ! if try irrirDT The long lines of Paris are lovely indeed translate this 2 piece outfit into the HIT of the season! Her short, straight hair was tousled and her feet were bare. She stretched full length on the couch, but when she began answering questions she propped her head on one elbow and im mediately shed her casual man ner. As the questions touched on various phases of her life, Kim replied crisply, sure of her self and her ambitions. Her career: "I hate roles that are one-dimensional," Kim said. "I hate people who are one dim ensional, come to think of it. I liked the last part I played, in 'The Eddy Duchin Story,' be cause I played all phases of a woman's life when she falls in love, marries, has a baby and dies." It Is Hectic Her personal life: "It is hec tic, but I like it. You do mind the lack of privacy, because you are a human being and it is un natural for any person to live without privacy. I don't like night clubs and I don't like peo ple who are over anxious to like you. I respect it when people are not too sure they like you right away." Romance: She was reported interested in Italian Count Mario Bandini, whom she met recently in Italy, and repeatedly denies rumors she is about to wed her longtime Hollywood escort, Mac Krim. "There are so many ways of interpreting the word romance. Kim said. "Mario certainly is tall, dark, handsome and intel ligent. I wouldn't say it was a business acquaintance. He is coming here in December. Mac is here visiting me now. I have no intention of marrying him.' As for relying on others to guide her to stardom, Kim curl ed her five seven inches around extra pillows on the long couch and said crisply: "I don't like anyone to tell me what to do. I love influences. My mother has been a very im portant influence in my life. But she doesn't tell me what to do. I do what I think is right." 4 Always add the flavoring to boiled custards, frostings, and candies after they have cooled to prevent evaporation of the flavoring. i :' DAD'S ( j DAY jj4 lull IS SUNDAY I JUNE 17th Remember oil Dads who are dear to you- FATHER " GRANDFATHER ?
