(International Soundphoto) Report of Yreka Water Supply Given Yreka Yreka Water Commis sioner Jim Cummings reported Tuesday on the city's water re sources as of June 1, 1956, as compared to June 1, 1955, dur ing last year's drought. Boston Shaft stands now with only 61 feet to water as com pared with 76 feet last year. At Greenhorn Well, the creek is re ported still running, with a full head of gravity, and with a con tinuous pumping capacity of 24 hours per day. At the same well last year, pumping capacity had been reduced to 12 hours per day, and the creek bed was totally dry. North Well is at the 12 foot mark, and may be pumped 24 hours per day, as compared to a seven-foot level last year. The old reservoir is full, Cum mings said, while a year ago it contained only three feet of water, and Steele reservoir is also full, with one pump running. Sen. Morse Pledges Stevenson Support New .York (U.R) Sen. Wayne More (D-Ore.) who bolted the Republican party in 1952 to support Adlai E. Stevenson, said yesterday he would back him with as much enthusiasm as Man's Body Found In Portland Debris Portland (U.R) The body of a man was found yesterday in the burned warehouse of the Gilbert Brothers Company here, Fire Inspector C. W. Stickney reported. The man was tentatively iden tified from papers in a wallet as Ralph Randall Cummings, 46, Portland. The body was found by a Gilbert Company workman, Arnold W. Jensen, who was cleaning 'up debris from a Memorial Day fire. Stickney said that apparently stored merchandise equipment had fallen on Cummings and buried him. . he did four years ago. Morse pointed out that as a convention delegate he is bound by the decision of the Oregon delegation which is declared 'for Stevenson, and that he has "no regrets" over that decision. He praised Stevenson highly, but said he would devote equal ef forts to the election of any other "great Democrat." Morse spoke at a convention of the United Hatters, Cap and Milinery Workers Union. A FAMILIAR FACE Bordentown, N.J. (U.R) William F. Helmacy, 17, was forced to write a thesis on the proper care and operation of a bicycle when he was brought into court a year ago on charges his bike had "improper lights. Thursday Helmacy was back before Magistrate Gordon Phil ips, charged with driving a pick up without lights, allowing a youth to ride on the fender, and improper parking. Philips revoked Helmacy's license and gave him a lecture. Leonard said he drove Policeman Thomas Clifford to the station after his arrest. Montgomery Ward Workers Get Raise Chicago (U.R) The Team sters Union said yesterday more than 20,000 Montgomery Ward employees won pay boosts av eraging 10V4 cents an hour under a newly ratified contract. A statement by the company, however, said the pay increases averaged 9V4 cents and included not more than. 17,000 of its 55, 000 workers. The one-year pact covers em ployees in mail order houses, stores, warehouses and retail out lets in 19 cities, according to the union. A spokesman said the con tract provides pay hikes ranging from 4 to 36 cents an hour. He reported the boost gives Chicago workers hourly wages ranging from $1.30 to $3.17. More than 4500 of the employees affected work in Chicago. Cities covered by the contract include Oakland, Portland and Los Angeles.
