SIX MEDFORD (OBEGON) MAIL THIBUNE Thursday, June 7, 1958 Two Are Injured in Three Accidents in Area Yesterday Two persons were Injured In three accidents in the Medford area yesterday, state police have reported. Gerald Andrew Thompson, 18, of 129 South Sixth St., Central Point, was taken to Sacred Heart hospital with a cut lip and knee injuries, police said. His condition was not serious, they said. Thompson was driver of a car which was involved in an acci dent with cars operated by M. M. Movers, Sutherland, Ore., and Joan Rae Johnson, 430 South Crape st., Medford, at the Big Y market about 9:42 a.m. yesterday, police said. Thompson was cited for fol lowing too close, they said. Highway 99 Crash Cars operated by Margaret Kathern Johnson, 53, Grants Pass, and Harry LeClere. 615 West Second St., Medford, collided- on Highway 99 in front of the Secretary of State's office about 9:10 a.m. yesterday. Mar garet Johnson was taken to Community hospital by Medford Ambulance service with a brok en wrist, and other injuries, police said. LeClere was cited by police for failure to yield to oncoming traffic. LeClere was taken to Community hospital by Medford Ambulance service for shock. Cars operated by Donald Ray Lue, 341 OCara st., Medford, and Floyd C. Carpenter, Cen tral Point, were involved in an accident on Highway 99 near Elk Lumber company about 4:11 p.m. yesterday. There were no injuries, police said. Open House Slated At New Hawkinson Tire Plant Here The public has been invited to an open house at the new Hawkinson Tire Tread service plant at 1112 Court St., Friday and Saturday, June 8 and 9, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., both days, Carlton Bismarck, man ager announced today. Free coffee and doughnuts will be served. Orchids will be given women who attend and children will be served ice cream. Priies will be awarded at intervals throughout the two day festivities. Tours of the plant will be con ducted. The new building, of concrete structure, 40 by 160 feet, covers 6.400 square feet of floor space and Includes a sales department, shops, offices, and three com- j pletely equipped truck service departments. i Large Parking Area A large parking area also is accessible from four directions as the result of two new short streets recently opened at the site. The business deals in tire serv ice for passenger cars, all types of trucks, and off-road equip ment, both wholesale and retail. It also is General Tire distrib utor for the county. The business for many years has been located at 204 North Riverside ave. Personnel in addition to Bis marck include Bud Hurt, over all superintendent; Walt Smith, commercial sales manager; and Bill Chase, Claude Chase, Jay Skaggs, Donny Imhausen, and Tom James of the service de partment, and Mrs. Bea Todd, of the office. Holmes Injured in California Accident Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Holmes, 19 Psrtland ave., who were injured Sunday evening near Woodland. Calif., in an au tomobile accident, are expected i to arrive home today. Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Skinner, neighbors of the Holmes, left yesterday to return the couple. Mr. and Mrs. Holmes had checked into a motel at Wood land Sunday and were en route to Sacramento for dinner when the accident occurred. A car at tempted to pass (hem on High way 30. Mrs. Holmes received rib and collar bone fractures and he suf, fered shock and bruises and was unconscious for a time after the accident, family members said today.
