(International Soundphoto) Wealthy Businessman Goes Berserk While Driving Big Cadillac New York (U.R) A wealthy Baltimore businessman went berserk in a cream-yellow Cadil lac Wednesday, leading police on a 95 mile per hour chase in which 16 shots were fired before Memorial Day traffic trapped him. Passenger Train Wrecked; One Killed Parkersburg, W. Va. U.R) The Baltimore & Ohio Railroads U-car National Limited passeng er train was wrecker near here early today when the diesel lo comotive struck a boulder and plunged into a creek. One crew man, the engineer, was killed and another crewman was re ported missing. Three other members and one passenger were injured but none seriously enough to require hospitalization. Six cars were derailed but all except a mail car remained upright. Thornton Rules on Real Estate Licenses Salem (U.R) Attorney Gen eral Robert Y. Thornton said Tuesday that a "regular em ployee" of a real estate devel opment firm was not required to be licensed as a real estate broker under the Oregon real estate law. Thornton noted that the law was inapplicable to "regular em ployees" of a corporation per forming acts with reference to property owned by the corpora tion where such acts were per formed in the regular course of management. Institute for Visual Handicapped Being Held Salem (U.R) The eighth an nual institute for parents of vis ually -handicapped pre -school children opened here last night and will continue until Sunday. Discussions are designed to ac quaint parents with work done for the children. The blind school and the Ore gon auxiliary of the Lions club are sponsoring the institute. Baby sitting for the approxi mately 50 families throughout the stats is being provided by the Lions auxiliary groups. Breitenbush Spring Resort Has New Owners Salem (U.R) M. D. Bruck man, Salem, owner of the Breit enbush Spring resort, 11 miles above Detroit, announced here yesterday that he had sold the resort. Involved in the sale were ap proximately 100 acres of land, a 32-room hotel, store and 62 cabins. Sale price was estimated at $250,000. Bruckman said the new own ers were Albert, Wayne and Wendell Halscth . and Everett Holt, all of the Salem area. TENNIS SHOES ONLY Milwaukee (U.R) Police were on the lookout Wednesday for a young man wearing white tennis shoes and nothing else. Picnickers at Jackson Park said the man dashed across the grounds in his unusual disattire Wednesday afternoon. Police surmised he had gone for a swim in the raw and someone stole his clothes. Various Charges The businessman, Joseph Fish er, 39, was arrested bare-chested and grinning behind dark glasses on a New Jersey superhighway. Police said before Fisher's capture he had panhandled, dou ble parked, triple parked, driven without a license, escaped from police, denied a police car fond er, run red lights, speeded through the Lincoln Tunnel to New Jersey wihout paying the toll and speeded in New Jersey. A police surgeon at the Fort Lee, N.J., police station said he found Fisher of "unsound mind" and "incoherent in his speech." In Baltimore, his wife Mildred said her husband had recently been released from a psychiatric institution and disappeared last Sunday. "He's not a well boy," Mrs. Fisher said. The chase began at noon Wed nesday when Fisher's conspicu ous cream-yellow car was found parked in the middle of the street outside the Sherry Nether lands Hotel. Received $2 The doorman at the Sherry Netherlands said Fisher had been panhandling and received $2 from a patron who left the hotel. Fisher was arrested. He drove to a midtown police station ac companied by the officer, locked up his car and gave police the keys. When police messaged Balti more for more information, Fisher asked if he could get his jacket from his car. An officer accompanied him but Fisher bolted, took duplicate keys from his pocket, got in the car and drove off. He nearly ran down a patrolman and banged a de tective's car. Potato Commission Office Move Protested Redmcnd CU.R) A protest against proposed removal of the headquarters of the Oregon Po tato Commission from Redmond to Salem was being drafted here today. , The resolution will be pre sented at the commission's June meeting in Ontario by the De schutes unit of the Oregon Farm Bureau Federation. The resolution said that "since most Oregon potatoes are raised in central, eastern and Klamath basin areas, the bureau feels the office should remain in one of these sections . . ."
