I Tuesday, May 22. 195S Cascade Locks Wreck Leaves One Man Dead Cascade Locks 0J.R) One man was killed and another crit ically injured Saturday night in a two-car crash on highway 30 near here. Dead was Arik Galasheff, 50, a gardener for . the corps of en gineers at Bonneville dam. Driv er of the other car, Bert Wil liams, Heppner, was seriously hurt. Galasheff was west bound at the time of the accident, police reported. He had been employed by the Corps of Engineers for more than 20 years. These consult with clergymen of all faiths and denominations. All letters are held in complete confidence. Ruth My sister puts all the burden on me. Clara I'm crowded out of the family. Ruth My sister, Clara, is pro ving a terrible trial to my par ents and to me, and I can't under stand her at all. I see her in school, where I am in the sen ior class and she is a sophomore, and she is the model of courtesy, agreeableness and good be havior. But at home, she is a terror. No one dares ask her to do anything, and if she does con descend to help in the house work, she invariably does 'some damage. My mother is often in tears over this problem, and my father is always blaming mother for not having raised her right. I feel that I shoulder an unfair burden. With my mother often being up set and Clara either refusing to help or doing things in a poor way, I have to shoulder most of the housework. Clara manages to have a lot of dates and spends most of her time away from home. But I am stuck home and seldom can go out. I never have a date, and it seems I am snever expected to. I'd-like to get away from it by going to college out of town, but I am afraid that if I am not home, Clara and my parents will never get along at all. . ' . Clara I would like to help at home, but I cannot endure the fault-finding. Ruth simply does those things better than I, but I do not see why I Should always be ragged and compared to my disadvantage. When I was little, I was not expected to do any of these things, and now I am ex pected to know without having learned. I can't wait until I am old enough to get away from this place, but I am terribly afraid of having to be at home alone with my parents. I do not feel that I will be able to stand up to it if I am required to do a lot of housework to the ac companiment of constant sharp criticism. The Council: Ruth notes that her sister Clara is "a model of courtesy, agreeableness and good behavior" at school, while at home she is va terror." This states the problem very well, and at the same time suggests its cause and solution. In school, Clara is desirous of establishing and maintaining a good reputation so that she will be acceputed and looked up to; at home Clara must feel that she already damned by reputa tion and therefore in a hopeless position. Comparison is an odious pro cess, and it has been painfully so to Clara. As the younger of two sisters, she was naturally less skillful in household duties. The parents might have avoided comparisons that would wound the sensibilities of the younger child, and might have trained her in some little specialty of household work so that her pride would be appeased. They ev idently were unmindful of this problem and it 'has grown. Ruth could do a great deal during the coming months to ease this tension and prepare Clara to adjust herself to her home next year, when she will be alone with her parents. Ruth has an opportunity not only to prepare Clara for the future, but to establish a closer relationship with her. In the process, Ruth would also be gaining a little more freedom for herself. Ruth should make a direct ap proach to Clara, explaining the fact that circumstances had tend ed to crowd Clara out of things at home and offering to help train her in some household arts. The woman may feel cold and sleepy and slowed-up. In such case, she will probably have to take some thyroid substance for the rest of her days. A Spur On The Heel Many persons ask me what to do about a spur on the heel-bone. I imagine such a spur is usually related to a tendency to arth ritis in other parts of the body. Often it does not cause any pain or sorness, and is discovered only accidentally. In that case it can be left alone.
