Around Hollywood By ALINE MOSBY United Preu Correspondent Hollywood (U.R) The movie life story of Buster Keaton will tell bluntly of his alcohol prob- mpm i. hi i -' lem and his I fal1 from the of screen greats. Hollywood has stopped fooling the public with such fictional i z e d biogra phies as "The AJJne Mosby Jolson Story." Now a celebrity's life tale is told with the unhappy side, and thus the exciting drama, left in. "The Buster Keaton Story," which begins shooting at Para mount next month, will be in the manner of "Love Me Or Leave Me," and "I'll" Cry To morrow." When Donald O'Connor combs his hair sideways and claps that famous Keaton flat straw skim mer on his head, he'll portray what producer Robert Smith calls "The rise and fall of Bus ter Keaton." Truth Unfolded "The story will be true to his life, about the drinking and his djustment," O'Connor said to day. "He never really found himself until after his great suc cess." O'Connor is screening all the great silent Keaton comedies so he can study that great comedy artist. The younger entertainer also is practicing Keaton's prat falls, from back flips to "ear slides," that make this role the most difficult of O'Connor's ca reer. Often Keaton joins O'Connor in producer Smith's office and they hash over comedy "bits" that will be repeated in the pic ture. Although he is 60, Keaton can do falls that pale the younger O'Connor. Wardrobe Duplicated O'Connor will wear a dupli cate of Keaton's original ward robe when he goes into such famous Keaton routines as the stuck-together card-dealing bit from "The Navigator." O'Con nor will also repeat the wonder ful gag in which Keaton stood in the bow of his little boat as it was launched. The boat grand ly sailed down the skids, and just as grandly sank to the bot tom. Only his famous pancake thin hat was left floating on the water. O'Connor fits neatly into the role because he always has been a lover of the silent screen and pantomine comedy. He did five such sketches for his television series. And it was his idea to put such veterans as Francis X. Bush man, Minta Durfee, Conrad Na gel and Blanche Sweet into "The Buster Keaton Story." BendNof To Be Locale For Hollywood Picture Bend (U.R) Hollywood will not come to Bend for the film ing of a forthcoming film as had been previously planned, offi cials here have been informed. Producers of "Fort . Laramie," a film planned for the Deschutes region near Bend, announced that a change in plans had been made and that the movie will be shot elsewhere. Previous plans had called for the movie to start work on location here about the loth of this month. Pauling, of the California In stitute of Technology, addressed the 112th annual meeting of the American Psychiatric Associa tion. Pauling told the psychiatrists that progress in solving the rid dle may be made through re search for abnormal molecules and a study of their molecular structure. Pauling said the molecular basis of hereditary disease has been clarified by research in a type of anemia known as sickle cell anemia. He said it was found that this disease is caused by the manu facture of hemoglobin mole cules that differ slightly in struc ture from the molecules of nor mal adult hemoglobin, or red blood culls. The manufacture of these old blood cells is controlled by the genes, Pauling said.
