You'll Probably Have Twice As Much Money in Your Savings Account by 1975 Chicago (U.R Cheer up. By loan associations. 1975 you'll probably have twice The prediction is based on as much money in your savings : data indicating that people are in account. These tidings come from the United States Savings and Loan League, which estimates that by 1975 the average savings account will total $4000. That would be slightly more than double today's average of $1800. This isn't just wishful think-ing,-the savings and loan people said. It's based on the experience of the nation's 6000 savings and Exlremists Kill Two Cypriols Saturday Nicosia, Cyprus (U.R) Ex tremists killed two Greek Cyp riots in the streets Saturday and tried to kill another. Journalist Odysseus UlysSes Wideson, target of rebel gun man on four previous occasions, was killed at Lanarca. Security sources said the killing may spark strong anti-extremist mea sures in the struggle involving British efforts to keep this stra tegic Mediterranean island and the effort of the Eoka under ground to wrest it away and bring it under Greek control. Other gunmen shot and killed a peddler in a market in Fama gusta. Another man was wounded. a "better saving mood" than ever before, the league said, de spite all you hear about install ment buying and its possible pit falls. Americans are realizing a gain in income each year, the league said, and industry's growing pro ductivity is making that income 'real" in terms of buying power. Bright Future Furthermore, the league said, signs point to continuing expan sion of the nation's economy. People are now putting about 7 per cent of their disposable annual income into savings, league economists said. They ac knowledged that the figure de clined somewhat in 1955, a year of "unprecedented consumer spending." But they expect savings to pick up again. Savings now total $235,000, 000,000, the league said, an in crease of $175,000,000,000, or 295 per cent, since pre-war 1950 A league survey showed some psychological benefits from sav ing, too. About 95 per cent of savers questioned said they "feel better" after making a deposit. About 66 per cent said saving makes a man a better citizen. Incomes Rising The league said incomes are rising so fast you'll soon find you have more money left over after paying your bills. .Since 1945, total personal income has risen 10 per cent a year. In 1945, the average American family had an annual income of only S2621. By 1955 it had grown to $4600, a gain of 75 per cent. The league said there are now 15,750,000 families, or 38 per cent of the nation's total, with incomes over $5000. And economists predict that during the next 10 years such families will increase by 100 per cent. Hi, MEDFORD'S BARGAIN CORNER SIXTH AND CENTRAL ' Is Hollywood (U.R) Beautiful actresses, singers and dancers are hammering nails into scen- erv and writ ing songs to celebrate the 40th a n n iver sary of one of Holly wood's famed institu tions the Stu dio club. The club, a colorful home for the young W P rf.i Aline Mosby women who are working at or in show business, first rang up its curtain in 1916. Usually their anniversaries go unsung. But this year the 94 beauties who live at the club are putting on their own show in the club thea ter for talent scouts, proud par ents and boy friends. 'Two friends of the girls wrote the show and now we're working on a plot to get a new curtain before opening night," said Florence Williams, the club director. , Alumnae Boasted The Studio club is a sort of show business house that boasts such alumnae as Marilyn Mon roe, Kim Novak (she just moved into her own apartment) Donna Reed, Janet Blair, Barbara Brit ton, Evelyn Keyes, Gale Storm, Rita Moreno and Linda Darnell. Walking through the club is like watching scenes from the play, "Stage Door." In the lobby one sees boy friends waiting for their dates to trip down from upstairs. When Rita Moreno liv ed there, many girls would find an excuse to pick up their mail so they could smile at her wait ing date, Marlon Brando. In the club's theater, a group of beauties in blue jeans re hearse dance numbers for the May 14 anniversary show call ed "Hollywood 5-3166" after the club's phone number. This haven for hopefuls was launched by a group of young actresses, including Zasu Pitts, who were living in unfriendly hotel rooms and reading plays together in the basement of a public library. The YWCA spon sored their plan for a home, and the club still is a part of that national organization. A room and two meals at the club costs from $16.50 to $20.50 a week. In the early days such ac tresses as Norma Talmadge and Constance Bennett exercised in the club gym in black bloomers and middy blouses. Today it's the most glamorous "Y" in the country with a scrapbook of alumnae photographs that looks like a movie magazine.
