VFW Post and Auxiliary Hold Annual Installation Mrs. T. R. Pittock Jr., was installed president of the auxiliary to the Crater Lake post. Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Prentice Petty was installed post commander at joint installation ceremo nies held Tuesday at the VFW hall. Mrs. Mabel Drinkwater, Grants Pass, was musician; Mrs. Dan Krotz, Shady Cove, treas urer, and Mrs. Warren Fichtner, Eugene, secretary. Mrs. Pittock's family was at the installations. In addition to Mr. Pittock were her daughter, Mrs. Fichtner of Eugene: a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Pittock and their fam ily; a son, Tom Pittock: and an other son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Schroeder, all of Medford. Mrs. Lusk, the retiring presi dent for the second term, was given a check as a gift from the auxiliary. Mrs. DeBerry pre sented the gift and in turn she was given a check for three years of service as auxiliary secretary.' Gifts were presented Mrs. Birch and other installing offi cers. A p:n for 25 years of con tinuous membership was pre sented Mrs. Albert Hall by Mrs. Lusk, and a gift of money was also given to Mrs. Lusk from her officers of the past year. Reese Creek Women Postpone May Session Reese Creek Reese Creek Extension unit has postponed its May meeting from May 1, as previously announced, to Tues day, May 8, because of the Homemakers' festival on May 2. The meeting will be at the home of Mrs. C. J. Kelley. Mrs. Ben Gardener and Mrs. Paul Johnston are leaders for the project "Garment Finishes." Members attending are asked to bring scissors, pins, needle, thread, thimble, measuring gauge, tailor's chalk or white pencil, about one-half yard cot ton fabric and a skirt zipper. Lunch will be served by the hostess and a committee, and table service is required. Any one in the community who is in terested is invited to attend. Roosevelt during the sixth an nual Roosevelt Memorial din ner Monday evening at Hedrick High school. Mrs. Roosevelt was principal speaker for the ban quest. The ceremony, conducted by candlelight, marked the opening night of the silver anniversary ot Beta Sigma Phi which will be shared by the sorority's 125,000 members in countries throughout the world. Members from the four Med ford chapters as well as repre sentatives from Ashland and Grants Pass chapters totalled 75 in attendance. The special Beta Sigma Phi table was placed down the center of the room and was appropriately decorated in the sorority's colors, black and gold. The centerpieces for the table included two cakes denoting the 25th anniversary celebration. Mrs. Frederick Kruggel present ed her cake as a gift from Alpha Beta chapter, and Mrs. William Tycer presented hers from Alpha Rho chapter.' Many bouquets of yellow roses and black candles completed the decorations. In charge of table decorations were Mrs. Larry Allen, presi dent of Beta Sigma Phi City council; Mrs. Nick DeWitt, in coming president; Mrs. J. E. Moir, president of Exemplar chapter; Mrs. Oris Goble, Alpha Beta, Miss Muriel Saimons, Xi Mu, and Mrs. Jonathan Middle ton, Alpha Rho. Mrs. Middleton made the presentation to Mrs. Roosevelt and during the ceremony gave the two badges, which are the official insignia of the organiza tion, and a scroll denoting the induction into membership of Mrs. Roosevelt. Mrs. Roosevelt typifies the cultural, social and service ideals of the organiza tion. Event Announced By Wenonah Club Wenonah club's annual smor gasbord and public card party has been postponed from May 3 to May 8, officers have an nounced. The event will be held in Redman hall on Apple street. Those who wish to reserve ta bles for the event should con tact Mrs. Floyd Lewis, 707 Sher man street, or Mrs. Hans Ram min, 831 West 12th street. Next club meeting will be Thursday, May 3, at the hall, when a covered dish luncheon will be served. N. R. Walters was installed command er of the barracks and Mrs. Wal ters was installed auxiliary pres ident. At the close of the installation of barracks' officers the newly installed commander was pre sented the group's charter by John Dillage, department com mander, who was instituting and installing officer. He was assist ed in the installing by sergeants at arm ' and color bearers of Grants Pass. Commander Dillage also spoke on reasons for organ izing the group. The commander of the Grants Pass Barracks, Lee Turner, and Mrs. Turner, department guard, presented a myrtlewood gavel to Mr. Walters. Mr. Lee had presided at the opening of the meeting, Mrs. Lee also conducted a part of the session and introduced the de partment auxiliary president, Mrs. Jeanette Wooley of Coos Bay, who was the instituting and installing officer for the auxiliary. She was assisted by department patriotic instructor, Mrs. Jennie Cuin, also of Coos Bay, Mrs. Turner, and- Mrs. Daisy Nugent, chaplain of Grants Pass auxiliary.
