91st Birthday Observed By Resident Over 30 persons visited Wil liam R. Bullock Saturday and Sunday, April 14 and 15 in observance of his 91st birthday anniversary. He makes his home with his youngest daughter, Mrs. Karl J. Knutson, 615 North Co lumbus avenue. Mr. Bullock came to Medford in April, 1900. He was born at Blanchard, la., April 14. 1865, the day that President Lincoln was assassinated. His family came to this country in 1853 from Cornwall, England. He was employed as a custo dian in all of Medford Public grade schools from 1910 to his retirement in 1937 and is remem bered by many residents who knew him when they were stud ents or otherwise associated with the schools. Mr. Bullock is still actively engaged in gardening at his home ad raises and sells daffo dils and narcissus. Members of Alpha Lambda chapter attending are Mrs. Rob ert E. Klumph. Mrs. Thomas Makris. Mrs. Norman Oberst, Mrs. William Raymond. Mrs. Robert Shangle, and Mrs. Lyman Smith. All except Mrs. Klumph are officers of this chapter. Mrs. Makris was nominated for the outstanding girl award. The dinner was followed by a district meeting in Ashland Masonic temple. i Bethel and Council Members Receive Grand Session Honors A number of members of val ley bethels and guardian coun cil members received honors at the annual grand session of In ternational Order of Job's Daughters held last week end in Eugene. Miss Kay Askwith, chaplain of Bethel 38, Central Point, was chosen grand inner guard; Miss Margaret Selby, Bethel 55, Med ford, is the new grand marshal; and Miss Susan Hubbard, Bethel 14, Medford, was selected grand representative to Hawaii and Miss Phyllis Griggs, Bethel 56, Shady Cove, grand representa j tive to Iowa. One of the features of the con vention was an addendum given by members of Bethel 38 ia memory of the late Mrs. Everett Faber, Central Point. Mrs. Fa ber, organizer of Bethel 38 and long active in Job's Daughters and other Masonic groups, was to have been installed grand guardian for Oregon during the sessions. Because of Mrs. Faber's deep interest in the United Nations, this was the theme of the memor ial and bethel members were costumed to represent various UN countries. Miss Vicki Noel, queen of the bethel, served as narrator. Bethel 38 also gave the flag and Bible ceremonies assisted by the DeMolay-Job's choir of Gresham. During the session the grand guardian council voted a gift of S100 to the leukemia fund in Mrs. Faber's memory. Members of southern Oregon bethels attended a special ban quet at the Osburn hotel which Mrs. Faber had arranged before hir sudden death. Large delegations from all valley chapters and from the guardian- councils attended the Eugene sessions. Heading the delegation from Bethel 14 were Queen Emily Masterson, Senior Princess Bernice Skoog, Junior Princess Ann Garner, Guide Su san Hubbard, Marshal Susan Knight and Miss Rosalie ' John son, junior past queen and grand marshal for Oregon. Delegates were Miss Hubbard and Miss Sharon Blickenstaff. Bethel 14 entered a drill team in competition, winning third place in the novelty division. Heading the Bethel 38 delega tion were Queen Vicki Noel, Senior Princess Maria Abbott, and Junior Princess Nadra Moore. Officers of Bethel 55 who headed that delegation were Queen Janet Perry, Senior Prin cess Judith Lobdell, Junior Princess Margaret Selby, Guide Noreen Pahlke and Marshal Marcia Spnce. A score of guardian council members and parents accompa nied the girls as chaperones. Mrs. Patrick Mahoney Home From California Mrs. Patrick W. Mahoney ar rived home last week from Ft. Ord, Calif., where her husband, Private Mahoney, was stationed before leaving April 14 for Ft. Dix, N.J. From there he will embark for his next station in Germany with the Army. He will sail on the USNS But ner. Mrs. Mahoney has returned to her former employment in the Knox Accounting service offices. The valley's four Order Eastern Star chapters honored Miss Carlotta Wiseman, Grants Pass, worthy grand matron for Oregon, at a dinner Tuesday evening at Tally Ho restaurant on Highway 99. The four chap ters are Alpha, Ashland; Reames, Medford; Adarel, Jack sonville and Nevita, Central Point Following the dinner a dis trict meeting was held in the Ashland Masonic temple with all four chapters participating and Alpha as host chapter. Sharing honors in the east with Miss Wiseman were Mrs. Lorena McNair, Ashland, past"; grand matron and present grand historian; Mrs. John Pond, Med ford, member of the endowment fund committee; Morris Bough ner. Medford, member of the ESTARL committee; Mrs. Clif ford Maust. Mrs. Marjorie Wil liams and Mrs. Rei; Note, grand representatives. Also honored were the ma trons and patrons of the four chapters. They are Mrs. Orville Shores and Lloyd Hamlin, Ada rel; Mrs. Robert Van Vleet and R. Richard Trites, Alpha; Mrs. Melvin McGrew and Bruce Grieve, Nevita chapter, and Mrs. E. G. Randolph and Ross Gilkison. Reames chapter. Mrs. Martel Peters sang sev eral solos and Miss Edna Dough erty and Foss Cramer provided piano and organ music through out the evening. At close of the ceremonies the courtesy girls of the four chap ters staged a colorful addendum while Mrs. Peters, Mrs. R. L. MacKay and Mrs. Trites sang.
