SIX MIDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Thursday, April 5, 1958 Holmes'.Observe 48th Business Year Here Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Holmes are observing the 48th year of the organization of the R. A. Holmes agency which was founded April 9, 1909, and is said to be the oldest insurance agency in Medford operated by the same personnel. Holmes, the present manager, joined the agency in 1915. He was away for a time while study ing the insurance business in the San Francisco area and he served for two years in World War I. Mrs. Edith Harwood first joined the agency in 1923 as office secretary and now is un derwriter. Mrs. Charlotte Wood joined the firm as secretary two years ago after retirement of Mrs. Helen Wheeler. Mrs. Holmes has served as office manager since 1937. r II II .11 J. K ..H .wumw 1 Priority for South On Vaccine Denied Washington (U.R The U. S Public Health Service today of ficially rejected the idea of giv ing the South priority on current shipments of Salk polio vaccine because the season strikes there earlier. It declared "the national inter est can best be served' by con tinuing the present nationwide distribution system in which all states get their vaccine at about the same time. '"Each state," it said, " . . . needs its full share of vaccine in order to protect as large a por tion of its population as pos sible." ! In another development, in- j formed sources disclosed that the government has decided to sum mon the National Polio Advisory Committee into session in the next couple of weeks to make full scale review of the distribu tion program on the eve of .the 1956 polio season. 4-H ClubNewT Beys Cooking The Butte Falls Boys Cooking club met Feb. 22 at the home of Mry. Fuiten when a demon stration was given on making vanilla drop cookies given .by Tom Armstrong. Our next meet ing was at Dan McKeen's home and he gave the recipe for lemon fluff custard. At our next meeting held at Mrs. Fuitens we had a guest, Betty Tygart. Our record books were checked. Mrs Fuiten showed us how to make banana milk drink. Tickets were made available to school children through Med ford merchants, who purchased tickets and distributed them, club officials said. The Crater Lions club sponsored the show here, with proceeds going to the club's welfare fund. New Eastbound Flight From Portland Added . Added air service from Med ford to eastern points will go into effect April 29 by United Air lines, K. W. Cook, station ground service manager here, has announced.
