HORNBROOK Mrs. Vieiras By MRS. H. H. CHAPMAN Hornbrook Funeral services were held March 27 for Mrs. Bonnie Vieira, 42, Hilt, who was killed March 24 in an automo bile accident on Hwy. 99. one fourth of a mile north of Cotton wood Creek bridge. Mrs. Vieira is survived by her husband, George, who is in Siskiyou County hospital in Yreka with critical injuries sustained in the same accident. Burial was in the Henley-Hornbrook cemetery. Word has been received be friends and relatives here that Mrs. E. R. Grieve successfully underwent major surgery on March 27 at St. Mary's Hospital in Reno, Nev. She will be in the hospital several days before returning to her home in Ne vada City? Calif. The Bridge club met March 21 with Mrs. Marshall Horn as hostess. A dessert luncheon was served, after which members playing included Mrs. Frank Ohlund. Mrs. Bertha Bradley, Mrs. o Henley Clawson, Mrs. Grace Quigley, Mrs. Lester Nye, Mrs. Will Rogers of Klamath jiver, Mrs. Frank Graves of Hilt. Guest player was Mrs. Duane Hamner, also of Hilt. Mrs. Nye won high score and Mrs. Rogers, second. March 23 the regular month ly meeting of the 4-H club was held at the home of Mrs. L. C. Walsh on Henley rd. About 15 members were present, includ ing Mrs. A. L. Kutsky, one cf the food group- leaders. Mrs. Alec Rutledge attended as a guest. After the business meet ing, at which plans were com pleted for a box social and dance to be held in April, games were played, and a party was held with Mrs. Walsh and her daugh ter, Sharee, acting as htfctesses. Mrs. Robert Parshall left on March 27 to visit with her par ents in Hermiston, Ore. , Danny Freitas of Henley rd., son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Freitas, entertained a number of his friends on March. 23 at his seventh birthday party. They at tended the matinee at the Broad way theater in . Yreka. Danny was sisted by his mother who transported, the 12 guests in their station wagon, and who reported they had a "bang-up" time! Those attending were Tommy Wott, Scott Bagley, Danny Met zen, Gary Rue, Steve and Bill Farmer, Ricky Hogan, Tom and Ralph McHenry of Yreka, for mer Hornbrook playmates, and Danny's brothers, Mike and Roger. Several Hornbrook friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene French in Yreka ; March 24 for a birthday dinner : honoring the March birthday of j Mel Cozzalio. Besides Cozzalio ' and his wife, Jan, those attend j ing were Mr. and Mrs. Lauran ! Payne, Mr. and Mrs. Al Kutsky, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bennett and Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Walsh. The Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts of the Hornbrook troop ! held a private dance at the Grange hall March 21. The boys : all wore their uniforms, and j took their girls. About 15 cou ! pies attended and all report 1 such a good time that they want I to hold another such dance, in the near futuer. Bob Payne was ! "record tender," and announced ! the dances. ! Mr. and Mrs. Carl Williams and three children of Henley rd., visited friends in Corning, Calif, and her parents in San Jose over the week end. Miss Clara Ladd, who has been a teacher in the public schools at Westwood, Calif., for several years, spent the week end at her home on Henley rd. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rimell and daughter, Joyce, of Canyon- I ville, Ore., were week end ! guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Chapman and their ! son, Oliver Fick. On Sunday afternoon, both families drove to Medford to attend the Parade of Progress, after which Rimell returned to Canyonville. Mrs. Rimell and Joyce returned to Hornbrook for a further visit, and left Tuesday morning to spend the day shopping in Med ford, and returned to Canyon ville that evening. Mrs. Tom Watt Jr., Cub Scout den mother, held an Easter egg hunt for her cubs at her home on March 27. The regular busi ness meeting was held first, af ter which those participating in the hunt were Danny Mfftzen, Danny Farmer, Steve Farmer, Ricky Hogan, Earl Henley, Guy Sanders, Gary McMaster, Char les Whitten, Douglas Bennett, and Roger Freitas. Charles Whitten found the most eggs and won first prize. Guests were Roy Whitten, Billy Farmer and Tom mie and Ronnie Watt. Refresh ments consisted of a bunny cake complete with big eyes and long whiskers. Mrs. W. H. Farmer has been named to the position of assistant den mother. Easter week end guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Hodge will be their son and daughter-in-law and family, Dix on, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. William Oliver Hodge and Jimmy, Allen, and three-months old Beverly. Young Hodge is a teacher of music in the Dixon public schools. Lions Club Asks Circus Ticket Return Medford merchants who pur chased children's tickets for the Rudy Brothers circus here Tues day, April 3, have been asked to return unused tickets to Crater Lions club members for dis tribution through public schools. Club officials said they would like to receive unused tickets by Saturday, and may be left with Murrey Dumas at 30 North Riverside ave. The club is sponsoring the circus here.
