Young People Plan
2-Day Convention
At Friends Church
Christian Endeavorers from
three southern Oregon Friends
churches, Medford, Talent and
Ashland, will meet for a two
day convention Saturday and
Sunday at the Medford church,
with guest leaders from George
Fox college, Newberg.
Opening event will be a val
entine party Saturday, at 7:30
p.m., in the church social hall
for senior and intermediate
Christian Endeavorers. Games
and program will be planned by
the guest leaders, with local
young people furnishing refresh
ments and decorations for the
hall.
Sunday the young people from
the college will participate in
Sunday school and worship serv
ices at the three churches. At
3 p.m. a rally will be held for
senior, intermediate and junior
Christian Endeavorers at the
Medford church. Music, tips on
planning successful young peo
ple's meetings, and message by
a speaker will be included in the
program.
Christian Endeavor groups
will meet at 6:30 p.m., with
guest leaders. At 7:30 p.m. Doro
thy Barratt, president of Chris
tian Endeavor for Friends
churches in Oregon, Washington
and Idaho, will speaak. Other
visiting young people will give
testimonies and musical num
bers. "The Quaker Hour," Friends
radio program which originates
from studios at George Fox col
lege, will be broadcast locally
oyer station KMED at 9:30 p.m.
Pastor Announces
Dedication Rites
Dedication ceremonies will be'
conducted Sunday, Feb. 19 at
3 p.m., for the new location of
Philadelphia church at Grand
view ave., off old Crater Lake
highway, according to the pas
tor, Thomas White.
The church is nonsecretarian,
and self-governing, and teach
ings are Apostolic.
This is the culmination of a
vision of many years' standing
of the pastor, Thomas White. -
Sunday school will convene at
10 a.m., morning worship 11 a.m.
and Evangelistic services at 7:45
p.m. Street services will be re
sumed as soon as weather per
mits. The church has been con
ducting services at 122 North
Riverside. The public is invited.
THe Bible
In the 17th chapter of John, Christ teaches In very simple words how
a lost soul can become a christian.
BY BELIEVING AND RECEIVING HIS WORD.

Stephens to death were men who had resisted the Holy Ghost. Acts,
7:51. The world was never plagued with false prophets as it is today.
A true minister is called not to lord it over anyone but to PREACH

University Head
As Sunday Speaker
Dr. Thomas R. Bennett, head
of the department of philosophy
at Willamette university, Salem,
will speak at the first Methodist
church Sunday, Feb. 12, 9:30
and 11 a.m. Dr. Bennett received
the dean of philosophy degree
from the University of Chicago
and has studied in London, Eng
land under Professor Arnold J.
Toynbee as well. During the war
he was a, member of the United
States Air forcej in the 302nd
Bombardment group, and is an
active member of the American
Legion.
Dr. . J. Thomas Dixon, asso
ciate minister of the church,
will be in charge of the services.
The Youth choir and the Chan
cel choir, under direction of Mrs.
George Sloniger. and Mrs. C. R.
Adamson will sing. Mrs. How
ard Bush will be soloist for both

The final session of the winter
term of the School of Christian
Living will be held at 5:30 p.m.,
Sunday, Feb. 12 with interest
groups for all ages. George
Goodman, local businessman,
will speak to one of the adult
groups on the theme, "Some
Areas for local Action," and Ben
Schmidt will conclude a Mission
study of India in another adult

ducted at the Eastwood Baptist

at Ridgeway dr. The evening
is planned for the whole family,
and opens at 6:00 p.m. with a
snack supper. At 6:30 p.m.
classes for primary, junior-junior
high and adult groups will
be conducted. . '
A 7:30 pjn. Sunday, the film
strip "Strangers in Their Own
Land" will -be presented. The
film deals with Indian Ameri
cans. Other aspects of home and
foreign mission work will be
presented during the week that

The building, which cost about
$6,306,764 including equipment,
is expected to be ready for pa

be devoted to a new Doernbech
er ... Memorial hospital ; for chil

Included in the ,new 277-bed
medical school hospital will be
118 beds for children, 3 1 ; beds
for psychiatric patients and 128
beds for medical and surgical

Revival Campaign
Opens at Nazarene
A . spring revival campaign,
will get under way at. the
Church of Nazarene Wednesday,
Feb. 15. The Rev. Harold Volk,
and Lee Mansveld, Pasadena,
Calif., will be in charge. The
Rev. Mr. Void has conducted
evangelistic meetings in Med
ford in the past and has many
friends in the valley.
Mr. Mansveld, for several
years minister of music at First
Church of the Nazarene. at Pasa
dena, will furnish solos and lead
congregational singing and choir
work during the 11-day series.
