How muiy stars are in the sky? How many lovers you make sigh? How many sands are on the shore? I shall want just one kiss more. William Stirling-Maxwell. "Women who sing stay younger looking much longer than other females. That is because a sing er's cheek muscles are so well developed that her face does not sag as soon as that of a non singer. Among the Married Biologists claim the ideal mat rimonial combination for the production of unusual children is that of a tall, dark man and a short, plump brunette. Unfortu nately they prefer statuesque brunettes for matrimonial mates. That combination, say the biolo gists, is not a good one for the production of extraordinary chil dren. Super Highways Liberate Caracas From Mountains Caracas (U.R) New super highways are "liberating" this beautiful capital of Venezuela from the towering, majestic mountains that surround it. The new roads are part of booming Venezuela's public works program, in which $331, 000,000 was spent for new proj ects in the past year. Besides highways and bridges, these projects ranged from slaughter houses and sugar mills to vast low-income apartment develop ments designed to eliminate slums. Outstanding among roads com pleted in 1955 is a $5,000,000 four-lane highway through the mountains that separate Caracas from a flourishing industrial and farm region to the west. Formerly, commerce between the capital and the cities of Mar acay, Valencia and Barquisimeto was hampered by a winding road that caused both delays and accidents. Also completed under this year's program is the Autopista del Este, an extension of the $60,000,000 superhighway that sweeps from La Guaira,- Vene zuela's chief port, to Caracas. This extension cuts through the congested eastern part of Car acas and speeds up travel from the Caribbean coast to all parts of the city. Public Housing These two routes, along with a third being completed across the mountains that wall in Car acas to the south, have ' freed most of the city from the isola tion sought by its founders some 400 years ago. But the oil-rich history of Ven ezuela in the last two decades changed all that. The cultural and political capital of the coun try also has become a teeming industrial city with more than a million inhabitants and aggra vating traffic and housing prob lems. With space getting scarce, not only homes, but office build ings are sprouting up on the slopes of mountains to east and west of the city. One of the most impressive new commercial structures com pleted this year is the Esso Building, occupied by the Creole Petroleum corporation, a Stand7 ard Oil of New Jersey affiliate and Venezuela's biggest oil pro ducer. This year, 13 new low-income structures with a total of 1,950 apartments, and 52 four-story buildings of eight apartments each were completed for the housing of 11,800 persons living in nearby slums. Altogether, $43,000,000 was spent on low rent housing in the past year, the government report said. Tuesday, January 17, 1958 MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE SEVEN GRAIN REACHES INDIA Bombay, India .
