0 0 Annual Installation Held By Central Point Chapter Central Point Nevita chapter, Order of Eastern Star, held the annual installation of officers December 30, with Mrs. Melvin McGrew eing installed worthy matron for the coming year. The ceremonies were held in Central Point Masonic temple, with Mrs. Luther Day, retiring matron, and Harold Head, past patron, presiding. Members of Mrs. McGrew's family present were her daugh ter, Mrs. Wendell Vaughn, who was installed marshal; Mr. Vaugh; her son, Jerald McGrew; her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hendrickson; two nieces from Yreka, Calif., Misses Karole and Sandra Peterson; a brother and sister - in - law from Grants Pass, Mr. and Mrs. Ken neth Pellet; an aunt and uncle of Medford, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Allworth. Jerald McGrew presented his mother a gavel on behalf of the family, and Miss Sheryl Ann Vaughn, granddaughter, present ed her flowers. The chapter room was deco rated in green and gold, the ma tron's colors, and with a sheaf, a replica of a lodge symbol. On the decorations committee were Mrs. Ed Vincent, Mrs. Mer rill Harsh, Mrs. Richard Stratton and Mrs. Everett Faber. On the refreshment, committee were Mrs. Howard Jewett and Mrs, Leonard Freeman and the pro gram committee was Mrs. Strat ton, Mrs. George Brownell and Mrs. Faber. Mrs. Sam Mallon and Mrs. Leonard Scott served as hostesses. Job's Daughters Hold Initiation Medford Bethel 14 of Job's Daughters held initiation of can didates Wednesday night at the Masonic temple. Queen Rosalie Johnson presided. Initiated were the Misses Pam ela Gilkison, Linda-Jo Walter mire, Marion Parsons, Carmel White and Gail Stone. Following the meeting refresh ments were served in the din ing room. Mission Society To Study Indians Women's Mission society of Eastwood Baptist church will conduct a meeting Tuesday, Jan- uiary 10 at 1 p.m., concerning the American Indian. Toast mistress has a program devoted to speech Toastmistress' Club to Meet Tuesday Night Speakers scheduled for a meet ing of the Medford Toastmistress club Tuesday, January 10 are Mrs. Wallace Martin, who will review the book, "My Brother's Keeper," by Marcia Davenport, and Mrs. James Welch, club secretary. The meeting is set for 7:45 p.m., at KBOY radio station. Mrs. A. C. Cameron, newly elected president will preside. Invocation will be given by Mrs. J. R. Seiler. Mrs. Arnold Bohnert will be the toastmist ress and Mrs. James Van der Steen will be topicmistress. Mrs. Harry Marshall will be honored wth a shower of gifts. Tentative plans are being made by the group to hold a joint meeting January 24 with the Grants Pass Toastmistress club. The club extends an invita tion to all women of the area who are interested in speech training and self improvement to become members. The organization fosters free and open discussion, the discus sions to be without bias on all subjects, whether political, soc ial, economic, racial or religious. training and unbiased discussion of various political, social, economic and religious top ics. Meetings Slated by Four Home Extension Units During Week Four Jackson county home extension units have slated meet ings for the week. Three will be all-day sessions and one, Medford Parents unit, will convene in' the evening. Oak Grove The January meeting, of the Oak Grove Unit will be held at the home of Mrs. G. W. Kellington, 87!Perrydale avenue from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m., Tuesday, January 10. Luncheon will be prepared by Mrs. Allan Flinn, chairman, Mrs. Paul Larson, and Mrs. Ger ald P;arsons, and will be followed by a demonstration : on "The Art of Pressing and Tailoring Hints," given by Mrs. Robert Hubbard and Mrs. Vernon Turpin. Mothers who want child care should contact Mrs. S.' B. Sahd berg, telephone 3-5617, not later than noon, Monday, January 9. The Medford unit will meet at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday,. Janu ary 11, in the Community hall on Priddy street. ..- The project, "Identif icatids and Care of New Fabrics," will be given, in the afternoon by the county, home demonstration agent. All women interested are invited. . - Members are asked - to bring table service for themselves and their guests. Lunch is served for a small charge and child care is provided. Medford Parents unit will meet Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 7:30 p.m., at the home of Mrs. N. R. DeWitt, 320 North Keeneway. The project will be "The Art of Pressing New Fabrics." Leaders will be Mrs. H. H. Clement and Mrs. D. Fpusbury and the hostesses, Mrs. L. A. Ryerson and Mrs. L. VanGordon. Howard Mrs. H. E. Peyton, 1059 Crews road, will be hostess for the. Howard unit meeting, Thursday, January 12, at 10:30 a.m. Mrs. E. M. Gleason, unit chair man, has announced that Mrs. Joanne Weatherford, Jackson county, home extension agent, will present the lesson. Mrs. WeStherford's demonstration will be on the "Identification and Care of New Fabrics." Laun dering and . pressing methods of new miracle fabrics, and proper handling of woolen ma terials will -be discussed. Mrs. Robert Ottoman, lunch eon chairman, named the mem bers of the luncheon committee for the January meeting. They are Mrs. W. B. Breeden, Mrs. Henry Friesen, Mrs. N. F. Gier, Mrs. R. E. Central Point PTA To Hear Talk by SOC Professor Central Point Dr. Jack Mc Auley, professor of education at Southern Oregon : college, will speak at a meeting of Central Point Parent-Teacher association to be held Tuesday, January 10.' The meeting is set for 3:30 p.m. in the library of Central Point Junior High school. Dr. McAuley will talk - on "Phonetics." Since this is a con troversial topic, and since Dr. McAuley is considered an un usually well-informed and , able speaker, it is expected that the meeting will be well attended. All parents and friends are most cordially invited. Refreshments will be served prior to the business meeting by mothers of the fifth grade stu dents.
