One of the traditional New Year parties will be held this afternoon at the Colony club. Open house is planned from five to eight o'clock for members and their guests. Mrs. A. S. Cummins is president. Last evening, Mrs. Sprague Riegel was hostess for a small New Year's eve party at her home, Eden Valley orchard. Guests were invited to dinner and to watch the old year out. The party is an annual event. Another New Year's eve party was that given by Mr. and Mrs. Wilton White and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Mohr at the latter's home, 39 Glen Oak court. Friends were invited for cocktails. Mr. and Mrs. Edward P. Vilas were hosts last week for a buf fet supper) inviting friends of their daughter, Miss Cathy Vi las, and their son, Edward P. Vilas Jr., to the Vilas home 'in the country. Today Miss Vilas will return to her work as a teacher in the schools of Bakers field, Calif., after spending the holiday vacation here. Her brother returned home some time ago from El Paso, Tex., where he was assigned to duty with the armed forces. 6) Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Jackson gave a holiday party for their daughter, Miss Cynthia Jackson, who came up from San Francis co to spend the holidays with her parents. The event was an open house Thursday evening from four to seven o'clock and about 40 guestsattended. Miss Jackson will return to Califor nia tomorrow. rs, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Denning Camp White, were honored Fri day evening at a dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Shearin, Eagle Point. The Dennings and their child ren, Marilyn and Dick, are leav ing this nMith for Iowa City, la., Stuart-Morgan Marriage Rites Held in Medford Eagle Point Miss Darleen Joyce Morgan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James P. Morgan, Butte Falls Star Route, Eagle Point, and Donald G. Stuart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald W. Stuart, Route 1, Eagle Point, were mar ried December 21 at St. Mark's Episcopal church, Medford. The Rev. George R. V. Bolster performed the double ring cere mony at 6:45 o'clock in the eve ning. Miss Janet Stuart, a sister of the bridegroom, was bridesmaid, and Bill Littlefield of Shady Cove served as best man. Mr. Morgan gave his daughter in marriage. Her taffeta dress was blue and she carried a bouj quet of white carnations and lilies -of the valley. Miss Stuart also wore a blue dress with white accessories. About 20 p'ersons attended the wedding rites and 15 were at the reception heldQat the home of the bride's parents. The couple is living at Ocean- side, Calif. The bridegroom is serving with the infantry of the Marine corps. The bride attended both Med ford and Eagle Point- hgph chnnls and was graduated in 15155 from the latter. The bridegroom attended Med ford high schcpl. He also attend ed the United btates Armea Forces institute. MAIL TRIBUNE G. McKay (Classic Studios) where Mr. Denning will become assistant manager of the veter ans administration hospital. He has served in that position at the Camp White domiciliary for the past three years. . Mr. and Mrs. John Nichols of Eugene arrived Saturday to visit at the home of Dr. and Mrs. W. J. Miller, 1307 Queen. Anne avenue. Last evening they were hon ored guests at an informal gath ering of a few friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Hey sell, 301 Crater Lake avenue, to observer the New Year holiday. This afternoon a small group of friends of the Nichols has been invited to the Miller home. The couple visits frequently in the valley. r Mr. and Mrs. Edward P. Bar nett,and Mrs. and Mrs. Louis Thurman were hosts for a party New Year's eve at the Barnett home, 425 Ardmore avenue. The guests mainly were from the neighborhood and 18 attended. An early buffet supper was served and charades and musical recordings were diversions of the evening. Among the guests were two couples who ' are visiting from out-of-town for the holidays, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Conant, Eu gene, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wicks. Mrs. Conant is the former Miss Betty Crow and they are houseguests at the O. H. Bengt son home. The Wicks are houseguests of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hensel- Mr. and Mrs. J.-W. Barnard and their son, Dick, were hosts Wednesday night for a party at their home, 19 Geneva street. Guests were young men who had been classmatfe of the Bar nard's son at Medford Hifh school, and their parents. Thirty four1 attended. Dick Barnard is a senior at the University of Oregon. . Mr. and Mrs.. Stephen R. Mo sher, 332 Ardmore avenue, were hosts for a Tom and Jerry party Friday night at their home. Four teen couples attended. Holiday guests of the Moshers were Mr. Mosher's mother, Mrs. G. B. Schmid, and Mr. Schmid, West port, Wash. They left Wednes day. Among parties for the young er set during the holidays was an afternoon open house and "platter" party held by Miss Jacqueline Colton at the home of her parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Sam Colton, 1619 East Main street. The event was no-host and was attended by classmates of the Junior class at the Med ford Senior high school. Another event was arranged by Miss Sandra Califf who in vited 14 high school girls to as semble at her home before at tending a no-host dinner Tues day evening at Mary's casa.. January 1, 1958 Church Ceremony Marries Cynthia Hunt, Donald M cKay Miss Cynthia Lee Hunt is a holiday bride, her wedding to Dr. Donald G. McKay having been an event of December 19. The mar riage vows were read by the Rev. C. W. Frost at Apostolic Faith church at 7:30 o'clock in the evening. Two hundred guests attend ed the ceremony and the reception which followed in the church reception hall. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur R. Hunt, 802 Crater Lake avenue, and the bridegroom is a son of Mr. ad Mrs. Ralph McKay, 1010 Sunset avenue. The bride's wedding gown was of heavy slipper satin trim med with sequins and pearls and she carried an arm bouquet of white roses centered with a white ruby-throated orchid. Mrs. Dwane Lehman of Eagle Point, the bridegroom's sister, was honor attendant. Shg wore a frock of yellow embossed taf feta with net overskirt and car aried white chrysanthemums. Her headband was also of chrys anthemums and net. Miss Kathlgen McCollum and Miss Sharon Hunt, the bride's sister, were bridesmaids. Miss McCollum wore pink and Miss Hunt blue embossed taffeta, bal lerina length. Their bouquets and headbands also were of white chrysanthemums and net. Jan Brown, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Her frock was of orchid-colored taffeta with net overskirt. Miss Connie Hunt, the bride's sister, and Miss Carol Brown, her cousin, lighted the candles. Miss Hunt wore blue and Miss Brown a yellow frock and their headbands were Season in Valley rad. John Frohnmayer entertained last evening at a New Year's party for about 25 young per sons, all eighth grade students, some from McLoughlin junior high school, and others from Lone Pine school and Hedrick Junior high school. The most of the group are members of a dancing class at the Rogue yal ley Country club and dancing was the main diyerson of the evening. A buffet supper was served at 11 p.m. Eagle Point ; Mr. and Mrs. Vinson cYaughan and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Chamberlain were hosts New Year's-eve for a din ner and- watch night party, at the Vaughan home at High Meadows ranch. Second Concert Set For Friday Second in the series of this season's Cyic Music association concerts will bes given Friday, January 6 at the Medford Sen ior iign scnool aucutonum. Performing will be the Zurich Little symphony, conducted by Edmond de Stoutzj Comprised of 27 young musi cians the symphony, since its in ception in 1952, has appeared re peatedly in Germany, Italy, France and Spain, as well as in its native Switzerland and city. The first foreign concert for the symphony was in Flris in March, 19,53 and as a result the group wa engaged to perform at the Menton festival. Also as a result of the Paris concert they were invited to make an exten sive tour of France and Spain on the following season. Concert time is 8 p.m. Holts Celebrate 54th Anniversary ed their 54th wedding anniver sary December 28 at dinner at the Mon Desir dining inn, Ci tral Point. With them was their daughter, Mrs. Helen Holt Wil son. Their only other child, Mrs. Joseph T. Boulet, telephoned her parents earlier that day. of white -chrysanthemums and net. Dwane Lehman, Eagle Point, was best man for his brother-in-law and seating the guests was Paul Brown, cousin of the bride, and Nolan Roby. Bob Brown, cousin of the bride, and Efton Jones were groomsmen. Miss Grace Iverson played the wedding music and Don Wolfe was soloist for the ceremony. Baskets filled with chrysanthe mums and candles decorated the church. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Hunt wore a dark brown two-piece gabardine dress with blue and brown accessories and white carnation corsage. The bridegroom's mother wore a two- piece dress of mauve with deep pink and navy blue accessories and white carnation corsage. Mrs. Bob Brown and Mrs. Merle Vance poured for the re ception, and the Misses Joan and Ellen Brown cut the wedding cake. The bride, who was graduated from Medford High school with the class of 1955, is on the staff of the Medord Public library. Dr. McKay, who was 'graduated from Medford schools, attended Southern Oregon college and later was graduated from Logan Basic College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Mo. He later did grad uate work at Western States Col lege of Chiropractic, Portland, arid is now serving with the medical corps of the United States 'Army. He left Medford December 27 Jor Ft. Held in Tennessee0 Jacksonville News of the wedding of Miss Nancy Ann Smith and Sgt. Leonard Wick sten, December 10 at Clarks ville, Tenn., has been received by relatives of the bridegroom. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Marvin E. Smith, Clarks ville, Tenn., and the late Mr. Smith. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Wick sten, Jacksonville. The Rev. Marvin E. Hines read the ceremony at the New Providence Baptist church. Miss Ellen Atkins,, a cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. Leroy Clay, Jacksonville, was best man. The bride has been employed in the comptroller's office of the civil service at Ft. Campbell, Ky., where the bridegroom is stationed. He is. attached to the 188th air borne regimental com bat team with the 11th air Dome unit. He 'attended' Jacksonville high school and was graduated in 1953. " v Murphys Return From Trip South Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Murphy, I Ross lane, arrived home by plane the first of the week from Berkeley, Calif. There they spent Christmas eve with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Hamlin at the home of his mothar, Mrs. Ina Hamlin. Christmas day the group was at the Warren Hamlins' for dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Murphy also visited in Placerville, Calif., their former home, before ar riving at Berkeley. Harmon, 509 West Jackson street, Med ford, and the bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Miller, 12342 North Riverside avenue in this city. Herbert Daniels was soloist for the ceremony. Sprays of cedar and holly with white chrysanthe mums decorated the church, which was lighted by white candles decorated with holly sprigs. The bride wore a street length gown of eggshell bro caded satin fashioned with fit ted (toodice and full skirt. Her il lusion veil was held by a crown of seed pearls and she carried a bouquet of white , spider chry santhemums. Her pearl necklace was .the bridegroom's gift and she also wore a pearl ring which is an heirloom in the bride groom's family. Miss Mary Lou Murphy was maid-of-honor. Her frock was of lavender; net and taffeta, baller ina length, and she carried a co lonial bouquet of yellow chrys anthemums which matched her headdress. , Mrs. Howard L. Lehman was matron-of -honor for her sister, Mrs. Ronald Bean was . brides- matron and Miss Norma Gran ger, bridesmaid. They wore bal lerina' frocks of blue taffeta and net and their bouquets and head dresses were of "yellow chrys anthemums. Nancy and Debbie Lehman, nieces of the bride, were flower girls. Their matching frocks we're of lavender organdy ad net worn with matching head bands and white Bylon gloves. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Harmon werean afternoon dress of navy blue crepe trim med with pink arid her acces sories were pink and navy blue. Her corsage was of white carna tions. The Very Rev. Nicholas Dies arranged for the event. Bruno Pellegrini directs the choir and plays organ accompa niment and the Rev. Robert Tomisser is the clerical adviser. Daughter Leaves Ashland Miss Lucille Peroz zi, Los Angeles, left yesterday after a holiday visit at the home of her- mother, Mrs. Louise Pe rozzi, Grant street. She is with the Los Angeles county health department, and was formerly with the United States public health service in Cairo, Egypt.
