(Landis-Shangle photo). ,V Ir- - - -'3 , 1 1 Many Parties'Mark Calendar; Annual Dance Planned at Club Many holiday parties enliven ed the social calendar last week, and others are planned for the coming week. Largest of the coming parties will be the annual New Year's eve formal dinner and dance at the Rogue Valley Country club. Departing from the usual holiday theme, the dance will have a nautical motif, suggesting a "bon voyage" into 1956 for the club members. Hours will be from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. and is for members and out-of-town guests only. Mr. andgVlrs. Ed Milne and Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Barrell are' co-chairmen of the event. Tomorrow afternoon Dr. and Mrs. B. L. Lagson, Glen Oak Court, will hold open house for their daughters, Mrs. James Vranizan and Miss Margo Lage son, Mr. Vranizan and Miss Lagesons fiance, Robert Rever man. All four came down from Portland for the holidays. Friends af the young people have been invited to call between two and four o'clock. Last Thursday evening Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Thierolf were Dsts for a small holiday cock tail party. They invited friends to their " home, 91 Black Oak drive. Mr. and Mrs. Myers Jones weft hosts December 17 for an open fcouse, held at their home, 813 Minnesota avenue. Friends were invited to call between five affd 7 o'clock in the evening. The house was decorated with the traditional holly and candles. Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Denning. Camp White, entertained a small group of friends Tuesday even ing at a dinner party. Guests saw pictures taken by Mr. and Mrs. E. K. Ricker during a trip this year to Japan. Mr. Ricker is manager of th Camp White domicliary. The home of Dr. and Mrs. Dwight H. Findley, Old Stage road, will be the scene of one of the many nohost New Year's eve events. A small group of friends will gather there for a watch-party. Mr. and Mrs. James Keeble, Jacksonville-Phoenix road, en tertained Christmas eve for num erous friends and their children. The Keebles, who formerly lived on Black Oak dfive, have tra ditionally entertained on Christ mas eve for neighbors and their families. Durg the past year they moved to the former Kenly home in the country south of Medford. Family Here Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Davis and children," Marcia, Dennis and Helen, Oakland, Calif., all for mer residents, were breakfast guests Friday 'at the home of Mrs. May Brown, 2580 Stewart avenue. The family was. en route to visit through the holidays with Mrs. Davis' parents, near Selma, Ore. ' In Coquille Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Kennedy, 1033 Court street, are in Co quille. today to visit a sister of Mrs. Kennedy. They will return Monday. r Sunday, Deembr 25, 1355 Barnum-Green Rites Held At Episcopal Church Here One of the season's largest weddings was that of Miss Barbara Lee Green to William Berthold Barnum Jr., held Sunday, Decem ber 18, at St. Mark's Episcopal church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George S. Green, 1410 Euclid avenue, and the bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Berthold Barnum, South Pacific highway. The Rev. George R. V. Bolster performed the marriage cere mony at three o'clock in the afternoon, with 350 guests at tending. The reception followed at Rogue Valley Country club. The bride was given in mar riage by her father. Her wedding gown of imported Chantilly lace and pleated nylon tulle over satin, was designed with long sleeves and skirt ending in a cathedral length train. Her finger-tip length veil was held by a jeweled headpiece and she carried a bridal bouquet of orchids. - Mrs. Russell Jamison, sister of the bridegroom, was honor at tendant. Bridesmaids were Miss Jane Durno, Miss Jean Runtz, Miss Leora Andrews and Miss Joan Dean. They wore ballerina style frocks of white lace fash ioned with three-quarter length sleeves and portrait necklines. Their headdresses were of white feathers with short veils and they carried bouquets of poin settias. . Small Anne Donahue, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Thpmas Donahue, was flower girl and Steven Note, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Note, was ring bear er. Anne wore a frock of peau de soie with feathered headdress and carried a basket of flowers. Three brothers of the bride, George S. Green Jr., Gerald Green and Donald Green, were ushers, and additional ushers were Russell Jamison, Richard Runyard and Charles Sams. Mrs. Ernest Conrad was at .the church organ arid vocal soloist was Allen Lehl. Poinsettias and tapers deco rated the church, and the cere mony was read by candlelight. Assisting with the reception were Mrs. Thomas Donahue, Mrs. Robert Gaines, Mrs. Wil liam Singler, Mrs. Peter Trim, Mrs. Harold Skinner, Mrs. Rob ert DeVoe, Mrs. Herbert Wilson and Mrs. Roger Note. In Medford for the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. William S. Barnum, brother and "sister-in-law of the bridegroom, Altadena, Calif.; Mrs. Joan Beston Gam mill, San Francisco;. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Weeks, Lafayette, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hilton, Grants Pass. The bride's table was ap pointed in white and silver and a large ring of holly encircled the cake, which was decorated with sprigs of holly. For the wedding and recep tion the bride's mother wore a gown of beige-pink lace over taffeta." Her corsage was an or chid of deep lavender color. The bridegroom's mother wore a gown of dark green velvet with fur stole and orchid corsage. The newlyweds are spending a honeymoon at Palm Springs, Calif., and will live in Eugene where both will enroll for the winter term at the University of Oregon. The bride, who has been a stewardess for United Airlines, formerly attended the university and is a member of Alpha Phi sorority. The bride groom served with the United Recent Bride Joins Husband At Texas Fort , Mrs. Larry K. Shepherd, the former Miss Nadine Helen Cook, left recently for Ft. Hood, Tex., to join her husband, who is sta tioned there with the .United States Army. The couple was married October 19 at the Lat ter Day Saints' temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Cook, 912 South Holly street and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Bartley R. Shepherd, 2780 Lone Pine road. Following the ceremony the newlyweds returned to Medford where a reception was held in their honor at the Latter Day Saints' church on South Ivy street October 24.- The bride's wedding gown was of white satin and lace and her corsage was a large orchid. Mr. and Mrs. Green were hosts for the rehearsal dinner Sat urday night, entertaining at their home, and following the wed ding Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Bar num were hosts for a buffet supper at their home. Newlyweds : Visit Here; Honored .Mr. and Mrs. Leo Miksche, who were married in New York City December 13, are in Med ford as guests of the bride groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond A. Miksche, and other relatives. The bride is the former Elaine Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Pashenz, Brooklyn, N. Y. She engages in public relations work in New York City, and the bridegroom is a commercial artist. The wedding ceremony took place at the home of the bride's parents. The bride wore a gown of ivory brocade with headdress of mistletoe and holly and her old-fashioned bouquet was of white roses, mistletoe and holly. : A reception and champagne supper for 150 guests followed the wedding ceremony. Mr. Miksche and his bride were honored last Sunday at a cocktail party given by his par ents and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Miksche at the latter's home, 2216 East Siskiyou boulevard. They will remain in Medford until after New Year's day and will then spend -some time in San Francsico. Returning to the east coast, they will be at home at 359 East Fiftieth street in New York City. Also visiting in Medford are the Miksches' other son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Miksche, Prineviile. Mr. Miksche is with Radio Station KRCO in Prineviile. Church Service . In Eagle Point To Marry Couple Lake Creek Friends and relatives of Miss Maxine Walch, Lake Creek, and Edmond Alfred Peile, Eagle Point, are invited to attend the couple's wedding, which will be . held Thursday,. December 29 at 8 p.m., in the Eagle Point Community church. Both are 1954 Eagle Point high school graduates. The bride elect has made her home with Mrs. Emma Messal at Lake Creek and her fiance is a son of Mr. and Mrs.- Alfred Peile, Eagle Point. He has been study ing diesel engineering at Ore gon Technical institute and the couple will live in Klamath Falls. Among prenuptial events held in Miss Walch's honor was a bridal shower Mrs. Messal. at the home of To Leave Miss Myrta Otterdale, chief operator for the Pacific Tele phone and Telegraph company, plans to leave here Thursday, December 29 for San Francisco to spend the New Year's week end. She will visit friends and at tend the East-West game. Daughter Here Miss Elizabeth Collins has ar rived from Eugene where she is doing post graduate work at the University of Oregon. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Collins, 2224 East Main street. LAWRENCE'S 130 EAST MAIN Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Gellura (Brainerd photo) Cellur a-Bishop Ceremony Held in Methodist Church Central Point Miss Darlene Victoria Bishop became the bride of Leonard Cellura in a ceremony read December 10 at 7 o'clock in the evening at First Methodist church. The Rev. E. Balcomb officiated. ' The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Bishop, Cent dal Point and the bridegroom is a son of Mrs. Jerome Cellura, also of Central Point, and. the late Mr. Cellura. The bride's grown was of chantilly type lace and nylon tulle. The bodice was trimmed with sequins and the full skirt was designed with cathedral train. A crown of sequins and seed pearls held her circular veil of imported silk illusion. The bride's bouquet was of white roses and red carnations. Mr. Bishop gave his daughter in mar riage. Mrs. James Hall was here from Sacramento, Calif., to be the honor attendant. Sisters of the bride, Miss Sylvia Bishop, Miss Margie Bishop, and Miss Lona Bishop and a sister of the bridegroom, Miss Virginia Cel lura, all of Central Point, were bridesmaids. Mrs. Hall wore a red net bal lerina length grown with white velveteen bolero jacket and car ried a white fur muff. Her head dress was trimmed with rhine stones.. The four bridesmaids wore white ballerina length, lace and net gowns trimmed with red roses. Their velveteen jackets were red and their headpieces were outlined with rhinestone trim. They also carried white fur muffs. Diana Davis was flower girl and David Saxbury carried the rings. Candlelighters were Miss Tom Compagnoni, Medford, ,-and Jimmy Evernden. The flower girl wore a gown designed and made the same as that of the bride's gown and she carried a basket of white carnations with holly. Miss Com pagnoni's ; dress was ballerina length red net and her head piece was covered with rhine stones. Her bolero was of white velveteen and she also carried a white muff. Ted McCoy was best man. Ushers were Paul Willingham, Jack Burns, Danny Durant and Tommy Rupp. White chrsysanthemums and red carnations with holly dec orated the altar. White bells with satin streamers marked the pew ends. The bride's mother wore a beige colored lace dress with blue accessories and the bride groom's mother wore a lace and net dress of dusty rose color with black accessories. Both had white carnation corsages. Mrs. Richard Schuchard play ed the wedding marches and Mrs. C. L. Robinson accompanied Larry Brunette and Amos Bis hop, vocal soloists. . At the . reception Mrs. Earl Fichtner played the organ. Miss Anice Hobbs took charge of the wedding book at the re ception held in the church rooms. About 300 guests attended the wedding and about 200 were at the reception. from Arnold - Bob - Ann Est. 1903 The tiered wedding cake was in the form of a cross and holly was used to decorate the base of the cake and the bride's table. Mrs. Isobel Ross and Mrs. J. R. Compagnoni served the cake and pouring punch were Mrs. Lilla Pompbso, Mrs. Frank Verderame .and Mrs. James Pomposo. Out-of-town relatives at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs Jennings Molotti, brother-in-law and sister of the bride, and Mr. and Mrs. Olin Carter, a brother and sister-in-law and family, from Los Angeles; Mrs. Angelina Verderame, an aunt of the bride groom, Mrs. Jack Pomposo, another aunt, and Mr. and Mrs. James Pomposo, an uncle and an aunt, and family, all from San Francisco. The bride" attended Crater High school and is employed at the La Casita cafe.' The bride groom, who is employed at the Rogue River Valley Creamery, attended Central Point high school. Presents will be unwrapped, friends will call and groups will gather around daily decorated tables for the traditional Christmas dinner of turkey, ham or goose:" Four generations "will be to-f gether today at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy McLaughlin, Old Military road. Mrs. Robert Baber, Los An geles, is visiting here with the McLaughlins, Mrs. McLaughlin being her daughter. Mrs. Ba ber's other daughter, Mrs. John White, Springfield, a former Medford resident, will attend with her son-in-law and daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. John Esp, Eagle Point will be Mrs." White's other son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mayfield, Springfield, former resident, with their children, Marsha and Grant. The McLaughlins' sort and daughter-in-law; Mr. and Mrs. Ardyn McLaughlin, and chil dren, Arydn Jr., Ronald, Eileen, Patrick and Colleen, will be at the dinner from Medford. Mr. and Mrs. C. Elwood Hed- berg will be hosts for a family dinner at their home, 1206 East Main street. Attending will, be Mr. Hedberg's sister, Mrs. Agnes Henning and her son, Philip, Ashland; Mrs. Elwood B. Hed berg, their daughter-in-law, and three children, and Mr. Hed berg's mother, Mrs. Sarah Hed- berg, who makes her home with her son and daughter-in-law. . The host's son, Elwood B. Hedberg, is one of the engineers of The California-Oregon Power company on duty at Toketee Falls today helping to repair damage caused by the recent heavy rains and floods. Central Point Mr. and Mrs. C. H. McKibben, route 2, box 865, Central Point, will be hosts today for a dinner at their home. This morning they will be guests of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin C. McKib ben at route 2, box 863, Central Point, for breakfast and the op' ening of gifts. To be at the dinner at the C. H. McKibbens will be their son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Max Berry, Boise, Ida., Mr. and Mrs; Fred Brown, Medford, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ward, Gold Ray dam. Bender Jr., Seattle; another daughter, Miss Jeanene Findley, Portland, teacher, and her fiance, Gerald Franklin Bartz, Portland attor ney; their 'son, Jack Findley, freshman at Willamette -Sniver-sity; a friend, Charles L. Jensen, Ketchikan, Alaska, student at Oregon State college; Mr. Bend er's parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. B. Bender, MeHford, and Miss Gail Bender, their daughter, a student at the Helen Bush school in Seattle. Among those present will be Mr. and Mrs. Fred K. Deuel who recently ar rived in Medford from Beverly Hills, Calif., for a stay here ot several weeks. Guest Here James Lynch, Portland, is a house guest this week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Dempster, 1025 South Holly street. He accompanied their daughter, Miss Janet Dempster, who is spending the holidays here from Oswego where she is a student at' Marylhurst college. Mr. Lynch is with the Portland Oregonian circulation department.
