Chest X-Ray The chest x-ray unit at Sacred Heart hospital will be in operation Thursday, Dec. 8, from 2 to 5 p.m. The service is open to the public and holiday shoppers are invited to drop by during those hours for chest x-rays. L. O. Boomer, chairman of the unit, said. Law Class Meeting The ex tension class, "Law for Lay men," will meet at 7:30 p.m. to day in Room 21v of Medford High school. Attorney Carl M. Brophy, of McAllister, Duncan and Brophy, will speak on wills, probate and taxation. He will cover the descent of real and personal property at death, and various aspects of probate: the execution of wills and the situations which call for a will, as well as features of state and federal taxation with particular emphasis on estate and inheri tance taxes. Lewis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Irving L. Lewis, 1479 Orchard Home dr., Medford, re cently advanced to teleman third class in the Navy. He com peted in fleet examinations for the rate. He is now stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. His wife is the former Miss Elsie Francis Jackson, 1479 Or chard Home dr. He enlisted in the Navy in August, 1954. ADOARD DESTROYER James R. Sen. Warren G. Magnuson (D-Wash.) said to day. The agency has funds avail able for low-interest loans in disaster areas. Former Dalles Official Held for Embezzlement The Dalles (U.R) A former The Dalles city clerk-treasurer was arraigned in Wasco County Circuit Court yesterday on a charge of converting $2,678 to private use.' The arraignment of A. C. Grin die, 39, followed indictment by a grand jury after a day and a half of deliberations. The money was missing from the city's general fund. Obituaries GERTRUDE CLARKE Funeral serices for Gertrude May Larkin Clarke of Gold Hill, who died Sunday, 'were held in Conger-Morris chapel at 1:30 p.m. today. The Rev. J. Thomas Dixon of the First Methodist church officiated. Committal was in Siskiyou Memorial park. Mrs. Clarke was Born March 28 1879 in Plattsburg N.Y. On Oct. 12, 1907, at Kane, Pa., she was married to John R. Clarke who survives. Also surviving is a brother, W. H. Larkin, Tampa, Fla. GEORGE NEWBERRY Funeral services for George W. Newberry, 70, of 334 North Holly st., who died Monday, will be held in Conger-Morris chapel at 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Father Robert Tomisser of the Sacred Heart Catholic church will officiate. Committal will be in Memory Gardens Memorial park. Honorary pallbearers will in clude Earl Miller, Lee Mellish, Michael Beck, Thomas Flynn, Leland Knox and Arthur Hardy. Active pall bearers will include Frank Runtz, Alva Perkins, No ble Vincent, Larry Schade, An thony Capello and Eston Hum phrey. Mr. Newberry was born May 24, 1885, in Corvallis, Ore. He came to Medford in 1919, and owned and operated the Med ford Business college since then. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and the Lions club. Neuberger (D-Ore.) today urged restoration of the GI bill of rights and said America was in danger of discarding the ba sic principle of "equality of sac rifice." Neuberger told students at an Oregon State College meeting that "at a time of unprecedented corporation profits from the manufacture of armaments, the real benefits of the GI bill of rights have been eliminated for the soldiers who must use those armaments." Criminologist Called In Burton Abbott Case Oakland, Calif. (U.R) ! The prosecution called a noted crim inologist to the stand today in an attempt to prove through sci ence that Burton W. Abbott kid naped and murdered Stephanie Bryan. The criminologist was Dr. Paul L. Kirk of the University of California, who has devoted a quarter of a century to solving crime with his microscope. He is the 53rd and possibly . last prosecution witness. District Attorney J. Frank Coakley said the prosecution might rest immediately after Kirk finishes testifying. (U.R) Dr. Frank Sainburg was arrested yester day in a Yuma hotel with his four-year-old son and the four-year-old step-daughter he alleg edly threatened to kill, police disclosed today. Sainburg, a Big Spring, Tex., surgeon who disappeared with the two children from his home last Friday, was arrested in a Yuma hotel where he was reg istered under the name of Jack Carpenter. The children, Philip Sainburg II, his son by a previous mar riage, and Mary Jean Nance, the daughter of his present wife, were unharmed. The Oregon Legislature laQ session appropriated $60,000 to buy the bonds in case they can not be bought on the open mar ket.
