Circuit Judge James W. Craw ford ruled out the test on legal grounds. He said the results of a lie detection test could not be considered reliable evidence in court. Wolf is scheduled to appear before a jury at 2 p.m. next Monday for a hearing to deter mine his degree of guilt and the penalty he will pay for the death of Kermit Smith. Back Stairs: Sale Sign Worries Ike By FRANK ELEAZER United Press Correspondent Gettysburg, Pa. (U.R) Backstairs at the Gettysburg White House: President Eisenhower's closest neighbor put his place up for sale over the week end. This probably is going to wor ry Mr. Eisenhower, who has bought up most of the other tracts in his immediate vicinity in an effort to head off any un desirable commercialization. "I guess I am asking a lot for the place," said Hugh Keckler, the President's 30-year-old neigh bor, a Navy veteran. Keckler bought his 2Vz acres and frame farm hjuse about five years ago, just before the President set prices soaring by buying his place across the road. Keckler wants $15,000 for his place. He told a reporter he would prefer not to say what he paid for it. It is the kind of house, however, that normally wouldn't be expected to bring too much of a price. Among its features are city water but an outside toilet. The property boasts a small barn and a couple of minor outbuildings. The President bought his orig inal tract of 189 acres, an old house, and a big serviceable barn for $24,000. Although this is all that is recorded as his, it is com mon knowledge here that he is the real owner of additional tracts held in other names, boosting his total holdings to almost 500 acres. What these other tracts cost has not been disclosed, but the President not long ago was de ploring the local land boom bas ed on his presence. He said some asking prices hereabouts were out of reason. Keckler said an agent of the President came around to see him a1 out three years ago about buying up his property but that at that time he did not want to Room Five Wins Mack Toy Drive Campaign Home room five at McLough lin Junior High school won the annual toy drive contest, Fred Funstpn, president of the student body, has announced. The drive is held in coopera tion with the Medford fire de partment's Christmas program. Home rooms 26 and 27 were runners-up in the school compe tition. Funston also announced elec tion of advisors for three, class organizations which are under way with winter activities. Lou ise Davis is seventh grade advis or, Bob Williams is eighth grade advisor, and Anne Gentle is ninth grade advisor. HOLLAND TALKS IN CHILE Santiago, Chile (U.R) Presi dent Carlos Ibanez and Assistant U.S. Secretary of State Henry F. Holland conferred' privately Monday. They were believed to have reviewed Chile's most pressing economic problems. sell. "I expect somebody will be around to see me again as soon as the President hears my sign is up," Keckler said. Keckler's place is across the road from the President's front gate. His front porch looks across the President's fields and up to his big barn. Because of the lie of the land, Mr. Eisenhower's newly-rebuilt and expanded farm home is not visible. Keckler never has met his dis tinguished neighbor although they have exchanged waves now and then as the President drives by. But Keckler is well-acquainted with the President's property. He is a good friend of Ivan Feaster, the President's young farmer, and he and his wife and three children visit frequently at the Feasters' home, close to the Eisenhowers. PRIDE LEADS TO JAIL Detroit (U.R) Louis G. Ne gron, 35-year-old father of 10, was in trouble today because of his pride. He told federal agents he set up a still in his home and sold moonshine rather than go on relief. RECKLESS DRIVING CHARGE Colorado Springs, Colo. (U.R! Edward Ernest Higgins will stand trial next month on a charge he recklessly drove 100 miles 'per hour. Higgins, 29, was born without arms. " - ..
