Low in Cost! Only Ambitious Ones Said Anxious To Hear ike Disclose Plans Washington (U.R) Sen. Irving M. Ives (R-N.Y.), said to day that "only ambitious, poten tial candidates" for the 1956 GOP presidential nomination are anxious for President Eisenhow er to make an early announce ment of 1956 plans. He made this comment after he and other Eisenhower parti sans were given fresh cause for optimism that the President may seek reelection despite a heart attack two months ago. Chairman Leonard W. Hall of the Republican National commit tee visited Mr. Eisenhower at Gettysburg, Pa., Monday and said he felt "very much' encour aged" that the President would run again. He made it clear, how ever, that the Chief Executive did not say or indicate what his second term decision will be. . Sees No Early Announcements He added that he' does not ex pect any official announcement from Mr. Eisenhower for sever al months. On the Democratic side, Adlai E. Stevenson chided Michigan Gov. G. Mennen Williams for criticizing Stevenson's call for a "moderate" approach to national issues. "I should say I hope Govern or Williams is not in favor of immoderation," Stevenson told reporters at Jacksonville, Fla., "perhaps he didn't read my speech and I should send him a copy." Ives was reminded that some Republicans notably Senate GOP Leader William F. Knowland, have indicated a relief that Mr. Eisenhower's announcement will probably come by early January. "Everyone else among Republicans wants him to run again and are willing to wait. We don't want to rush him." A similar viewpoint was voic ed by another staunch Eisenhow er backer, Sen. Gordon Allott (R-Colo.), who said he felt the world situation is such that Mr. Eisenhower has more to contri bute than any other potential candidate. "I feel it would be a mistake to urge a hasty decision just to get an early decision," Allott said. He added that there would be plenty of time for other possible GOP candidates to test their strength in the later presidential primaries if Mr. Eisenhower should rule himself out. Deadlines fall about Feb. 1 for candidates to file in New Hamp shire, Minnesota and Ohio pres idential primaries. Peron Successor Going To U. S. for Treatment Buenos Aires (U.R) Gen.
