Local and Claim Located A placer claim has been located in the Willow creek area, near Central Point, by Len E. Shelton, ac cording to records in the Jack--son county recorder's office. Vicioui Doq Guy O. Wilcox, route 1, box 414, Gold Hill, was fined S55 in district court Sat urday on a charge of permitting a vicious animal to run at large. He was here for about 30 days on leave. He has served in Bermuda for near ly two years. Christmas Bazaar The First Christian church will hold a Christmas bazaar and food sale at the corner of Ninth st. and Oakdale ave. Thursday, Dec. 1. Hit and Run Dewey Marvin Sparling, 511 Plum st., reported to city police Sunday that his car was hit by another vehicl while parked on private proper ty at 1182 Court st. A car back ed into the Sparling vehicle damaging the front end, accord ing to city police. Mother Here Mrs. Viva Lin damood, Beaverton, Ore., is vis iting here with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. P. E. Morgan, 726 Broad st., until aft er the Christmas holidays. She returned with the Morgans re cently when they made a vaca tion trip to Vancouver, B.C. Week End Visit Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Rowan, Salem, visited here for the week end en route to Los Angeles, where he will attend an American Hotel convention. Rowan, president of the Oregon State Hotel associa tion, is general manager of the Chadwick hotels of which the Jackson hotel is one. He will substitute for Harry Heathman, Portland, at a meeting of the national board of directors which precedes the convention sessions Dec. 1. In Parade Bliss Heine's Jun iors will meet in uniform at the Library park, West Main and Ivy sts., at 6 p.m. tomorrow to participate in the Christmas par ade. Last week Roy R. Picard of Picard's Jewelers in the Big Y' building offered special awards to the Juniors, one to the boy and one to the girl making the highest, rating in the annual tests in February. The award is a choice between a wrist watch or a solid gold birthstone ring. In case of a tie equal awards will be made. Many new members have recently joined the Juniors and others have indicated their intention of joining soon. The Applegates are former residents of Salem. Clifford In Hospital F. J Clifford, 1211 West Main st., has been in Sacred Heart hospital since last week end for medical treatment of a heart ailment, friends and relatives have re ported. He is said to be in fair condition, -but no visitors are permitted. Relatives Visit Mr. and Mrs. Jack Prescott Jr., and Mrs. Pres- cott's brother. Earl McAllister, all of Roy, Wash., visited over the week end with their mother, Mrs. Clyde Walters, 36 Chestnut st., and their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gist, 556 Haven st. They were en route from Klamath, Calif., where they spent Thanksgiving day with their father. Jailed Gary Herbert Wood ward, 22, of 416 South Grove land ave., was lodged in Jack son county jail Saturday, pend ing payment of a fine imposed on a charge of having an inade quate muffler. Woodward, who was fined S20 in district court was cited Oct. 23 and failed to appear. Glenn LeRoy Johnson, 19, Gold Hill, was fined $20.50 in district court Friday on a charge of improper muffler, and jailed pending payment of the fine. Johnson was cited Sept. 23. mm Son Born Lt. and Mrs. R. J. Camden are the parents of a son born Sunday, Nov. 27, according to information reeived here by Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Holmes, Grif fin Creek road. The child, first born to the Camdens, has been named Bradford Jay. Mrs. Cam den, the former Cecile Morris, and her husband both attended Medford schools and Mrs. Cam den made her home with the Holmes. Lieutenant Camden is now assigned to duty with the Air Force at Payne base, Everett, Wash. Entertainers Here Margaret and Lowell Ketch, husband and wife team appearing under the professional name of the Mar- Lowe Duo, will be guest enter tainers at the Wooden Shoe in the Holland hotel tonight. Mr. and Mrs. Ketch at one time lived here and are known to many, Mrs. Ketch having played in Footlighter productions and her husband at Rogue Valley Coun try club. Thefts Three thefts were re ported to city police yesterday. James Edwin Byrd, 423 Berry dale ave., reported the theft of his bicycle stolen some time dur ing the night of Nov. 28. Walter Paul Wieland, Medford hotel, re ported that a brief case had been stolen from the counter at Medford Motors, West Sixth and North Ivy sts., about 3:30 p.m. yesterday. She will hold classes in Braille, crafts and homemaking for the visually handicapped. Persons with visual difficulties are urged to contact Mrs. Thompson, since prevention of such difficulties and restoration of the sight is one of the main services per formed by the commission. Blaklev. who died Wednesday, will be for warded tonight to Portland for services and interment in Wil lamette National Cemetery. Conger-Morris funeral home was in charge of local arrangements. The deceased was born on May 25. 1399. in Sewannee Tenn. He had lived in South western Oregon since 1949. He enlisted in the army on May 16, 1918, at JacksonBar raoks, -Louisiana, and was dis charged on Feb. 4, 1919 at Camp Knox, Kentucky, as a Pvt., Sup ply Co., 71st Field Artillery. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Anna Sirls, Nashville, Tenn. GERTRUDE McCLURE Funeral services for Gertrude McClure, Coleman Creek, who died Sunday, will ' be held in Conger-Morris Chapel Thursdav at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Edgar Uark and the Rev. Ernest Volk man, of the First Presbyterian church, Phoenix, officiating. Committal will be at Odd Fel lows cemetery. On Aug. 20, 1913, at Atlantic, la., she married Ralph E. McClure, who survives. She had been a member of the Phoenix Presby terian church since moving to the valley 13 years ago. The deceased was born April 6, 1882, in Jewel county, Kansas. In October of 1900 at Phoenix she married-Charles Benjamin Stevens, who died in 1932. On Feb. 28, 1939 in Salinas, Calif., she married R. Ray Spencer, who survives. She came to south ern Oregon in 1892 from Kan sas.
