TWO MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Sunday, November 27, 1955 Schmeltzer-Tosh Rites Conducted; Bride is Student The marriage of Miss Elaine Schmeltzer and Joe H. Tosh took place in the Medford Church of Christ, Nov. 7. The Rev. Jeff Prosise, Grants Pass Church of Christ, presided for the double ring ceremony. The bride is a student in Crater High school, Central Point, and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Schmeltzer, Central Point. The bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Tosh, reside at 1946 Delta Waters road. The couple took a wedding trip to Fresno, Calif. Mr. Tosh has returned to White Sands prov ing grounds, Arizona, where he is stationed with the Army. The bride remains with her parents until a later date. A dress of white nylon net over brocaded white taffeta was worn by the bride, with her bridesmaid's dresses on the same design in pastel colors. Her mother made the bride's dress. Mrs. Wayne England, sister of the bride, served as maid of hon or, and James Tosh, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The bride's father gave her in marriage. Flower girl Diana Davis was dressed in a miniature bride s gown. Mrs. Margaret Greene and Miss Sharon Mayfield were bridemaids, and Michael Eng land, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer. Following the ceremony, the bride's parents held a reception in the Central Point Church of Christ, with about 150 guests in attendance. State Officers To Visit Lodge; Officers Elected Plans for a visit of the state president and vice-president were made at the Friday meet ing of the auxiliary to Patriarchs Militant, Canton Siskiyou. Mrs. F. A. Dugherty presided. On December 2, Mrs. Elsa j Maxwell, Tillamook, association president, will make an official visit, accompanied by Mrs. Velma Stolsig, Eugene, association vice president. The meeting will be held in the Holland hotel. Officers elected at the last meeting were, president, Mrs. Ed Dameron; vice - president, Mrs. Alta Nichols; secretary, Mrs. Louis Thompson; and treas urer, Mrs. P. M. Aldredge. An annual Christmas dinner and party will be held Decem ber 17. 4 Assistant Rector Will Be Speaker The Rev. Robert Franz Bur ger, assistant rector of St. Mark's Episcopal church will be the guest speaker for Alphs Lambda chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority November 28. The group will meet at 8 p.m., in the YMCA building. Mrs. Chester Jines, assisted by Mrs. Lyman Smith, conducted a candlelight ceremony Novem ber 21 held in the home of Mrs. Robert Shangle, 1240 Woodland avenue. Mrs. George Ice re ceived a pledge pin. The jewel pin was given to Mrs. Thomas Makris, Mrs. Shangle, and Mrs. Russell Torbeck. Country Club Gets Musical Team Soon Mario Lozer and Gogi Grant, musical entertainers, are sched uled for appearances at the Rogue Valley Country Club Nov. 29 through Dec. 4. Lozier's show includes sing ing, dancing, and impressions. Miss Grant is a new singing per sonality, whose most recent re cording, "Suddenly There's A Valley," has risen fast in pop ularity. Two shows will be presented nightly, week days, 8:45 and 11 p.m., Saturday 9:30 and 12 pjn., and Sunday, 6:30 and 9 p.m. Married Florence May Russell and Grant Franklin Wertz were mar ried in a civil ceremony by Justice of the Peace Dale Col lins, Gold Hill, on November 12. P. Stone, Central Point, to Roger Reynolds, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Reynolds, Phoenix. The Rev. Robert J. Tomisser officiated at the double ring cer emony, held at Sacred Heart Catholic church at 2 p.m. White chrysanthemums and fern -pro vided the setting for about 125 guests. Bruno Pellegrini was or ganist. The bride was given in mar riage by her father. She was gowned in white Alencon, French imported lace over satin with chapel train, and her fin gertip-length veil was held with a cap of matching lace and seed pearls. The bouquet was white orchids and lilies of the valley. Mrs. Delmar Angele, sister of the bride from Red Bluff, Calif., was matron of honor. She wore a floor-length gown of coral net over taffeta and carried white chrysanthemums. Her headdress was of matching net and white baby chrysanthemums. Matrons and bridesmaids in cluded Mrs. Robert Beadnell and Mrs. Bernard Logan, the lat ter of Los' Angeles, sisters of the bride; Mrs. Neil Stone, sister-in-law of the bride, and Miss Glen na Knorr. They wore matching gowns of peacock blue net over taffeta and carried white chry santhemums. Their headdresses were of matching net and white baby chrysanthemums. Adele Angele, niece of the bride, was flower girl, wearing white organza trimmed in chan tilly lace over blue satin with matching lace cap. She carried a basket of white petals. Best man was Delmar An gele, Red Bluff, Calif., brother-in-law of the bride. Ray Barn well, brother of the bride; Dick Farrell, Bruce Price, brother of the groom from Springfield, and Don Schultz, brother-in-law of the groom from Tigard, ushered. The dress of the bride's moth er was of blue velvet with pink accessories. Pink carnations composed her corsage. The bridegroom's mother wore a navy blue faille dress with navy accessories and a corsage of pink carnations. Decorated in autumn motif, the Leopard room at Mon Desir was the scene of the reception following the ceremony. Mrs. Donald Long presided at the cof fee table and the wedding cake was cut by Miss Aileen Tamney. She was assisted by Mrs. Dale Smith, San Diego, and Miss Catherine Miller. Miss Donna Zeitler took charge of the guest book, and Miss Rita Cardona served punch. Mrs. , Harriet Brent, grand mother of the bride from Port land, provided music for danc ing. Out-of-town guests included Mrs. Harriet Brent, grandmoth er of the bride; Mrs. T. K. Risk, aunt of the bride, both of Port land; Mrs. G. B. Logan, sister of the bride, Los Angeles; Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Angele and daughter, Red Bluff, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Smith, San Die go; Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Price, Springfield; Mr. and Mrs. Don Schultz and son, Tigard; Mr. and Mrs. Orville Morefield, Eugene, and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Walden and children, Grants Pass. The bride is a graduate of St. Mary's school and has been em- Methodist Women Announce Plans for Annual Bazaar Circles of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the First Methodist church met this past week laying plans for the annual bazaar which will open at 10 a.m., December 6, in Wesley hall. A display of hand painted and hemstitched luncheon cloths in various sizes and colors is being planned by Circle 6 under the leadership of Mrs. James Bau mer and Mrs. Leo Balance. The circle has also been making stuffed toys, Christmas stock ings and children's felt purses. There will be a parcel post sale, "Fibber McGee's Closet," potted plants and dish towels in sets and single lots. Fancy Christ mas pastry, cakes, pies, breads and canned fruits will be fea tured in the bakery booth. The Ruth Esther Wesleyan Service Students to Leave After Visit Here Miss Shirley Lynch, sopho moro in medical technology in the University of Oregon, is home for the Thanksgiving holi days visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John B. Lynch, 139 Kenwood avenue. Miss Lynch, a member of Al pha Xi Delta sorority, brought with her as guests Miss Shelley Ferdun, Honolulu, Hawaii, and Miss Suzanne Sherman, San Luis Obispo, Calif. Miss Ferdun is a sophomore in nursing and be longs to Alpha Xi Delta soror ity. Miss Sherman is a junior ma joring in education, a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. The three girls will return to school today. Christmas Party, Installations Set By Women's Group A Christmas party and instal lation of new officers for the Medford Toastmistress club will be held December 13 at the home of Mrs. Clarence Wilson, 401 Ardmore avenue. At the last session, Mrs. Arn old Bohnert and Mrs. C. A. Cam eron gave extemporaneous talks on "Should a Mother Work Out side the. Home?" Mrs. J. R. Sieler spoke on Thanksgiving and Mrs. James Welch gave her autobiography. Guests of the eve ning were Mrs. Chester Ashton and Mrs. Lloyd Hammond. Miss Anna Streed was Toastmistress of the evening, and Mrs. Clar ence Wilson presided. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. A. C. Cameron. ployed by Dr. E. M. Hanawalt of Central Point. The bride groom attended Phoenix schools and is now employed at Olson Ross Lumber, company. The bride's going-away cos tume was a winter white knit suit with brown accessories. They traveled to the south west, via San Francisco, and make their home in Central Point. guild will display Christmas cards and other novelties. Boxed cookies, nut bread, home-made jellies and jams will be prepared by the Gladamson guild. Circle 10 is preparing a sup ply of knitted bedroom slippers in man sizes and colors; also a display of children's needs. Cir cle 3 plans a novel creation of plate mats and napkins. Scout Officers To Be Installed At Monday Rites Officers of the Girl Scout council will be installed at a meeting November 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Sacred Heart parish hall, 326 South Oakdale avenue. Mrs. Michele Rossi will have charge of the meeting. Following the installation ceremonies, conducted by Mrs. M. N. Hogan, luncheon will be served by the Altar society. The remainder of the program will be taken up by committee re ports and a panel discussion. The Girl Scout crafts work shop which was postponed from Nov. 16 will be held November 30 at the Girls' Community club. Brownie leaders will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon, and inter mediate leaders from 12:30 to 2 p.m. All leaders and assistants are asked to attend. Library Staff Honors Co-worker Members of the Medford pub lic library staff held an informal farewell party November 20 for Miss Maccine Titus. Miss Titus has resigned her position . and plans to live in Tuscon, Ariz. She was presented with a set of I jewelryin Siamese silver. Mother Visits Mrs. Ann Schott, Dearborn, Mich., is visiting her son. and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Schott, 139 White Oaks drive. Mrs. Schott arrived here in mid October and will return to her home in Michigan sometime in December. Garden Club to Learn Gift Wraps ' With Christmas music as a background, the Medford garden club will meet at 2 p.m. Thurs day in the Pythian hall, Fifth and Grape sts. Topics to be dis cussed are gift wrapping and "Holly at Christmas Why?" Members are asked to bring gift wrapped boxes, and a gift will be exchanged. At last week's meeting, h?ld in the home of Miss Marjorie Sandfort, Miss Marjorie Ander son reported on her trip to Eu gene for the Guild President's House Party. Miss Mary Van denberg, assisted by Miss Doro thy Huskey and Mrs. Carl Burk, was in charge of the evening program, "The Five Spiritual Classics." Evening devotions were led by Mrs. Jerry Sherman. 4 Society Changes Date of Concert The first of three winter con certs planned by The Philhar monic Society of Southern Ore gon will be held Sunday, De cember 11, instead of this after noon as originally planned. Richard D. Werner, director of the society, states that post ponement of the concert was nec essitated by the illness of key members of the archestra.
