The Uclans, who smothered the Cougars 55-0 here for the worst WSC defeat since 1922, placed end Rommie Loudd, tackle Gil Moreno, guard Hardi man Cureton and halfback Sam Brown. Others named were end Jim Carmichael, California; tackle, John Witte, Oregon State; guard, Orlando Ferrante, USC; center Wayne Walker, Idaho; quarter back Tom Crabtree, Oregon; halfback Dick James, Oregon, and fullback Credell Green, Washington. Sports Broadcasts Radio stations KYJC and KMED will carry the Marsh-field- G r e s h a m high state championship football game at 7:45 p.m. today. Station KWIN will air the Army-Navy game at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, the USC-Notre Dame game at 1:45 p.m. Saturday and the Rams versus Eagles pro game at 11 a.m. Sunday. KMED will carry the Georgia-Georgia Tech tussle at 11:15 a.m. Saturday. Television station KBES will bring the Army-Navy fra cas at 10:15 a.m. Saturday and the Rams-Eagles pro mix at 11 a.m. Sunday. CRUSADERS PLACE FIVE ON ALL-LEAGUE ELEVEN St. Mary's high, champion for the second consecutive year, led all-star selections for 1955 by placing five men on the All Jackson County B League foot ball aggregation. Talent placed three men, Rogue River two and Jackson ville one on the all-conference club. Gerald Darland, end, and La val Meunier, halfback, both of St. Mary's, were the only unani mous choices. The others picked from the Medford parochial school Crusaders were Ramon Elbert, tackle; Alson Geren, guard, and Jim Jones, fullback. Talent. Bulldogs named were Frank Long, end; Ray Weinhold, tackle, and Terry Hazelton, cen ter. Rogue River placed Gary Phillips, guard, and Bill Weaver, halfback. The Jacksonville selec tion was Clyde Smith quarter back. Lions Spill Packers 24-10 In Holiday Pro Encounfer Detroit U.R) The Detroit Lions, last-place defending champions in the Western Divi sion, occupied the role of spoil ers in the National Football League again today following their 24-10 win over the Green Bay Packers in their annual Thanksgiving Day battle here. It was the second time within three weeks that the Lions eliminated a team from the title race which now is a run to the wire between the Chicago Bears and the Los Angeles Rams. The Lions, who dropped their . first six games, wrecked the CARTER AUTO DIRECTOR .... Indianapolis, Ind. (U.R) Duane Carter of Speedway City, Ind., has been appointed director of racing for the United States Automobile club, a new organiza tion which succeeds the contest board of the American Automo bile Association as the govern ing body of racing on Jan. 1. DUCK HOOPSTER LOST Eugene (U.R) University of Oregon's basketball hopes suf fered a severe setback this week when junior guard Rich Costi broke his wrist in a scrimmage against the freshmen. Dr. George Guldager, team physi cian, said it was doubtful if Costi will be able to play this season. . As in the most recent past sea sons the B league used an "all opponent" method of selection. Each team and each coach of each of the five member schools chose an all-opponent team.' No team or coach named its or his own players. That made a pos sible of eight votes for each posi tion. The vote was tabulated by Fred Richardson, Jacksonville, secretary of the B loop coaches association. Crater High Players Receive Grid Awards Central Point Center Nathan Douthit and Halfbacks Jack Lilly and George Juveland re ceived special Crater high grid iron honors this week. Douthit was picked to receive the Central Point Lions club sportsmanship trophy. Lilly gain ed the Central Point Business men's association trophy as most valuable player and Juveland was named for the Don E. Faber John Wisely downfield blocking award. The awards were announced this week at the annual football banquet held by the Central Point and Gold Hill Lions clubs. Baltimore Colts' title hopes Nov. 5 by defeating them, 24-14. A 21'yard field goal by Fred Cone and a five-yard touchdown pass from Tobin Rote to Gary Knafelc gave Green Bay a short-lived lead. But then came the disastrous second quarter. A Packer fumble set up Detroit's first touchdown on a three-yard pass from Bobby Layne to Lew Car penter. Doak Walker's second field goal attempt was success ful. Carpenter broke through the right side for a 49-yard scoring romp that put Detroit ahead in the final quarter. The Lions clinched it a few minutes later on one of the weirdest plays of the season. Rote, holding for a 50-yard field goal attempt, fumbled the pass from center. He .tried to run, but was met by a swarm of defense-men and tossed the ball to Cone. Cone couldn't hold it either. Sherwin Sonny Gandee .picked it up and ran 48 yards for Detroit's final score. The Lions and Packers' rest Sunday while the Chicago Bears and Cardinals meet in an intra city battle, Baltimore hosts San Francisco, the Cleveland Browns visit the New York Giants, the Rams play at Philadelphia and the Pittsburgh Steelers enter tain the Washington Redskins. Auburn Has ree on UP SE All-Star By BILL FERGUSON United Press Sports Writer Atlanta (U.R) Auburn dom inated the 1955 United Press All - Southeastern Conference football team today by placing three players, but Florida center Steve Delatorre was the out standing individual selection. Auburn won first-team berths with tackle Frank D'Agostino, half back Bob James and full back Joe Childress. Delatorre won the top spot by collecting the most points from southeastern sports writers. Del atorre won 330 of a possible 420 to shade guard Scott Suber of Mississippi State, who got 370 points. LSU Places Two rugged Louisiana Slate linemen, end Joe Tuminello and tackle Earl Leggett, won berths beside D'Agostino, Leggett and Delatorre. The line is rounded out by Franklin Brooks of Geor gia Tech and end Howie Schnel lenberger of Kentucky. In the backfield with James and Childress, Mississippi's aer ial artist, Eagle Day, was se lected at quarterback and triple threat John Majors of Tennessee at halfback. Talent Graders Scored On Only Once in Season Talent Talent grade school football team under the guidance of Co-Coaches Merle Atkinson andj Bruce Friend finished its season with the admirable rec ord of being scored upon only once. The team, with an extremely fast and deceptive backfield, held all opponents scoreless, with the exception of St. Marys. Its wins included two. games with Phoenix and two games with Eagle Point. Cooperation and the ability of the team to work with and for each other led the coaches to believe that next year's team might be equally as successful.
