Swingin' Bee A square dance will be conducted Satur day, Nov. 26 from 8:30 to mid night at 40 North Riverside ave., by the Swingin' Bees Square dance group. The .home of Irving A. Mirick, super visor of instrumental music for Medford schools, was sold to Mr. and Mrs.' Howard Basore. The Basores formerly owned and operated the Basore apartments at West 11th and Newtown sts., but more recently lived at Fourth and Holly sts. The Earl B. Bigalow home, 1701 East Main st., was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Bill F. Walker. The Bigalows have moved to 104 King st., their new home. He stated that because of many pressing events the forum meeting sched uled for Dec. 1 has been can celled and will be held at a later date. Walt Graner announced that the nominating committee would be ready with a report at the next board meeting. Representatives of the South ern Oregon workshop stated that the group would hold meetings after the first of the year simi lar to meetings held last year. Children in India Cheer Soviet Leaders Bombay, India (U.R) Sov iet Premier Nikolai Bulganin and Communist leader Nikita Khrushchev drove " past thous ands of cheering children today on another stage of their tri umphal progress through India. The influential Times of India, in an editorial on Bulganin's at tack on the West in an address to the Indian Parliament, said today the "occasion was not happily chosen for such aggres- sive advocacy of the Soviet point j of view." Bend Area To Be Probed for Uranium Roseburg (U.R) Metals Services Co., a Roseburg mining firm, announced yesterday that it would move uranium mining equipment valued at $75,000 to $100,000 into the Bear Creek drainage 45 miles southeast of Bend. Reports of uranium finds have been made in that region recently. Sage Hollow Mining Co., an ather Roseburg firm, holds min ing leases around Bear Creek and a Metals Services spokes man said there were 15 leases to be mined. Metals Services also holds leases to 24,000 acres in the Lakeview uranium area. Officers of Metals Services in clude A. H. Leeper, president; Keith Carter, secretary, and R. L. Whipple, attorney. Club members and guests were entertained by Miss Joy Russell, Merlin, and Mrs. Hattie Ander son, preceding , a business meet ing at which routine matters were discussed. Dumping Shaving Water Grounds for Divorce London (U.R) Pouring away a husband's hot shaving water in a cold water flat is grounds for divorce in chilly Britain, a court decided Wednesday. William Patrick Bell told the court his wife, irritated by his staying in bed until just in itme to dress for work, used to do just that. Commissioner Blanco Write granted him the decree, com menting that pouring away a man's shaving water was calcu lated to send him off in "a mood of desperation." Ostrekher Abortion Trial Set for Jan. 9 Philadelphia U.R) The abortion trial of Mr. and Mrs. Milton. Schwartz has been set for Monday, Jan. 9. Originally, the trial had been scheduled to start on Dec. 5, but Counsel William Gray asked for more time to prepare a defense of the couple. The Schwartzes are charged with performing the abortion which caused the death of 22-year-old Mrs. Doris Jean Ostreidher, Aug. 24. Judge 'Vincent Carroll said that District Attorney-elect 'Vic tor Blanc has agreed to let the case go over into his term of of fice if Gray allowed District Attorney Samuel Dash to prose cute the case. Blanc said he will name Dash as special assistant in the case. Los Angeles (U.R) For the first time in the history of the Los Angeles city jail, inmates ate a traditional turkey Thanks giving dinner today. Turkey was put on the menu because of ficers discovered it was cheaper than dinners of pork and roast beef served in previous years. November 24. 1955 Coos Bay, Hoiel Named in Tax Claim Coos Bay (U.R) The fed eral government has filed a claim for $10,556.10 for alleged back taxes against the Tioga ho tel here. - The hotel is also involved in an action to force it into receiv ership by a minority stockhold er, Mrs. Jean Howe, Seattle. The federal claim was filed by R. C. Grandquist, director of internal revenue for the Oregon district. The claim said the hotel the government for withholding and employment taxes. The receivership action was brought against Tioga Hotels, Inc., and Lee Scarlett, present manager and majority stockhold er. , Scarlett said the hotel was financially stable and he said the receivership action was "an attempt to get control of the ho tel."
