Grand Officers To Visit Bethel Mrs. Velma Joy Green, Port land, grand guardian for the In ternational Order of Job's Daughters in Oregon, and Roy Colburn, Roseburg, associate grand guardian, will visit Bethel 55 in Medford, Tuesday, Novem ber 22. The meeting will be held at the Pythian hall on North Grape street at 7:30 p.m. Honored Queen Sheila Spence and her corps of officers will in itiate a group of six candidates Parents of the candidates and all persons of proper Masonic affil iation are invited to attend. Refreshments will follow the meeting. Mrs. Everett Faber, Central Point, vice-grand guardian for Oregon, and Mr. Faber will go to Roseburg this afternoon to at tend a. reception which will hon or Mr. Colburn. The event is sponsored by Bethel 8, Rose burg, and Bethel 18, Myrtle Point, Mr. Colburn being a past associate guardian of both bethels. Last Monday Mrs. Faber was in Portland to attend a banquet which honored Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Seher, Milwaukie, Wis. Mrs. Seher is supreme guardian of Job's Daughters, and Mr. Seher is chairman of the supreme jurisprudence committee. Earlier in the month Mrs. Fa ber was in Sacramento for the 31st a'nhual grand guardian council meeting for California. There are 288 bethels in Calif ornia. Rogue River Club To Hold Bazaar Rogue River Members of the Rogue River Garden club plan to make Christmas cheer boxes for shutins in addition to giving a complete dinner for Christmas to a worthy family. Plans for these and a Christmas bazaar were made during a meeting November 15 at the home of Mrs. F. M. Shontz. Mrs. Marie Terpening and Mrs. Willard Tenney were co hostesses. Guests were Mrs. A. A. Dixon, Mrs. Kenneth Laurence, Mrs. Ralph York and Mrs. Russell Munsell. Eighteen members were at the meeting. Mrs. H. D. Weed won a prize and roll call was answered by giving garden tips. Table, mantle and tree deco rations were brought to the meeting for the bazaar which .will be held December 10 at-the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall in Rogue River from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A silver tea will be held in connection. The next meeting will be a Christmas party with exchange of gifts Tuesday, December 20 at the home of Mrs. Carl Christen- sen, Highway 99 South. The 8 o'clock eve ning ceremony was performed by candlelight at the home of the bride's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Plankenhorn, in Valleyview. Eldon Holmes, Central Point, another uncle, read the rites About 35 guests attended. Miss Kay Holmes, Central Point, a cousin of the bride, was maid of honor, and Terry D. Lee, a brother of the bridegroom, came from Tribune, Kan., to serve as best man. The bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Hapes, live at Garden City, Kan., where the bride at tended high school and the bride groom attended Junior college there. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs Tommy L. Lee, Tribune. The bride's gown was of white velvet in street length and her fingertip veil was of net. She car ried a bouquet of white and pink chrysanthemums. Mr. Planken horn gave her in marriage. Miss Holmes wore a light green satin dress, also street length, and her bouquet was of yellow chrysanthemums. She vore matching flowers in her hair. The bouquets and corsages used at the wedding were made bv Mrs. Charles Cushman of Trail, and the rooms of the Plankenhorn home were deco rated with autumn leaves and chrysanthemums. During the reception, also held at the home, the bride's grand mother, Mrs. E. E. Plankenhorn, received the guests, and Mrs. Eldon Holmes cut the wedding cake. Miss Sheila Dione served punch and Mrs. William Moore poured coffee. The couple drove to Auburn, Calif., for their wedding trip They are living in Valleyview. .The bride is a secretary at Bear Creek orchards and the bridegroom is employed at the Talent sawmill. Soprano to Sing Recital Numbers Singing an aria from "Lakme," Miss Nancy Conroy, soprano, and Miss Carol Conway, mezzo- soprano, will appear in duet at a St. Cecillia's day recital at Marylhurst college this evening. Miss Conroy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. T. McKinley, 1102 W. Ninth street, and a sophomore at college. Miss Con way is a senior from Portland. Besides the operatic number, Miss Conroy will sing a group of three songs with the 40-voice college chorus of which she is a member. The group has chosen a motet by Ravanello, the Brahms "Ave Maria," and a Negro exaltation, "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands." Miss Josephine Kirtley, chair man of the international rela tions commtitee, was toastmis tress for the evening. The Zonta blessing led by Mrs. Oletha Ol son and Zonta song by all mem bers opened the celebration. Mrs. Hazel Platz gave the Zonta International history, tell ing of the formation of the first clubs for executive and profes sional women. She said there are now 312 clubs in 13 countries some of which are Chile, Den mark, France, Germany, Nor way, Sweden, Switzerland, Eng land and The Philippines. Mrs. Eleen Meek accompanied by Mrs Lorraine Evensen sang three vocal solos. A large birthday cake decor ated in the club's colors of ma hogany and gold was presented to the group by the president, Mrs. Effie Kurtz. Mrs. George Flanagan, guest speaker, illustrated her talk "To day's Germany" with colored slides which she and her family had taken on her recent trip to Europe. ' Mrs. Flanagan was glad to re port that marked improvement was made during the interval of her first correspondence with the families until she visited them. Her colored slides showed the members of the families as she told a little of their family history. The concluding slides were of several other European countries visited at that time. f Chapter to Hold Jewel Ceremony Monday Eyening A jewel pin ceremony will be held Monday, November 21 at 8 p.m., for members of Alpha Lambda chapter of Epsilon Sig ma Alpha sorority. The event will be at the home of Mrs. Rob ert Shangle, 1240 Woodland ave nue. The next regular meeting will be at the YMCA building, No vember 28. Members will take part today in a television show for Hadleys store. Those who will participate are Mrs. Harold Adams, Mrs. W. H. Fischer, Mrs. Chester Jines, Mrs. Charles Jones, Mrs. Lyman Smith and Miss Frances Thrun. The well-known tragedy will be presented beginning Dec. 2, on the stage of the campus theatre. A freshman majoring in speech, Mr. Williams is a son of Thomas J. Williams, 1317 Queen Anne avenue.
