Family VINCENT Editor 3 cups bite-size pieces turkey 1 No. 2 can bean sprouts or 1 can mixed Chinese vegetables 3 tablespoons soy sauce Toasted almonds, optional Saute green pepper, celery, onions and mushrooms in the but ter for five minutes or until lightly brown. Sprinkle corn starch over all and stir until well blended. Gradually add turkey stock, stirring constantly, bring to a boil. When thickened, add salt, pepper, cut-up turkey, soy sauce and bean sprouts or Chi nese vegetables. Serve with or over hot rice or Chinese noodles. Slivered toasted almonds may be sprinkled on top. Turkey Salad This may not sound unusual, but it is difficult to improve on it for very good eating. Combine two cups bite-size turkey pieces, 1V4 cups chopped celery, four chopped hard-cooked eggs, one fourth cup chopped pimiento, one-half teaspoon salt, one-half teaspoon Worcestershire sauce and one cup mayonnaise in order given. Mix thoroughly. Garnish with greens. Turkey Rice or Noodle Soup Simplicity itself is this turkey soup. Break turkey carcas down to soup pan size. Place in pan, barely cover with water. Add salt, pepper, one bay leaf, one large onion cut in pieces, two tablespoons chopped parsley, and, if you have celery leaves or even tired celery stalks, cut and add them too. Let simmer IV2 to two hours, stirring occasional ly. Add more water if necessary. Strain. Add two cups cooked rice or cooked fine egg noodles for each four cups stock. Re-heat and serve. Lemon Snow with Custard Sauce Tart-flavored, light - textured desserts are frequently just the right "light-ending" to a heavy holiday meal. This lemon-snow is a real "goodie." 1 envelope unflavored gelatin V cup cold water ' 1 cup boiling water 1 cup sugar 13 cup bottled or fresh lemon juice 3 egg whites, beaten stiff Soften gelatin in cold water five minutes. Add boiling water and stir until gelatin is dissolved. Add sugar and lemon juice. Cool until thick enough to hold the mark of a spoon. Beat until frothy. Add stiffly beaten egg whites and continue beating un til mixture holds its shape. Pile into chilled sherbet glasses and serve with this: Custard Sauce 3 egg yolks tablespoons sugar Dash salt 1 cup milk, scalded V teaspoon vanilla In a double boiler or small saucepan, beat egg yolks slightly with a fork. Add sugar and salt. Add milk gradually, stirring constantly. Cook over hot water or very low flame, until stirring constantly, until mixture coats spoon. Chill and add vanilla. Note: If custard curdles from oven-cooking, beat with rotary beater to restore smoothness. Pimiento-stuffed green olives as a garnish give a touch of distinctive elegance when used in ways like these: Top hamburger patties with olive slices. Use olive slices to decorate molded salads and canapes. Arrange olives kabob-style with pickled onions and Swiss cheese cubes for a delicious ad dition to the appetizer tray. Sprinkle small olive wedges over cabbage slaw to add flavor, texture and color. Finely chop olives for an ex cellent hot or cold soup garnish. Princess Mar garet was voted the most news worthy woman of the year. They made their selections in a poll conducted by United Press among its almost 1,700 ra dio news wire clients. President Eisenhower, who has won the poll in three previ ous years, ran Dr. Salk a close second. Konrad Adenauer was third and A d 1 a i Stevenson fourth. Princess Margaret dominated the field in the voting in the women's field. Clare Booth Luce, the U.S. Ambassador to Italy, was second with one-sixth the votes polled by Margaret. Mrs. Eisenhower, who won the poll two years ago, was third. Sizable votes also were polled by Oveta Culp Hobby, former secretary of health, education and welfare; Florence Chad wick, who established a new channel swim record during the year, and Academy Award win ner Grace Kelly. Kenneth Lindbergh, 44-year-old cashier at the Thief River Falls Northern State Bank, dis appeared last Saturday. Police said he took with him $14,000 in blank traveler's checks and $1850 in silver dollars which weighed more than 100 pounds. Police said they believed Lindbergh was kidnaped be cause he had access to the bank vault and would not have taken the bulky load of silver dollars with him by choice. FBI agents said a man who was not Lindbergh deposited S6000 worth of the checks in the Detroit Bank last Monday and later tried to cash a $275 check at a downtown department store. Suspicious bank officials stopped payment on all checks drawn on the account. They said he is married and has four children.
