Singer, Nightclub oWfe in Seclusion Hollywood :U.R Nightclub singer Billy Daniels, 41; and his blonde wife, Parry Cameron, formerly of Montreal, have gone Into seclusion following their marriage in Juarez, Mexico. Miss Cameron, 22 - year - old governess of Daniels' three chil dren by a previous marriage, and the singer made a quick flight Tuesday to El Paso. They went across the border, were quickly married, and returned by plane here. Daniels, a regro stvlist, is probably best noted for his ren dition of "Old Black Magic." New officers for the coming year of both clubs were elected. The Cooking club elected Dian na Gardener, president; Nyla Murray, vice-president; Alice Woolfolk, secretary, and Georgia Hubbard, reporter. For the Sewing club Lucy Gardener was elected president; Joanna Malloroy, vice-president; Karen Jossy, secretary, and Georgia Hubbard, reporter. The Sewing club decided to make baby clothes for needy homes as one project for the coming year. There will be a workshop at the Malloroy home November 19 at 10 a.m. Everyone is to bring a sack lunch. The meeting was adjourned and refreshments were served by Mrs. Malloroy. Daniels died Tuesday night in the dispensary at Tongue Point Naval Base here from injuries suffered in an auto accident on Sunset highway on Tuesday morning. It was the second fatal accident on the S nignway in uiatsop county in nuaM J three days. Warren Will Not Seek Presidency Washington U.R) Chief Justice Earl Warren assured a longtime friend this week that under no circumstances would he leave the U.S. Supreme court to resume political life. The visitor was Dan L. Beebe, editor and publisher of the Oro ville, Calif., Mercury-Register. Mr. Warren emphatically stat ed last spring his intention to remain on the bench. That state ment was made when polls showed him in front among Re publican choices if President Eisenhower were not a second term candidate. Mr. Warren says now that his attitude is unchanged by reason of Mr. Eisenhower's illness and the probability that the Republi cans must seek elsewhere. His decision, he tells friends, is ab solute and final. But Mr. Warren concedes that it may be necessary for him to make another public statement to that effect. Any farmer or rancher may request the federal government to share the cost of conservation practices included in the county ACP on which he needs cost- sharing on his farm. Shippers Discuss Car Shortage With Morse Grants Pass (U.R) Thirteen local lumber and plywood ship pers have talked over with Sen. Wayne Morse their losses due to a boxcar shortage. " Shippers said area mills were receiving only about 20 to 30 per cent of the cars they needed. The senator outlined a three ste;5 attack on the car shortage I problem. First, he said, railroads should be induced to produce more freight cars by a tax mor atorium or perhaps a direct sub sidy. Second, the Oregon Democrat said pressure should be applied on the ICC to build ur its corns I of enforcement officials to rig idly enforce existing regula tions. Third, ICC powers should be strengthened by Congress, he said. Morse said he was working with the Senate Agriculture Committee to eliminate a Com modity Credit Corporation con tract provision calling for all grain shipments to be made by rail. US Health Service Issues Report on Cutter Vaccines Washington (U.R) The U. S. Public Health service has announced in a final report that live polio virus was found in all six suspect lots of Cutter vaccine which caused more than 150 polio cases last spring. Other Lot Unlikely It also revealed some Type two and two and three virus was found in a seventh lot but that this "probably did not cause" any polio cases. In a detailed report issued Aug. 25, the service officially blamed the six lots for the mys terious polio outbreak but said live virus had been isolated in only three lots up to that time. Tests Now Complete The announcement said laboratory tests of the vaccine have now been comDleted. These confirm, the service said, that live virus was present in all six of the suspect ' lots. In every case, the lots had live Type one virus which pro duces the deadliest forms of po lio. One lot also had some Tvrje two virus and two had some Type three. The report said the tests just completed "bring to an end" the official investigation of the .Cut ter incident. MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE THREE Non-Profit Ciub Men at Conclave Three Medf ord nonprofit clubs' were represented at the fourth annual convention of the Oregon Nonprofit Clubs, Inc., held last week end at Portland. From the Elks club were Ernest Scott- manager, a past president and former director of the state group, and R. G. Phair and E. F. Coleman. Repre senting the Rogue Valley Coun try club was George Harring ton, manager of that club, and a director of the state organiza tion. Wives of this group ac companied them on the trip. Officers of the Eagles lodge who were at the meeting were Burdette Sullivan, a trustee, and L. J. Frazier, custodian. The sessions were held at the Portland Elks club and the Mult nomas Athletic club. Represen tatives from the state liquor con trol commission, Oregon legisla ture and Washington Federation of Clubs, were speakers. The group is composed of seven na tional organizations and all non profit clubs of this state.; High light of the convention was a school on club operation. Portland (U.R) Dollar vol ume of building in the Pacific Northwest during October fell 44 per cent below October of 1954 although the total number of permits increased five per cent, the Equitable Savings arid Loan association reported today. Communist Chinese Use Hospitai Boats Taipei, Formosa (U.R) Com munist China has put into ser vice along the Chekiang and Fu kien coastal areas two hospital boats presented by the Soviet Union, the Nationalist China tone News Agency said today. Chinatone said the increase of troops on the island outposts off the South China coast called for medical service from the hospi tal boats. Juan Peron Insists He's Short of Funds Panama (U.R) Juan D. Peron who was accused of stealing mil lions of dollars from Argentina before he was ousted as dictator, insisted Wednesday he was short on funds. Peron moved to a cheaper hotel Tuesday after reportedly spending about $600 during a two-day stay at the luxurious El Panama hotel.
