Time to dig out your favorite recipes for the trio and time to trv out new ones on the family. There are so many really good dishes possible with these plentiful go-togethers that no one should be at a loss for a good recipe that will have everyone clamoring for seconds. You probably have your own special recipe for kraut and pork chops. A wonderful old stand-by we hold in esteem con sists of Kraut and Pork Chops with Candied Apple Kings. We think you might want to try it. We particularly like theCflavor the pork drippings give the sauerkraut. After the pork chops are browned, the kraut is added along with chopped onion and seasonings, and they are conked together until the chops are tender. The apple rings are candied with a simple sirup made with red cinnamon candies and add a bright note to the platter when arranged alternately with the pork chops. e like to complete this dinner with individual salads of canned California white asparagus garnished with green-pepper strips for texture and color interest and served with a simple dressing. Kraut and Pork Chops with Candied Apple Rings (Makes 4 servings) 4 loin pork chops 1 No. 2 can sauerkraut, drained x cup finely chopped onion i teaspoon Bait 3-g teaspoon pepper teaspoon sajje 3t cup red cinnamon candies cup boiling water 2 medium-sized apples, cored and sliced 2 tablespoons sugar Cook chops until lightly browned, about 20 to 30 minutes. Drain, reserving Y cup drippings. Combine drippings, kraut, onion, salt, pepper and sage. Cook, covered with chops over low heat 1 hour or until chops are tender. Meanwhile, dissolve candies in water. Add apples and boil slowly until apples are tender. Remove apples and add sugar to sirup. Boil 3 minutes; pour over apples. Serve with chops and kraut. Journalistic Fraternity Convening in Chicago Chicago (U.R) More than 500 leaders of the newspaper, radio, television and public rela tions professions met Wednesday for the 46th annual convention of Sigma Delta Chi, national journalistic fraternity. Unbearably stub born and so conceited. Always claiming to know everything." That is very unjust. I am not stubborn, just firm. I have never claimed to know every thing. Only nearly everything. Madras Boy Killed In Auto Accident The Dalles U.R) A 17-year-old Madras youth was killed instantly Tuesday when he lost control of his car about IVi miles north of Kent on High way 97. The victim, William Max Wil liams, was hurled from his car after it skidded off the highway and rolled 180 feet. The boy was driving alone from his home in Madras to Wasco.
