In the matter of low prices for used cars, a Milwaukee deal er seems to have broken all rec ords. He recently staged a sale in which he offered a number of used ears for a price of $9-85. Some of these cars were only eight years old. All were guar anteed by the seller to be in good running order. . The Bowery A song that caused the prop erty in a section to depreciate by millions of dollars. That is what the song titled "The Bowery I'll Never Go There Any More,'' is said to have done to the Bowery section of Manhat tan. The song was first presented in Hoyt's celebrated play "A trip to Chinatown." Harry Connor in troduced it. The ditty achieved tremendous popularity. How ever, it caused a drop in rental real estate values on the Bowery from which it has never recov ered. Mules and Men A number of feminine sub scribers express themselves as far from pleased of the appear ance of their husbands in bath ing suits the past summer. "Ev ery time any man appeared on the beach I was downright em barrassed," says one young ma tron. This feeling was evidently shared s by many other wives. Wages are $3.12 an hour. I know of one sheet metal journeyman in California who earns S124.80 a week every week. He hasn't been out of job in 10 years.
