5 SIX MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Arthur L. Simpkins To Sing Sunday at St. Mark's Church Arthur Lee Simpkins, current ly fulfilling an engagement at the Rogue Valley County club, will be guest soloist at St. Mark's Episcoal church at 11 a.m., Sunday. Mr. Simpkins, who includes many religious numbers in his repertoire of classical and op eratic music, has chosen .The Holy City" as his principal number. He will be accompanied by Maury Ellenhorn at the console The service will be conducted by the Rev. George R. V. Bolster, rector, assisted by the Rev. Rob ert F. Burger. Elwood Hedberg, lay reader, will present the pastoral letter from the house of bishops to all congregations of the Episcopal church. The music will be furnished by the Senior choir, under di rection of Ward Smith, with Mrs. E. G. Conrad, organist. 'Fellowship' Theme At Assembly School "A Place to Fellowship" will be the theme of the Sunday school program at the Medford Assembly of God, 1108 West Main st. Sunday at 9:45 a.m., according to the Sunday school superintendent James Nilsen. This program will be in keep ing with the general theme of the denomination's national Sunday school enlargement pro gram for the month of October which is "A Place for You." The church operates a Sunday school bus, which may be ar ranged for by telephoning 2-4292 or 2-5328, ' At the morning service the pastor will speak on the topic, "What is Spirituality?" The adult study at 6 p.m., which is an informal study of the Bible, will be conducted by William McKinley. Practice time - fbr the boys choir has been changed to Fri day at 4 p.m. Boys 6 to 13 years old are invited to attend. Plans are being made for future boys' clftir appearances. The Rev. M. E. LaDieu, Santa Cruz, Calif., a former pastor of Advent Christian church, corner of Jackson and Welch sts., will spet at the local church Sun day at 11 a.m. The Rev. Mr. LaDieu also served as a senior elder. The Rev. G. Ellsworth Walston, is now pastor of the church. He will speak at the evening service. " I 'J William C. Piwr Minister Contest Continues At Friends Church Sunday will mark the second week of a "Mountain Climbing" Sunday school contest at the Friends church. During the open ing assembly at 9:45 a.m. those who brought visitors last week will be eligible to participate in a guessing contest. A prize will be given to the one who guesses correctly. Larry Smith of the adult de partment, and Sandra Malot, in termediate, will receive prizes f6r being high-point winners last Sunday. The Sunday school has 23 classes with qualified teachers for every age group. Visitors are invited to attend. Subject Listed At the 11 a.m. worship hour the choir will sing and the pastor, Clynton Crisman, will speak on "Patience and the Lord's Return." Junior church and a nursery will be conducted. Visitation teams will meet at the church at 2 p.m., to call at homes with an invitation to attend Sunday school. Three Christian Endeaver groups will meet at 6:30 p.m. with a public worship service at 7:30 p.m. Featured will be representatives of the Gideons, who will present their work. The "Quaker Hour" radio program will be broadcast over station KMED at , 9:30 p.m. Wednesday Evening Classes Announced Classes of instruction in the Christian faith for adult inquir ers, which started a few weeks ago at St. Mark's Episcopal church will continue each Sun day at 9:30 a.m. In addition they will be extended next week to Wednesday evenings as well for the convenience of those un able to attend the Sunday morn ing classes. . The subjects to be covered in clude, church history; Holy sacraments; doctrine of the church; Bible; book of common prayer; worship and practice of the church; ' organization of the church; and application of the Christian faith to everyday liv ing. The classes are open to all who care to attend, and ques tions and discussion are en couraged. The Wednesday classes will commence at 8 p.m. and will be held in St. Mark's church annex. Those without - present church affiliations are especially invit ed. The Rev. George R. V. Bolster will conduct the classes. The Rev. and Mrs. Oakley Miller, missionaries to the Brit ish West Indies, will be guest speakers. The Rev. Skaggs, mis sionary to Eygpt, will speak in the early afternoon. The Rev. Nazarene Speaker To Arrive Saturday Dr. George Coulter of Santa Cruz, Calif., to be featured as spaker in an 8 day evangelistic crusade to begin at the Medford Church of ' the Nazarene Sun day, is scheduled to arrive here Saturday evening. He served the Medford con gregation during the years 1945 through 1948. Since 1948 Dr. Coulter has served as district superintendent of the Northern California district. He was elect ed to the general board of the international Church fit the Nazarene in 1952. Paul Skiles, a young layman in the church, will accompany Dr. Coulter to Medford, as the crusade singer. Mr. Skiles is Youth director for Northern California churches, and is a trombonist and song leader. Sunday, Oct. 30 has been des ignated as "Coulter Rally Day" in the Sunday school. Souvenir pictures of the Coulter family will be given members who bring a -visitor for Sunday schooL Gold Hill Youth Plan Car Washing Project Gold Hill Gold Hill Method ist Youth fellowship members willl wash cars Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Associated service sta tion in Gold Hill as a money raising project for mission funds. The youths will be at the sta tion from 9:30 a.m. to 5 -p.m. and. a nominal charge will be made for washing cars. On Sunday, Oct. 30, the fel lowship will meet to view mov ing pictures on India when a speaker also will be at the meet ing. The public is invited to see the picture.
