They Rev. Richard Lee Shafer performed the cere- mony. The bride'i parents are Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bryant, 1312 Reddy avenue, and the bride groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Keene, 142 Glenwood road. Mrs. George Bryant, a sister-in-law of the bride, was the matron of honor, and Chester Keene Jr., was best man for his brother. 1 , Mr. Bryant gave his daughter in marriage. The bride's dress was of shell pink crystalette, ballerina length, and she carried a nosegay of stephanotis cent ered with a white orchid. The matron of honor wore a blue dress and her corsage was of (pink carnations. A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. Mrs. Cecil R. Claflin served the wedding cake and Mrs. Chester Keene Jr., served the punch. Mrs. George Bryant served cof fee. MS. James Singler had O cnarge of tne guest book. For the event the brides mother was attired in a navy Paintings Shown At Brandenburgs Dr. and Mrs. John Branden burg invited a group of friends to their home at 824 Brookdale road Thursday evening to view paintings done by Warren Wolf, Medford High school art instruc tor. The paintings were prepar ed by Mr. Wolf for a one - man exhibit to be held this month at Sieberts galleries at Beaverton. About 20 persons attended the Thursday event. Both had pink ac cessories and both wore pink carnation corsages. The bride was graduated from Medford Senior high school and is employed as a 'dental assistant. Mr. Keene is a graduate of Phoenix High school and is em ployed at Medford corporation. Before the wedding the bride elect was honored at a shower given by Jolly Stichess club, of which her mother is a mem ber. It was held at the home of Mrs. Donald H. S. Miller, 542 North Bartlett street, with 12 attending. The honored guest was presented, miscellaneous gifts for her new home. Annual Campaign For Civic Music Will Open Soon Jackson county chapter of the Civic Music association has com pleted plans for the annual campaign for member ships which will be conducted October 17 through 23, according to Seth Bullis, president. Mrs. Darell Huson, campaign chairman, has appointed division chairmen. Mrs. Otto Frohnmayer is in charge of publicity; Mrs. Harold Cook headquarters, and Ray Lewis, banquet. Mrs. William McAllister, Mrs. Horace Doolen, Mrs. Lyle Schop- pert, Mrs. C. Elwood Hedberg, Mrs. Philip Lowry, Mrs. R. W. Grey, Mrs. Paul Evensen and Mrs. Lewis, all of Medford, have selected workers, and Mrs. Karl Patersen, Ashland, is division chairman for that city. In Virginia Miss Helen Bullis, 15 Florence avenue, is at.Fall's Church, Va., where she is visiting Cmdr. and Mrs. John M. Parsons and fam ily. Mrs. Parsons is her niece. Schulke in rites October 1 at Sacred Heart Catholic church. The Rev. Nich olas Deis read the ceremony at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Mrs. Jack D. Johnson, Long view, Wash., sister of the bride, was the honor attendant and Mr. Johnson was best man. The bride wore a light laven der colored suit and her flowers were yellow baby roses. She car ried a white missal, a gift of the bridegroom. Mrs. Johnson was dressed in a suit of charcoal shade and her corsage was of pink carnations. Music was furnished by Bru no Pellegrini. A wedding dinner was served at Kim's restaurant and the cou ple made a trip to California. California. They are living at 437 North Grape street. The bride," a daughter of Mrs. Anna Todavich of Nebish, Minn., attended Bemidji, Minn., schools. She is a secretary at the Jackson County Federal Savings and Loan offices. The bridegroom, a son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Schulke of Ten Strike, Minn., at tended Blackduck, Minn., schools.. He is employed at Tim ber Products Plywood company. Greek Groups Pledge Students A number of Medford students were among those pledged by sororities and fraternities recent ly at the University of Oregon, Oregon State college and Ari zona State college. Four Medford students and one from Central Points were among those pledged during sor ority rushing at Oregon State college. Miss Florence Stacey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Stacey, was pledged, by Alpha Omicron Pi and Miss Mary Kay White, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold White, was pledged by Delta Delta Delta. Miss Vivian Lanora Kyker, daughter of Mrs. Kenneth Edwards, is a pledge of Sigma Kappa at OSC. Miss Linda Obenchain, Cen tral Point, pledged Delta Zeta sorority. Miss Ta n y a Trowbridge, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Trowbridge, was pledged by Gamma Phi Beta, at Arizona State college, Tempe. Several men students were pledged by University of Oregon fraternities. Jack Gault, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Moad, and Bud Kastner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Kastner, are pledg es of Alpha Tau Omega. Name Chairman For Card Party Mrs. Kenneth Campbell was named chairman of a committee in charge of arrangements for a public card party during a meet ing of the Medford Lady Lions October 4. Mrs. Joseph A. Patella was hostess to the group at her home at , 1925 Stratford way, and Mrs. Alan Jewett, president, pre sided for the business meeting. The United Medford Crusade luncheon Monday, October 10, will be served by the Lady Lions with Mrs. J. A. Tomjack in charge of preparations. Plans are now underway by the organization to carry out their annual Christmas project of obtaining toys and dressing dolls to distribute to less for tunate children, in cooperation with the Medford firemen. Mrs. John T. Holmer, guest speaker for the evening, pre sented the instructions and ar rangements of autumn flowers. Mrs. Patella, Mrs. N. F. Gier and Mrs. Earl L. McQuigg served refreshments. - Medical Auxiliary . Announces Dinner The October meeting of the auxiliary to the Jackson County Medical society will be held at the home of Mrs. W. W. Steven son, 230 Saginaw drive, Wednes day, October 12, at 6:30 p.m. A potluck dinner will be served and cohostesses will be Mrs. Russell Barnes, Mrs. R. L. Cas terline and Mrs. E. W. Sickels. United Nations' association, is planning a local observance of the 10th anniver sary of the UN during the an nual United Nations week, Octo ber 16 to 24. Much of the cele bration will be planned for chil dren of the city, and Mrs. Samp ert is anxious to have a boy or girl who will be 10 on the 25th take part in some of the obser vances. The celebration will include planting of a . UN tree on the grounds of the new Hedrick Jun ior High school, and a special program at Oak Grove school, as well as speakers for adult groups. Tobin was elected chairman of the board of, direc tors of Medford Junior Service league's kindergarten at a meet ing Wednesday evening at the home of Seth M. Bullis. Mr. Bullis is the retiring chairman of the board, but will serve another year as a board member. Dr. O. J. Halboth was named rice-chairman; Dr. June Byers, treasurer and Mrs. John Craw ford, league member, secretary. The group heard progress re ports on the kindergarten, which is devoted to pre-school children who have hearing difficulties, The league will give a Follies November 2 and 3 to raise funds for the school's support. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Jeldness, 815 West Main street, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Angus Lindstrom, 108 Genessee street. of the church in which they were The newlyweds are living in Ashland, and both are attend ing Southern Oregon college. The bride, a graduate of Med ford High school, has also at tended Bible Institute of Los An geles in California, and the bridegroom served with the United States Army after grad uation from high school in this city. For her wedding the bride wore a floor-length gown of bro caded satin fashioned princess style with short sleeves, and a fingertip length veil. She car ried a white orchid with a spray of stephanotis. For the tradi tional something old she wore strand bf pearl beads and she also wore the traditional lucky coins in her shoes. Mr. Jeldness gave his daughter in marriage. Miss Anna Jane Jeldness was maid-of-honor for her sister, and Mrs. Donald F. Lindstrom, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, was matron of honor. Both wore pink ballerina length taffeta dresses, princess style, with pleated yokes and carried pink carnation sprays. Their pink choker beads were gifts of the bride. Donald F. Lindstrom was best man for his brother, and ushers were Ned and Ted Landers and uicK JL.opez. Donald Clark was groomsman. Ned and Ted Land ers also lighted the candles. Arrangements of white chry- santnemums witn pinK carna tions, palms and candles decor ated the church. Glen Lamp was soloist for the ceremony, and Miss Sonja Pet erson was at the church organ, The reception followed in the church parlor. Mrs. Charles Leshensky, aunt of the bride, and Mrs. Levi Lee, a great-aunt, cut the wedding cake. Punch was served by the bride's aunt, Mrs. Orman Tompkins, and Mrs, Mabel Yorke. Miss Darrelyn Ettel and Miss Jeraldine Hender son took charge of the gifts and Miss Darlene Neeley the guest book. Mr. Lindstrom and his bride spent their honeymoon in San Francisco. - Barbara Graves Becomes Bride of Wayne Winans Central Point The marriage of Miss Barbara Graves to Wayne WinansN on October 3 was announced last week by the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Graves, Central Point The ceremony was held in Reno, Nev., and attending the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Davis and Mrs. Bruce Doty, all of Cen tral Pomt, sisters and brother- in-law of the bride. The bride is a 1951 graduate of Central Point High school and was employed by the Davis Transfer company for some time before leaving in May. She now is employed by the Firestone stores at Idaho Falls, Ida. The bridegroom is formerly of New York and is making a career of the Navy. At present he is stationed in Idaho Falls, Ida. Luncheon Marks 78th Birthday Of Mrs. Groves Mrs. Nettie Groves, 608 Adams lane, observed her 78th birthday anniversary recently at a lunch eon which she gave at her home. Guests were Mrs. Ed Pease, Mrs A. H. Gregory, Mrs. F. A, Daugherty and Mrs. Betty Kirk- patrick. The women have met together each year on their respective birthdays for several years. Birthday cakes served for the luncheon dessert were furnished by Mrs. Pease and Mrs. M. E Olson.' Later that day Mn.
