The bride, the formar Estner Ruth Taylor of Medford, is a student at the University of California and the bridegroom is a physicist for the state of California. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rob ert Louis Taylor, 331 Melrose avenue, this city, and her husband is a son of Mr. anoT Mrs. Max H. Carson, Ojai, Calif. The wedding was held in the Fireplace room e t the church, with the Rev. John O. Reynolds J of ficiating Mr. Taylor gave his daughter in :J rrtftrriage. & The Ride's dress was of white embroidered taffeta, street length, worn with a shoulder -length veil and white accessories. She carried a bouquet of white gardenias and stephanotis. Miss Bernadine Thompson, San Jose, Calif., attended the bride. She wore a dress of aqua- marine embroidered taffeta designed identical to the bride's gown, with brief veil and white acces . sories. Her bouquet was of pink rosebuds. Eli Pilgrim, Berkeley, Calif., w.as fbest0man for Mr. Carson and ushers were Robert Nicker son, Berkeley, and William Preston, Medford. Miss Priscilla West played a program of piano music before the wedding, and the bridegroom's sister, Mrs. Margaret Jorgensen, Seattle, sang "Ich Liebe Dich" by Grieg. A reception for about 30 guests was held at the home of the bride's parents. Mrs. A. L Jamecut the wedding cake and Miss Nancy Jennings sjprygi mch. Mrs. George Hicks, Mrs. William Preston and Mrs. George Witter were hostesses for a shower which honored the bride elect. It was held in the Fireplace room of First Presbyterian church. Lady EJ ks Plan Luncheon, Cards Lady Elks plan a dessert luncheon and afternoon of cards Tuesday, October 4 atl:30 p.m., at the Elks club punge. Bridge, pinochle and canasta will be played and wives of all Elks club members are invited. The members are askad to in vite new members or inactive members. Dessert will be served by Mrs. H. J. The Howard School PTA unit, under the leadershipo of Mrs. 1 nomas &aton, president, re quested membership in the Med- iora council at this meeting, stating that their committee chairmen had received much neip irom the workshops con ducted by the city and felt as an organization they could benefit mucn through membership. Dr. Thomas Anderson, optom etrist, reported to the . council the results of the visual eve tests conducted by him for all citv scnoois during the summer round-UD Physical examinations for all children entering the first grade this year. Elliott Becken, assistant city schools superintendent, at the request of the council, gave in formation on the 'health pro gram being conducted in the Medford schools, services ren dered and general objectives. Leonard Mayf ield, ; city schools superintendent, was also present. Committee chairmen appoint ed to represent the city schools on the Medford PTA council are: Parliamentarian adviser, Mrs. William Ardrv. Roosevelt: health and summer round up, Mrs. Milo Kubalek, Junior High and Jefferson; Safety, John Childers, principal of Roosevelt; youth services, John Webber, Lincoln; National PTA maga zine. Mrs. Charles Cox. Wash ington; school board represen tative, Mrs. G. T. Haupert, Roosevelt; publicity, Mrs. Frank Benesh, Roosevelt. Mr. Childers. safety chairman, announced that he would con duct a workshop forlf safetv chairmen of the schools making ud the council Mondav at 8 r m in the annex of Roosevelt school. All safety chairmen and their as sistants are asked to attend this workshop. Plans were made for a salad luncheon to be serve bv the Medford PTA council at the county PTA workshops to be held at the YMCA October 6 from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 D.m Mrs. Charles Bird, hospitality chairman, is in charge of plan ning and arrangements. Convention Dates , Chicago The 60th annual convention of the National Con eress Parents and Teachers will be held in San Francisco, Calif., May 20 through May 23 1956. it has been announced bv Mrs. Rollin Brown, ntional PTA president Mrs. Brown stated that the convention will devote increased time to discussing PTA coopera tion with the various youth- serving agencies and to stand ards of employment that will attract and Hold qualified teachers. TwoCaliformans -To Give Program For Garden Club Mrs. J. P. Weanhunt and Mrs. J. O. Bennett of Chico, Calif., will present the program for al meeting of Medford Garden club to be held Thursday, October 6, at the Pythian building, Fifth and Grape streets, at 2 p.m. The topic will be "Holiday Decorations from Front to Back Door" and demonstration will be given by the two California women. Members are asked to take their own containers and condi tioned flowers. Tea chairman will be Mrs. E. M. Wallin. Registrations will be taken for the flower show judging school to be held at the Grange hall, Central Point, October 25, 26 and 27. The executive board of the club will meet Monday, October 3, at 1:30 p.m. at the home of the president, Mrs. C. C. Stearns. Club Announces Tournament Plans The Riverside Bridge club will hold an open pairs tournament Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon, October 22 and. 23. Mrs. George Dean and John Solheim won first place in the north-south playing position for the September 28 club session. They scored 100 points. Winning second place with 95V& points were Mrs. F. R. Baker and Mrs. Edna Miller; third, Mrs. Dolph Phipps and Mrs. Fred Rehlmg, 88; and fourth, Mrs. H. J. Boyd and Roy Pruitt, 85 The - east-west winners were Mrs. W. W. Stevenson and Mrs. G. E. Mernin, first, with 95 points; Mrs. C. L. Howard and Mrs. M. M: Herman, second, with 90; Gen. and Mrs. J. P. Vachon, 90; and Mrs. Oda Thomason and Mrs. Josephine Clark, 84Vi. 0 Knife-Fork Club To Hear Dr Judd Dr. Walter H. Judd, a former medical missionary in China, and member of Congress from the 5t.h district of . Minnesota, will be the first speaker for members of Rogue Valley Knife and Fork club. The dinner meeting wil be held Monday, October 10 at the Rogue Valley Country club, ac cording to the president, Eric Allen Jr. Reservations should be made in advance with Mrs. O.- A. Eden, 211 Genessee street. Dr. Judd is considered one of the best speakers in the nation and though his subject matter is controversial, it -is only in the hroadest sense oolitical and Dr. Judd does not speak on the level of : party politics, advance re leases state. He is co-author of the Hays Judd resolution introduced in Congress to keep politics out of the peace settlement. Dr. Judd was a practicing sur geon and physician in South China from 1925 to 1931 and he was superintendent of hospitals in North China for the board of commissioners for foreign mis sions from 1934 until 1938. In the years that he lived in China he served the needs of under privileged people and came to know them as few foreigners ever do, it is explained. PTA Scholarships Topic of Speaker Iris To Be Topic Of Garden Club Central Point A dessert luncheon will be served at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 5, at the home of Mrs. Henry Conger for members of the Central Point Garden club. Mrs. Everett Young and Mrs. Edward Jones will as sist the hostess. Mrs. Kenneth Farley will be the guest speaker. Her topic will concern iris. Auxiliary Plans Halloween Party In Eagle Point Eagle Point Plans for a Hal loween party October 29 at the Eagle Point Youth center were mde by the auxiliary to Eagle Point Lions, club when they met Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Don Geren. The party is to be attended by both the auxil iary and club members. The next meeting of the auxil iary wUl be a potluck dinner at 7:30 p.m., October 10 at the home of Mrs. W. W. Jackson. Plans also were announced during the recent meeting for a rummage sale .to benefit the Teenage club and members are asked to take clothing, dishes and other items for the sale to the John Winton home. Mrs. Vern Bonebrake was the presiding officer and 10 memhors attended. Mrs. Lyle Greenwood became a new member. Refresh ments wereserved by the host ess and the evening was spent sewing chair back covers for cnairs at the Youth center. This program is a major accom plishment of the Oregon council and local units. Mrs. Mary Corcoran, public health nurse, explained the child development program and com munity groups can be formed for any age group where films will be shown and discussions held. The meeting was conducted by Mrs. Thomas Eaton, presi dent. The second grade room won a prize as the result of more parents of children in that roojg being at the meeting. Mrs. Alex Chisum, program planning chairman, introduced the two speakers, for the eve ning. Refreshments were served by the executive committee. A series of "buzz" sessions are planned instead of regular meetings.
