Miss Marilyn von der Hellen fecame the bride of Richard Lee Wooton in a ceremony Thursday evening, September 29, at St. Mark's Episcopal church. The Rev. Robert Franz Burger read the double-ring rites at 6 o'clock in the evening. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. H. W. Irwin, 925 Newton street, and the late Hugo von der Hel len. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Wooton, 1314 South Peach street. A wedding dinner was served after the ceremony at Rogue Valley Country club with the bride's mother and stepfather as hosts. The couple left immedi ately for the coat for their wed ding trip. They will live for the present in Medford Miss Barbara Niesen was the honor attendant and Derald Wooton was best man for his brother. Mir Irwin gave his stepdaugh ter in marriage. Her ballerina length white lace dress was de signed with low waistline and a full skirt. Her corsage was an orchid. MiA Niesen wore a beige colored dress with brown acces sories', and she also had an orchid corsage. The bride is a freshman stu dent at Southern Oregon college and is a 1955 Medford Senior high school graduate. The bride groom also is a Medford gradu ate and attended Modesto Junior college. w 1 Two Delegates To Leave Soon For Conventibti Mrs. Earl Bigalow will leave here October 3 en route to Miami, Fla., to attend the national con vention of the auxiliary to the American Legion. She is chair man of the Americanism project for the auxiliary department. From here, she will go to Portland to join other auxiliary department officers who will make the trip by special train to the convention. o Eugene Orr plans to leave here by plane Wednesday evening for Miami to attend the American Legion as both a state and a national delegate. He is a mem ber of the national rehabilitation committee and will attend meet ings October 7 through 9 con cerning the work of that group, previous to the openings of the' convention on October 10.' He will be accompanied by Neil Allen, Grants Pass, also a state delegate, and chairman of the civilian defense committee. Club Members Guest of Group In Klamath Falls ' Fourteen members of the Med , ford Sojoifehers club traveled Wednesday to Klamath Falls to meet with club members in that city. Luncheon was served at the Willard hotel. Those who made the trip were Mrs. James Winslow, Mrs. Jack Mitchell, Mrs. Paul Harper, Mrs. George Lovenborg, Mrs. Marvin Nelson, Mrs. H. A. McCullough, (jMrs. B. F. Coleman, Mrs. John Laden, M. Clifford Griffitts, Mrs. Owen Ludwick, Mrs. Rob ert Hart, Mrs. Carl Christenson, Mrs. William Riley, Mrs. Mere dith Parsons and Mrs. John Mani&ield. ' Mrs. E. T. DeVecchio, who moved from Medford to Klam ath Falls, heldgk coffee hour for the Medford members before the meeting: She now is a member of the Klamath group. Cards were played an Med ford women ' who won prizes were Mrs. Parsons, Mrs. Mitghf ell, bridge; Mrs. Harper anf Mrs. Hart, pinochle, and Mrs. Griffitts and Mrs. Ludwick. The next meeting of the Med' "lord club will be October 13 at the' Medford hotel. 2635 Chapter Member In Indianapolis For Convention Mrs. E. L. Bartholomew, Hillcrest road, left last Friday for Indianapolis, Ind., where she will be a delegate from Chapter CG, PEO to the supreme conven tion of the sisterhood being held October 3 to 6 in thatdiity. She plans to return about October 8. Chapter CG, PEO, will meet at the home of Mrs. Wayne Welty 237 Girard drive for a seven o'clock supper Wednesday, October 5. Mrs. Gertrude Chapter BE, PEO, will meet Tuesday, October 4, at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Jack Harris, Griffin Creek road. The assistant hostess will be Bogart The program will be a study of the constitution by Mrs. L. K. Doty and a report on the United Nations by Mrs. Louis Brown. Ma Breakfast Mr. and Mrs. Sam Steele enter tained the Rogue Rangers at a breakfast last Sunday morning on Roxy Ann. Another recent ac tivity of the group was a skating party at Ashland. I' Vs. (American President Lines photo) Luncheon Planned For Past Queen; Visits Announced Past queens of Zuleima tem ple, Daughters of the Nile, will be honored at a no-host luncheon Saturday, Oct. 8, at 12:30 o'clock in Medford Masonic temple. Zuleima patrol is in charge of arrangements for the lunch. Mrs. Raymond Reter, queen, will preside at the business session scheduled for 2 p.m. Mrs. Reter has announced that during the month of October she will visit the following Nile clubs: Coos Bay-North Bend, Oct. 4; Coquille Valley, Oct. 5; Woodland, Oct. 7; East Lane, Springfield, Oct. 10, and Lake- view, Oct. 19. All of the club visits "are for 6:30 o'clock dinner meetings, to be followed by busi ness sessions. -Members are asked to notify Nile club presi dents three days prior to the meetings if they plan to attend. Thirty-nine candidates be came members of the order dur ing a ceremonial conducted at Roseburg Saturday, Sept. 24. For her first ceremonial since becom ing, queen, Mrs. Reter was assisted by two officers . from Medford, Mrs. E. Ronald Rice, princess Badoura, and Mrs. Eva Cook, princess recorder. Mrs. Clay M. Lee served as a hostess and Mrs. Marina Gates gave the candidates a history of the order. Mr. Reter and Mr. Lee accom panied their wives to the ban quet on Saturday evening. Yocoms Honored At Housewarmiilg Sunday Afternoon Mr. and Mrs. P. R. Yocom, 1146 Spring st., were honored with a housewarming party Sunday afternoon by relatives and friends. The party was planned by Mrs. R. M. Yocom and Mrs. W. M. Daws, who furnished a cake decorated for the occasion. Mrs. Davis Young and Mrs. James Pixler furnished the bev erage and assisted -Mrs. Yocom and Mrs. Daws in0 serving re freshments. Guests, in addition to the hon ored couple, included Mr. and Mrs. Lee Hedgepath, C. E. Davis, Mrs. Annie Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Neff, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Unger, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Brooks, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hite and son, Ralph, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Beers, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. To Mexico Among those going on late vacation trips are Miss June Anderson of he Oregon State police headquarters, and Miss Virginia Larson, United States National bank teller. They left by plane Saturday $ening for Mexico. 'The young women plan to spend a week first at Aca pulco and a week at Mexico City. Stults, announced last week that the group will sponsor the appearance Sunday after noon, October 23, of the world famous Gen. Platoff Don Cossack chorus and dancers. The chorus is well knowp here, having appeared several seasons ago on the Jackson County Civic Music concert series. The program is being spon sored to raise funds for' the Ashland Lions club's' projects. In announcing the event, the president related, "There are two major reasons for bringing this program to the Rogue valley. First, we believe that there are many patrons in southern Ore gon and northern California who enjoy the finer kinds of enter tainment have too few oppor tunities to see such events; and second, the Ashland Lions club, a group of community-spirited business and professional men. are dedicated to a service that fosters youth activities, a sight- conservation program, scholar ships to Southern Oregon col lege, and other projects. In order to continue the kind of service that has brought our group recognition, we need funds." Taylors Return From Motor Trip Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Taylor and children, Dana and Lanny, 515 West 11th street, arrived home the end of the week from a three- week motor trip. They visited their two married daughters who live in Iowa and in Illinois they visited relatives of Mrs. Taylor. The family traveled by the northern route going east and re turned through Salt Lake City, utan and Keno, Nev. . - Deanery Dinner Set in Ashland The Southern deanery, Ore gon Episcopal churches, will meet Thursday, October 6 in the guilcPhall of the Ashland Trin ity Episcopal church. A dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m., and all members of St. Mark's Epis copal church are invited. Marlene Long Becomes Bride Of Albert Puddy The wedding September 11 of Miss Marlene Long to Albert C. Puddy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vilas A. Puddy, 3612 South Pacific highway, was announced last week by the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Long, 702 West Fourth street. The bridegroom is a corporal in tne Marine corps ana me couple is living at 590 . North Strand street, Oceanside, Calif. He is stationed at Camp Pendle ton, Calif., and is serving his second tour of duty. The wedding was held at Stevenson, Wash., and attending the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Flanigan of Portland, brother-in-law and sister of the bridegroom. Also at the wedding was Miss Linda Prince of Med ford, a niece of the bridegroom, who accompanied them north. The bride wore a dark tweed suit and Mrs. Flanigan was dressed in a grey dressmaker suit. Before leaving for Oceanside, the couple visited their parents here. ' f Eugene Woman Guest of Group;G Monday Evening CMrs. Carroll Roberts was a special guest at a social meeting of the Scottish Rite Women's club September 26 in the Masonic temple. Mrs. Robert's husband, Dr. Carroll Roberts, was speaker for a meeting of 32nd degree Masons that evening. Dr. Roberts holds the 32nd and KCCH degrees in the Mason ic lodge, is a past grand chaplain of the grand lodge ' of Oregon and' is pastor of First Christian church, Eugene. Cards were enjoyed during the evening with prizes going cto Mrs. H. C. Goldsmith. Mrs. Blanche Thaanum was welcomed as a prospective member. At. the close of the social hour the wom en joined the Scottish Rite Ma sons in the dining room for re freshments. Mrs. Ralph Lue was chairman for the event, assisted by Mrs. Edward Root, Mrs. Fred Purdin, Mrs. Harry Nordwick and Mrs. Hazel Dickson. The next meeting will be a business meeting Octo ber 10. Council to Hold Birthday Dinner October is birthday month for the local council of Christian Business and Professional Women, and at the Oct. 3 meeting at the Hotel Jackson at 6 p.m. the group will observe its fifth anniversary. Special speaker for the occasion will be a national worker of the organization, Miss Betty Thurman. Delmer Smith of the Crater Museum will present the special feature of the evening with a display from0his rock collection. Miss Carol Gossard will preside at the meeting. Women to Hear Review of Book College Women's Club of the Rogue River valley will hear a review of Eric Barnes' book, "A Lady of Fashion," given by Mrs Ray K.
