Her wed' ding to Mr. Guldhal, ion of Strommen, Norway, took place August 20 at St. Mark's Episcopal church. The newlywed couple . posed for the picture below shrtly before leaving the Houghton home for St. Louis, Mo., where they will live. (Landis-Shangle photos) Episcopal Service Weds Pair Miss Harriet Houghton, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Houghton, 512 Dakota avenue, was married to Alf Guldahl of Strommen, Norway, in a cere- mony held at St. Mark s epis copal church Saturday, August 20. The Rev. George R. V. Bols ter officiated. The bridefroom is a son of ' Mr. and Mrs. Magnus Guldahl, . Strommen. The bride was attended by 3 her two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Mc Dade, Corvallis, Ore., and Miss q Marcia Houghton. . Her young brother, David, acted as ring bearer. Mr. McDade served as best man for Mr. Guldahl, and ushers were Christopher Williams and Richard Padgham. " Mrs. McDade and Miss Hough ton wore frocks of green taffeta with lace jackets and their flow ers were yellow carnations and white gladiolus. Following the ceremony a re ception was held at the home of the bride's parents. . Mr. and Mrs. Guldahl will be at home after September 1 at 5101 Raymond avenue, St. Louis, Mo.. Meeting Announced For Roxy Ann Club Roxy Ann Home Economics club women plan to meet Wed nesday, August 31, at 8 p.m., in the Grange hall. Patricia Merriman Wed To Roland Jeari Higgins Sacred Heart Catholic church was the scene Saturday, August 20 of the wedding of Miss Patri cia Jean Merriman to . Roland Jean Higgins. The double ring ceremony and nuptial mass were celebrated at 10 a.m. by Father William McLeod and was at tended by 300 guests. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Myrle M. Merri man, 304 King street and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas F. Higgins, 60 North Peach street. The bride was escorted to the altar by her father. Her gown was of Chant illy lace . and pleated nylon tulle over slipper satin. The bodice was fashioned with peter pan collar and long sleeves, and the overskirt of Chantilly lace was designed with a bustle of pleated nylon tulle ending m a cathedral length train. Her finger tip veil of nylon tulle was held by a crown of lace trimmed with pearls. The veil had first been worn by Mrs. Wil liam Driscoll Jr., at her wedding. The bride carried a cascade bouquet of white orchids and stephanotis. Mrs. William Driscoll Jr., was honor attendant and Miss Mar tha Merriman, sister of the bride was junior bridesmaid. Miss Beverly LaComb was bridesmaid" and Mrs. Thomas Merriman, sister-in-law of the bride, Mrs. Ive McKinney and Mrs. Howard Borough, Seattle, Wash., were bridesmatrons. Mrs. Driscoll wore a ballerina gown of pink nylon lace and tulle over taffeta fashioned with tiered skirt of tulle forming a bustle with overskirt of lace. and her shoes were pink. She wore a flower bandeau of deep pink rose buds and carnations in her hair and carried a cascade bouquet of the same flowers. . The other, attendants wore gowns of deep aquamarine nylon lace and tulle fashioned to match the gown worn by the matron of honor, and aquamarine shoes. Visitors Attend Festival Plays; Leave Thursday Mrs. Herbert Talbott. Hono lulu, Hawaii, left Thursday for San Francisco after having been a guest in the valley of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jordan, Talent. Mrs. Talbott and Mrs. Jordan are sisters-in-law. Mrs. Talbott was accomDanied by two friends, Miss Mary John, Pendleton, and Mrs. SDrinser. Portland. The three attended per formances of the Oregon Shakes pearean festival in Ashland, and expressed praise for the produc tions. Miss John was en route to Hon olulu for a convention of the Episcopal church as a representa tive of tne diocese of eastern Oregon. f Bullocks Leave For California Col. and Mrs. E. F. Bullock, 303 Willamette street, left Thursday for Scio, Ore., where they will visit their' son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. John Bullock, who recently moved there from Medford. Col onel afcd Mrs. Bullock will leave after their visit in Scio for Santa Barbara Calif., where they ex pect to live. They, sold their home to Mr. and Mrs. John Holmes who came here from Eugene. Mr. Holmes is to be an instructor and assist ant principal of the new Roose velt school annex. Relatives Visit In Medford Home Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Twamley and nephew, Curtis Williams, White Lake, S. D., have left after visiting at the home of Mrs. Twamley's sister, Mrs. Fred Fick, 502 North, Holly street. They were here for the past three weeks and arrived by way of Portland where Mrs. . Fick met them. They left by way of Klamath Falls to Reno, Nev., and will visit also in Idaho and tour Yel lowstone national park. While here they visited Crater Lake. ' John Walker was best man for the bridegroom and ushers were Thomas Merriman, brother of the bride, Ive McKinney, James Clark and William Driscoll Jr. Bouqets of white gladiolus and lighted, tapers decorated the church.and the pews were marked with white satin bows. Bruno Pellegrini was at the organ. i Following the wedding cere mony a reception was held at the Medford . Hotel which was at tended by 150 guests. Arrange ments of white gladiolus decor ated the reception rooms and the bride's table was arranged with pink carnation and white tapers flanking the pink, white and silver wedding cake. The white linen cloth used on the bride's table had been a wed ding gift to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lewis and had been used at their wedding reception 45 years ago and was loaned for the occasion. Miss Jacqueline Walker served the wedding cake assisted by Mrs. Wes E. Offenbacher of Klamath Falls, Ore. Miss Patri cia Vail poured the coffee. All are sorority sisters of the bride. Mrs. Fred Stammen and Mrs. James Gregory served the punch, Mrs. Paul Parson and Mrs. Ray mond Marion took charge of the gifts and Miss June Bostock was in charge of the guest book. For the event the bride's mother wore a gown of gun metal grey nylon net over taf feta. Her accessories were , pale pink and grey and she wore a corsage of baby pink rose buds. The bridegroom's mother was attired in a lace gown of grey over mauve taffeta and she wore mauve and grey accessories and a corsage of lavender carnations and stephanotis. Mr. Higgins and his bride are making a wedding trip to Banff National park, Lake 'Louise and Victoria, British Columbia, Ca nada. Both the .bride and bridegroom have lived' in Medford all their lives. The bride attended St. Mary's school and is employed by Doctor's clinic as an x-ray technician. She is a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. The bridegroom attenaed Medford High school and is now attending Southern Oregon col lege. He is employed by the Southern Pacific Railroad com pany. Out of town guests at the wed ding were Mrs. Margaret Col lins, grandmother of the bride groom, Mrs. Mable Hendricks and Mrs. J. C. Price, aunts of the bridegroom, H. L. Collins and E. H. Collins, uncles of the bride groom, all from Oakley, Ida.; Mrs. Nellie Merriman, Grand mother of the bride from Napa, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Sheridan and daughter Colleen, Portland; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Borough and son David, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. H. E. Rmabarger and Mrs. Don Porterfield, Tule lake, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Francis G. Prescott, Grants Pass. The bride's parents were hosts for the ' rehearsal party which was held at their home on Fri day, August 19 and attended by the wedding party and other friends. . The newlyweds will be at home at Ideal court, Medford after September 1. Lawn Party Held In Shady Cove Shady Cove A lawn party and dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Travis Littlefield, Shady Cove, was attended by members of the , Shady Cove Grange. . , Cards and group singing were diversions of the evening after dinner. Lewis L. Simpson of the South ern Oregon Conservation and Tree Farm association will con duct them on a tour of the Elk Lumber Mill north of Medford, and then to the Medford corpo ration tree farm and lumbering operations. Anyone desiring to make this tour is asked to contact Mrs. A. C. Lewis, telephone 3-2822. Those attending are to take a sack lunch, including their own coffee. Council Honors Advisor; ouples to Leave Mrs. John Fugill was honored at a farewell party given Thurs day night by Rosebud council, Pythian Sunshine Girls. Mrs. Fugill, who has been serving as royal advisor, will leave this week to make her home in Chico, Calif. . Mrs. LeRoy Cline will now serve as advisor for the council, and Mrs. Ben Blachly will re place Mrs. Cline as counselor. Mr. and Mrs. Fugill, their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tharp, expect to leave Medford about September 1. Mrs. Kelley is the former Margaret Agnes Barnett. She is a daughter of Mrs. Glenn Sum mers, Portland, and in . Med ford lived at 470 DeBarr av enue. ; The ceremony was perform ed by the Rev. Brewster Adams, Baptist minister, the date also being Mr. Kelley's birthday an niversary. The - double-ring ser vice was read at 9 o'clock at night by candlelight. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald McDan iel attended the couple and Wynn Milani was a guest for the ceremony. The bride wore a suit of mauve colored faille with small hat covered in irridescent se quins, and brown accessories. Her corsage was a white orch id. Mrs. McDaniel wore a white print silk suit and purple orch id corsage. The ceremony was followed by a wedding supper at the Nug get - cafe, in Sparks, Nev. The newlyweds 1 spent their honey moon at Lake Tahoe, Virginia City and Gold Hill, Nev.. and also visited Comstock Mines and Alturas, Calif.- Mr. and Mrs: Kelley will live at Alpine lodge, Canyonville. Mrs. Kelley has been employed at the Red Streak cafe,Medford, and Mr. Kelley is a logger. - FOE Auxiliary Holds' : Initiation for Two Miss Charlene Hayworth and Miss Jane' Starboard , were in itiated into Ladies' auxiliary of the Fraternal Order, of Eagles Thursday evening. Lue, 341 O'Gara street, August - 23, at seven o'clock in the evening for Debra Lee and Deanna Lynn Lue, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Lue. The Rev. Harry W. Hansen, Carmel, Calif., who performed the Lue's wedding ceremony, of ficiated for the christening rites. Godparents are Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth E. Hood, 505 Benson street, Medford. Present for the christening ceremony were the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clay M. Lee, Cargill court, and the paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lue, Howard street. Mrs. Hansen was also a guest. The Rev. Mr. Hansen and his wife were en route to Nebraska . where he will become pastor of a church near Omaha. He was formerly pastor of First Presby terian cjiurch here. r On Trip ' Mrs. Ruth Ragsdale, district cffice secretary for Montgomery Ward and company, left Satur day on a combined business and pleasure trip. At Redding, Calif., she will attend a formal opening of the annex toa com pany store. From there she will go to Yuba City to visit friends and they will continue to San Francisco for several days.
