The event was o gation and serving as hostesses were Mrs. Floyd' Lefler, Mrs. Marvin Wright, Mrs. Jesse Stout. Miss Dorothy Lawton and (Kiss Ruth Powell. Gifts for the couple were placed on a table centerd with a (Winiature bride and bride groom. Appropriate games were O played and a book with stores (and cartoons of Mr. Clank's life was made and presented to the bride-to-be. Refreshments were served to 5? guests. Miss Poet and her mother, Mrs. John R. Poet, were house guests for a time of Mr. Clark's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John F. Clark, Central Point. They have returned to Portland and the wedding is set for August 27 in that city. Church Women Plan Meeting on Thursday Women of St. Peter's Lutheran church will meet at the church S Thursday, August 18, at 9 a.m. (to pack clothing for the needy q and to clean the church kitchen. O Luncheon will be served by Mrs. Roland Holmes. A short business meeting will be conducted at 1 p.m. o Dinner Meeting Held by Groups In Butte Falls Butte Falls Butte Falls Lions' club and auxiliary held a potluck dinner at the high school for the July meeting. There were about 25 members and wives in attendance. Mrs. Bruce Pingle, auxiliary president, called the meeting to order. Mrs. Glen Cathy and Mrs. F. E. Poole reported on the state convention. The next joint meeting will be August 24, and hostesses for the meeting are to be Mrs. Pingle and Mrs. Albert Hartlerode. This meeting is to be a picnic in the park. Everyone is to take chicken for their own group, and cards will be sent to mem bers with instructions for the rest of the meal. Medford Student Home From School Miss Robene Starcher return ed to Medford Sunday after at tending summer session at Wash ington State college, Pullman. Miss Starcher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bren H. Starcher, 1570 Stage Road south, will return to WSC the first of September to enroll for the last semester of her senior year. She is a mem ber of Kappa Delta sorority. Mr. Starcher motored to Pull man last week, and the two re turned home together after visit ing in Lewiston, Ida., with Mr. Starcher's brother-in-law and sis ter, Mr. and Mrs. James Rifen-berick. Travelers To Arrive In Sweden O. H. Bengtson and his mother, Mrs. Anna G. Bengtson, were scheduled to arrive August 10 at Boteborg, Sweden. They left July 23 from Medford by plane and made the trip across the Atlantic on the Swedish American liner, the MS Kungsholm. They em barked from New York City August 2. En route across America they stopped at Denver, St. Louis, and Chicago. In a letter to The Mail Trib une dated August 4, Mr. Bengt son explained that the ship car ries 800 passengers with a crew of 355 and remarked on the fine service given them. "We started eating as we left port, right after waving good bye to the Statue of Liberty, and we eat as follows: breakfast at 8 a.m., coffee and rolls at 10:30 a.m., with string orchestra fur nishing entertainment; luncheon is at noon; coffee, rusks and cakes, 3:30 p.m.; dinner at 6 p.m., after a large smorgasbord, and snacks are served from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. Fruit at all times between meals. Yesterday the captain entertained. "We have met many charm ing and interesting people includ ing a street sweeper from Brook lyn and engineers, architects, sci entists, businessmen and others. "My Swedish which I have not used since 1948 is coming back surprisingly fast and it is great fun to use it even though halt ingly at times. Plans Complete For Tea Tuesday Plans have been completed for the annual summer tea of Wom en's association, First Presbyter ian church. It will be held tomor row at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert B. State Policeman And Family Here Mrs. Rex Note, 32 Hamilton street, returned home Sunday from Crescent City, Calif., where she was a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Beck at their beach home for a few days. Re turning to Medford with Mrs Note were her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Note, Salem, and small daugh ter, Mary Melinda. Mrs. Note and daughter flew to Crescent City last week, and were joined by Mr. Note, member of the Oregon state police department, over the weekend. The Salem family will return home tomorrow. Mrs. Note is the former D'Ann Beck, daugh ter of the Michael Becks. VEGETABLE BROIL New York (U.P.)
