t G o O o o Stevenson To Reveal Presidential Plans I n Next Four Months Chicago (U.R) Adlai E. Stevenson will announce within the next four months whether he will run again (for President. If he makes the race he thinks he can beat President Eisenhow er. Stevenson made the promise and prediction last night after a dinner held in conjunction with the 47th annual Governors' con ference here. It was the 1952 Democratic presidential candidate's most straight forward statement to date on his political plans and on the chances of defeating Mr. Eisenhower. Talk of Stevenson's future has O dominated the governors' con tention, even though his only connection with it is that he hap pens to live in a Chicago sub urb. November Deadline Stevenson brought the conjec tures to a boil last night with a flat statement to about 100 news men when he said "I'll tell you what I am going to do, and why, sometime before the end of No vember, possibly before." He scoffed at any suggestions that "I'm afraid to run against Vp " , yl te- o - But Stevenson still refused to say whether he has made up his mind about making a second bid the White House. The former Illinois governor set the deadline for announcing his political status after two days of huddling with Democratic gov ernors attending the conference. Earlier, Michigan's Gov. G. Mennen Williams caused a mild furor at the conference with a Boy, 8, Blamed In Shooting of Man Bend (U.R) State police reported today that an eight-year-old boy from the Warm Springs Indian reservation is believed responsible for the shooting of Jason Mosher, 35, South Junction railroad work er. Mosher was shot in the head while fishing on the Deschutes river near Warm Springs. He is recovering at the Redmond hos pital. Police said they were not cer tain what, if any action would be taken against the boy as the j shooting apparently was acci-l dental. 1 Don't 5k I act nxv Tc O WE'RE LOOKING FOR THE OLDEST RANGE IN USE! Langlie of Washington erupted with charges of "slander" and Maryland's GOP Gov. Theordore R. McKeldin said the President's spirit is young. Highway Problems Williams, who has also been mentioned as a possible Demo cratic presidential candidate, made haste later in the day to emphasize "at no time did I indicate any hope or expectation that the President was going to die or was even in poor health." At the conference itself, the governors concentrated on road problems and Congress' refusal to pass Mr. Eisenhower's multi billion dollar highway program. Many governors were flatly in favor of a special session of congress to deal with the pro gram. They said the federal gov ernment should either start buil ding roads or quit collecting gas oline taxes. Oregon Body Said Nol That of Widow Portland (U.R) Portland de tectives today said they had been informed by Oklahoma authorities that, an unidentified body found here could not be that of a wealthy Oklahoma widow, missing since March, 1953. Detective Captain William D. Brown said a check of dental x-rays showed the body was not that of Mrs. Lydia Marland, widow of former Oklahoma gov ernor E. W. Marland. At the time of her disappear ance, Mrs. Marland was believed to be visiting relatives in Ore gon. Hopes for' a clue to the mystery were revived this week when it was determined that a body found in the Willamette river in July, 1953, matched her general description. Only identifying marks on the body were a partial upper plate and a Bulova wristwatch. De scriptions of both were fur nished Oklahoma authorities for analysis. EMBARRASS EMBARRASSED Embarrass, Wis.
