An estimated $20,000 worth of equipment, stored in the round- j house, was lost in the blaze. The equipment was owned by Jack Robinson, a Bend contractor. THE HEALING OF VARICOSE ULCER One who has swollen, en larged, prominent, dilated vari cose leg veins or any tendency thereto, as may be indicated by fatigue and leg ache, just dull ache, not painful cramps, with swelling of feet and ankles late in the day, had better take steps to present the occurrence of varicose ulcer. Take steps literally, that is. But before we quarrel about that, let me suggest a prophy lactic which is beneficial for al most anybody who has begun to drag his or her legs: Every hour in the day lie on your back and ride an imaginary bicycle upside down for a min ute or less. If that's beyond your capacity, then just lie on your back with your legs elevated and resting on or against some thing, for a minute or less every hour. Well, then, if even that's beneath your false dignity, just lie on your back and do three or four inflations, while your feet rest on a level higher than your head. Inflations as in the Belly Breathing exercise, that is. What! Fred Witt Takes Job As Patrolman at CP Central Point Fred J. Witt, 36, of 278 Freeman rd., has as sumed duties of night patrolman in Central Point, succeeding Jo seph Walsh, who resigned to ac cept a position in the Jackson county sheriff's office. Witt was appointed night pa trolman by the council last week. He served in the Marine corps during World War II, and was graduated from college in Phoenix, Ariz. He, his wife and three children have been resi dents of Oregon since 1951. After the vein valves have lost competency the treatment required, aside from prophylac tic measures here described and some other measures described in the pamphlet, may be (1) suit able elastic stocking, (2) obliter- I ation of one or more veins by chemical injection, r (3) surgi cal removal of portions of one or more veins and ligation (tying off) of one or more veins. Which of these methods of treatment is a question the patient's own physician is best qualified to answer. Since varicose ulcer is a con sequence of varicose weakness of the veins, successful treat ment of ulcer depends upon the effectiveness of treatment of the veins.
