(Brainerd Photo) Vilas-Herried Wedding Held In Church Here Mrs. Frona Irene Herried and George Warren Vilas were mar ried August 3 in a ceremony held at First Methodist church. The Rev. J. Thomas Dixon officiated for the service which was fol lowed by a small reception held in the church parlor. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Holmes attended the couple. For the ceremony the bride wore a pink lace frock with white hat and corsage of white orchids. Mr. and Mrs. Vilas are travel ing north to Victoria, B.C., for their wedding trip and upon their return will live at 1431 Eu clid avenue until a new home is completed for them. Both Mr. and Mrs. Vilas are well known in Medford, and Mr. Vilas is a member of an early-day family. Patio Party Mr. and Mrs. John H. Bunker, 118 Valley View drive, entertain ed Wednesday evening at an in formal patio party at their home. Guests at the party earlier had attended the wedding of Mrs. Frona Herried and George Vilas. Traveler Returns From Stay Abroad Jacksonville Miss Simonne Petard, daughter of Auguste Pe tard and the late Mrs. Petard, returned last week from France where she has been since late April. At Colombes she visited Lu cian Pousseur, brother of her mother, and his family. In Par is she was at the home of a cousin, Peter Pousseur. Relatives,of her father live in Brittany and she visited there, mainly in Nantes." Guests Leave Mr. and Mrs. Peter DeBore and daughter, Karen, left today by United Air lines for their home in Seattle, after being guests of "Dr. and Mrs. Dwight H. Findley, Old Stage road. McCulloch, formerly of Medford and now of Santa Bar bara, Calif., to Haydn C. Lee Jr., Carpinteria, Calif. The double ring ceremony was performed June 17 at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Hugh A. Huddleson of Zypher Cave, Nev., a Presbyter ian minister. The ceremony was read in the Douglas county court house in the courtroom at Min den, Nev. At the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Krienke, mother and stepfather of the bridegroom. The couple made a trip through Carson pass in the Sierra Nevada mountains and through the inland route to Escondido, Calif. The couple will live at route 5, box 542, Escondido until the fall session of California State Polytechnic college at San Luis Obispo. Mr. Lee will be a jun ior in agricultural engineering and his bride was ' graduated from Medford Senior High school in 1954. They plan to visit southern Oregon in early September. Jaycettes Hold Swimming Party At Flanagans Medford Jaycettes were enter tained with a swimming party at the , home of the George Flan agans on North Pacific highway Wednesday evening. Ping pong and shuffleboard followed by a business meeting rounded out the evening's activities. Mrs, Charles Jones and Mrs. Gary Shuler served refreshments. A report was given on the baked food sale given for Miss Pat Minnis, queen contestant sponsored by the Jaycees. Mrs Wilmer Robertson announced plans for the group to attend one of the Shakespearean plays held in Ashland. Tentative plans were made to see Macbeth on Monday, August 22. Anyone in terested in going is to contact Mrs. Robertson. For September activities the group is planning a theater party September 7, and a cotton and jeans barn dance September 24 ivirs. unanes snepnerd was named chairman and her com mittee will include Mrs. Larry Allen, Mrs. Bob Hollenbeck, Mrs. Bob Hart, Mrs. Don James, and Mrs. W. w: Smith. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Bob Foster on Fern Valley road, August 17, with Mrs. Robert Boyer and Mrs. Larry Allen co-hostesses. 4 Relatives Visit In Shady Cove Shady Cove Mrs. J. M. Cra der and Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Hinton and family have return ed to their homes in Cape Girardeau, Mo., after visiting in Shady Cove with Mr. and Mrs. Arley Spain and family and Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Spain and family. Mrs. Crader is the moth er of Delbert and Arley Spain and Mrs. Hinton is their sister. It was the first time in 15 years that the three children and their mother, Mrs. Crader have been together. Couple to Leave For Summer Home Mr. and Mrs. 5. A. Littrell, Country Club estates, plans to leave Monday for Rocky Point to spend several days at the summer home of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Wolcken, who are va cationing" there from Oakland, Calif. Auxiliary Plans Food Booth Today Plans for a food booth at to day's Jacksonville jubilee were planned by Crater Lions club auxiliary members when they met Wednesday at the home of Mrs. J. W. Royce, 28 North Groveland avenue. Dessert was served by Mrs. Mike Morris and Mrs. Manville Heisel. The group also decided to hold a rummage sale in the near fu ture. Mrs. D. J. Gressert was ap pointed chairman. Other mem bers of her committee are Mrs. Dan Dwyer, Mrs. Robert Kyle Jr., Mrs. Murray Dumas and Mrs. George Potucek. Try a little oatmeal as thick ener for soups. Dollar for Dollar and Pattern for Pattern You Get More Buy International increase- Art Show Winners Announced Jacksonville Miss Margaret Osenbrugge won first place in the adult division of the annual Jubilee art show, it was an nounced Saturday. Only one en try was placed in the junior divi sion which resulted in no judg ing in that group. Miss Osen brugge's painting was entitled, "Mt. Pitt." Robert Miller, who recently came to the valley to live, won second with a self-portrait, and Mrs. Fred Rankin took third place with "Moro Rock, Calif." one of the series she has done featuring shadows. All winning pictures were done in oils and all the artists live in Medford. Artists from various parts of the valley entered exhibits in cluding some from Grants Pass and Eagle Point. Judges were Warren Wolf and Steve Bayliss, Medford, and Miss Marion Ady, Ashland. The show, which was opened Saturday, will remain open to day for Jubilee visitors. Hosts for the show are Mrs. Gean Neece, and Mrs. Ada An drews, both of Gold Hill; Charles Henderson, Eagle Point; Dr. E. Muhs, Camp White; Harry Marx; Maccine Titus and Mrs. Rankin, all of Medford. Miss Pat Sether arrived from Menlo Park, Calif., yesterday and will spend a week here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Sether, 1007 Queen Anne avenue. Artists to Meet At Mon Desir Inn Southern Oregon Society of Artists will meet Wednesday, August 10, at 7:30 p.m., at Mon Desir Dining inn. The meeting will be held in the French room, and all artists attending are in vited to take work to be judged for picture of the mcnth. Guests of members are also invited to attend the meetings. The flower show, the first to be sponsored during the jubilee, has been arranged by members of the Jacksonville Garden clu. Officers stressed that visitors will find room to sit and rest and they are invited to meet their friends there and visit. Cof fee, punch and home made cookies will be served for a small fee. Mrs. Harold Reed is show chairman and Mrs. Minnie Of fenbacher is in charge of the serving. In addition to gladiolus the exhibits will include arrange ments made with driftwood, min iature displays, dish gardens and others. The show will open at noon. Southern Oregon Society of Artists is sponsoring the art show, open to all artists of the valley. The public is invited to participate in a popular vote of the pictures they judge best. Plans for the show were made at a meeting , Tues day night. The event will be the evening of September 1 at Rogue River High school gymnasium and will feature fashions for the entire family. The president, Mrs. Harold Sander, conducted the business session and it was announced that several members will assist at the blood bank August 9. Mrs. Larry Sheehan, program chairman, presented Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Petrie who showed colored slides taken on their recent trip to the Hawaiian is lands. c Visit Clarks Mr. and Mrs. James Johnson and children, Kathy, Jimmie and Janie, Chicago, 111., were house guests last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Clark, 133 White Oak drive.
