The bride attended Southern Oregon college and Northwest ern School of Commerce, Port land, after graduating from Med ford High school. Mr. Swindler, a member of the Medford Fire department, is a veteran of serv ice with the United States Army and was stationed in Korea for a number of months. They made their wedding trip to Shasta lake in California. Nelson-Greb Service Held At Millards Eagle Point Miss Freda Marie Greb and Harvey Hiram Nelson Jr., both 1955 Eagle Point high school graduates, were married July 29 in 8 o'clock evening rites. The Rev. D. E. Millard read the ceremony which took place at the Millard home. About 20 guests attended. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Greb, Butte Falls Star route, box 103, Eagle Point, and the bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Nel son, route 1, box 41, Eagle Point. The bride was given in mar riage by her father. She wore a lavender gown with white ac cessories and her corsage was of white gladiolus. Mrs. Lloyd Breeding, a sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a light grey and rose figured dress and her corsage was of red and white gladiolus. The Rev. and Mrs. Millard furnished the wedding music. The bride is a native of Jack son county and the bridegroom has lived in the Rogue valley his entire life. He is employed by the Medford corporation. The reception was held at the home of the bride's parents and the couple made their wedding trip to northern California. They will live in Medford. Mother, Daughter Return from Trip Mrs. Herschell L. Mooney and daughter, Marilyn, 2675 Hill crest road, arrived home August 28 after spending the past two months in the east with rela tives. They visited the. Mooney's two older daughters and their families, Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm E. Sample and daughter, Susan Jane, in Demarest, N.J., and Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Erieg and son. Matt, Long Island, N.Y. The trip was by United Air lines. Mr. Mooney accompanied his wife and daughter east, and returned home earlier. Travel Pictures Shown by Goldys Mr. and Mrs. Mark A. Goldy, 35 Berkeley way, invited a num ber of friends to their home last evening for an informal coffee party held in the patio. They showed colored slides taken by Mr. Goldy while the couple toured the Far East recently. The scenes included pictures taken in Thailand, Java, Bali, Singapore, Hongkong and the Philippine islands. --SJi' ', Sunday, August 7, 1S55 Mr. and Mrs. Donald Cheever Garden Ceremony Marries Nurse and Medical Student Miss Shirley Koger and Donald Cheever were married July 24 in a garden wedding held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Carter, uncle and aunt of the bride, Gold Hill. The Rev. H A. Dier dorff officiated. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Koger, 2376 Howard avenue, this city, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hurlbert C. Cheever, Bozeman, Mont. For the ceremony the bride wore a white dacron dress with lace bolero, and a short veil. She carried a cascade bouquet of white gladoli. Mr. Koger gave his daughter in marriage. The matron-of-honor was Mrs. Darrel Dawson, sister of the bride. Her frock was aquama rine blue, and her flowers were yellow gladoli. Miss Judith Cotter, brides maid, wore a yellow dress and her bouquet was of peach col ored gladoli. The flower girl was Ruth Ann Carter, Lima, Ohio, a granddaughter of Mrs. Frank Carter. She wore a light blue dress. The mothers of both the bride and bridegroom wore summer dresses with white corsages. For the reception Mrs. Elwood Abbott, an aunt of the bride, served the wedding cake and another aunt, Mrs. Lindsay Hous ton, served punch. Mrs. Paul Schulz, also an aunt, assisted. Misses Vera and Lucille Ab bott, cousins of the bride, took charge of the guest book and gifts. Mrs. R. Gilmore, Portland, was soloist, accompanied by Ronald Negles at the organ. The bridegroom's best man was Richard Prater, Portland, and usher was Jimmie Dawson, brother-in-law of the bride. Out-of-town guests here for the wedding were the bride groom's parents and Mrs. Rich ard Prater, R. Gilmore, Miss Sheila Barrett, Miss Nancy McBride, all of Portland; Miss Jane Duling, Kelso, Wash.; Mrs. Catherine Rear, Crescent City, Calif.; and Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Carter and family, Lima, Ohio. After a short honeymoon camp ing and fishing in southern Ore gon, the newlyweds will be at home at 3327 S.W. Eleventh ave., Portland. Mrs. Cheever is a nurse at Multnomah County hospital and her husband is a student at University of Oregon Medical school. t Medford Woman Guest at Farm Of Eisenhowers Mrs. Roy V. Rickard has re turned to her home on Newton street after a trip through the middle western and eastern states to visit relatives and friends. En route east she -visited in Missouri and in Michigan. Her son, James, is a student at Mich igan State university and Mrs. Rickard also visited her mother in Michigan. She continued to Washington, D. C, where she a guest of Capt. and Mrs. R. M. Shoemaker, her son-in-law and daughter. Captain Shoemaker is on duty in the Pentagon build ing. Mrs. Rickard was a guest of Mrs. Dwight Eienhower at the Eienshower's Pennsylvania farm one day. The Rickards and Eisenhowers have been friends for many years, General Rick ard and President Eisenhower having served together when both were young Army officers. Mrs. Rickard returned home by way of the Black Hills and Custer Park, and also toured Yellowstone National Park. Edward W. Demmer in a ceremony held Saturday, July 30, at First Methodist church. The Rev. J. Thomas Dixon performed the double ring rites at one o'clock and about 40 close relatives and friends attended. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Greaves, 716 West Thirteenth street, and the bridegrooms' parents are Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Demmer of 719 West Thirteenth street. The bride's gown was of white crystalline, street length, worn with a small white lace hat and white lace shoes. Her bouquet was of pink carnations and stephanotis carried on a white Bible. Mrs. E. E. Gunter, aunt of the bride, was honor attendant. She wore a street length dress of Engagement Told At Cocktail Party Given by Flynns The engagement and approach ing marriage of Mrs. Jackie Allworth, formerly of this city and now of Belmont, Calif., was announced at a cocktail party given last Wednesday by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Diamond Flynn, at their home, 6 East over terrace. Thirty guests at tended. Mrs. Allworth will be mar ried to Bruce Holmes of Menlo Park, Calif., in an early Sep tember wedding to be held at the home of the bridegroom's parents in Menlo Park. Mrs. Allworth, who arrived last Sunday to visit her parents, was honored at a luncheon given by Mrs. Larry Schade and Mrs. Larry Schade Jr., at Rogue Val ley Country club Thursday. Sat urday Mrs. Allworth left to spend a few days in Portland, and she will return here briefly before continuing on to Cali fornia. Mr. and Mrs. Flynn plan to be in California for the wedding. Mrs. Allworth's son, Clark, is spending the summer with his grandparents. Also here to visit the Flynns are another daughter and her children, Mrs. Don Ross, Leslie, Barbara and Steve, Portland. Tliey arrived Monday and Mr. Ross came yesterday to spend the week end. Robert Emmens Visits Relatives Col. Robert Emmens, air base commander of the Myrtle Beach Air Force base, S. C, visited briefly last week in Medford with nis mother, Mrs. J. J. Em mens, 1443 East Main street, and his brother, Dr. Thomas H. Em mens, and family, 6 North Modoc avenue. Party Given for Pi Phi Members Active members of Pi Beta Phi sorority were entertained by the valley alumnae club Wednesday evening at a picnic patio party at the home of Mrs. James Busch, Ridge road, Ash land. Both the bride's mother and the bridegroom's mother wore navy blue dresses with white accessories for the event. Serving as best man was the bridegroom's brother, Donald Demmer and ushers were E. E. Gunter and Edward Manley. The church was decorated with pink and white gladiolus and candelabra holding tapers. A reception was held in the church parlors, decorated with gladiolus and greenery. The wedding cake was served by Mrs. Carl Bjorquist, great -aunt of the bride, and Mrs. John P. Burch, aunt of the bride, pre sided at the punch bowl. Miss Donna Demmer, sister of the bridegroom, had charge of the guest book. The couple traveled to the coast for a wedding trip and are now at home in Twentynine Palms, Calif., where corporal Demmer is stationed with the United States Marine Corps. Both the bride and bride groom attended Medford schools and graduated from Medford High school. Out-of-town guests were Mrs. Mary E. Greaves of Portland, great-grandmother of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bjorquist of Portland, aunt and uncle of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Mer rill, Spokane, grandparents of the bridegroom; Mrs. John P. Burch, aunt of the bride, and her sons John and Ralph. Mrs. Greaves celebrated her 88th birthday on the couple's wedding day and Donald Dem mer, brother of the bridegroom, also celebrated his birthday the same day. The rehearsal party was given by Mrs. E. E. Gunter, with mem bers of the wedding party and of the families attending. Wedding Planned For August 20 Miss Harriett Houghton will arrive in Medford from St Louis, Mo., August 17 and her wedding to Alf Guldahl is set for St. Mark's Episcopal church here on August 20. Mr. Guldahl, of Oslo, Norway, is a student at Washington university, St. Louis, Miss Houghton, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Houghton 512 Dakota avenue, was grad uated from Central Institute for the Dead and Washington univer sity in June. Lizbergs Hosts At Theater Party . Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Lizberg, 2117 Dellwood avenue, enter tained at a pre-theater dinner party Friday evening attended by Dr. and Mrs. Neal Black and their children, Kathy, Bruce and Janie, Klamath Falls. The group later . attended the - Oregon Shakespearean Festival play, "Midsummer Night's Dream." The bride is the former Miss Marguerite Dawn Lamp, daughter of Mrs. Edna Lamp, 211 Vancouver avenue. The bridegroom is a son of .Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Myrick, route 2, box 161, Central Point. The Rev. G. H. Hillerman read the ceremony at 8 o'clock in the evening, and the reception was held at the home of the bride groom's mother. Mrs. Frank Reich, sister of the bride, was honor attendant and Mr. Reich was best man. The bride wore a light blue suit with white accessories and her corsage was of pink rose buds. Mrs. Reich wore a light grey suit with pink accessories, and pink carnations made up her corsage. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Lamp wore a lav ender and white dress with white accessories and a white carnation corsage. The newly wedded couple lives at 114 Tripp street. The bride will be employed as secretary at the Washington school and is a 1955 : graduate of Medford Senior High school The bridegroom, a 1954 gradu ate of Crater High school, is employed by the Russel Tile company in Central Point. Give Dinner Mr. and Mrs. George Roberts and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Luther entertained last Saturday at a dinner party held at the Luther home, Talent. Stuart, grand mother of the bridegroom-elect; Mrs. Yvonne Galen and Miss Isobel Stuart. The wedding is set for August 13 at First Methodist church. Eugene Visitors Here for Plays Mrs. O. R. Chambers and her daughter - in - law, Mrs. Neal Chambers, both of Eugene, plan to leave Monday after being in the valley to attend the Oregon Q Shakespearean Festival plays. They arrived for the optning night at the festival and fiave been guests of Mr. and Mrs. S. Ralph Dippel, 1 Eastwood drive, during their visit. They are staying at the Lithia hotel in Ashland.
