Boys Arrested Two 16-year-old boys, both from Oroville, Calif., have been arrested by city police and lodged in the county Jail on a charge of viola tion of curfew law, according to jail records. Grange Dinner A ham din ner, open to the public, will be served at the Roxy Ann Grange hall Sunday, July 17, from 12 noon to 5 p.m. This is the first of such annual events planned and the proceeds will be used toward repairing ' the Grange hall. May Have Visitors Mrs. Minnie' Applegate; 816 West 13th st., now is convalescing at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Thomas J. O'Harra, 2325 Garden st., Klamath Falls. Mrs. Applegate underwent two major surgeries in June. She now is convalesc ing satisfactorily and may have visitors, and particularly appre ciates greetings and letters from friends here, her granddaughter, Bonnie O'Harra, wrote the Mail Tribune. Manhole Installed City work men have completed the installa tion of a manhole and cover on Front st. between Main and East Eighth sts., according to Vernon Thorpe, city public works director. The manhole was installed in an old sewer line constructed- about 1910, Thorpe said. Frank Carson, a Butte Falls resident for the past 45 years who died in a local hos pital today, will be read at Perl funeral home Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Members of Medford Elks lodge will conduct services at the chapel and cremation will fol low at Siskiyou crematorium. He was a barber and a mem ber of the Medford Elks lodge. Survivors include his wife, Mat tie, Butte Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Lottie Aker and Mrs. Lon Lemon both of Kansas City, Mo., and a brother, Wilson, Medford. WILLIAM JAMISON Funeral services are pending at Perl Funeral home for Wil liam James Jamison, father of Mrs. Jack Brophy of Eagle Point, who died at Grants Pass yesterday. SYLVIA ROSE Funeral services for Mrs. Syl via Lund -Rose, 83, who died Monday in Berkeley, Calf ., will be held in Conger-Morris chapel Friday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. G. Herbert Hillerman of Zion Lutheran church officiating. Committal will be in Siskiyou Memorial park. The decftsed was born Aug. 31, 1871, in Hardanger, Norway, and came to this country in 1893. She was married in 1898, in Far go, N.D., to Louis G. Rose, who died in 1942. She came to south ern Oregon from San Francisco in 1938, living here until 1952, when she returned to Berkeley, Calif., to live with her daughter, Mrs. Clara Burdette. Other survivors include two sons, Leonard and Lewis, San Francisco, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. BESSIE JONES Bessie S. Jones, 80, of 710 Sherman st.,. died yesterday in a local hospital. - Conger-Morris funeral home is in charge of fun eral arrangements. CARL ALTHOUSE Carl Culver Althouse, 78, of 123 Florence ave., a resident of Medford for the past 31 years, died at his home today. Funeral arrangements are pending at Chapel Mortuary. - At Community Mike O'Shea, Jacksonville, is a surgery pa tient at Community hospital, at tendants said today. Gun Stolen Lynn Bucklin, 2845 Elliott St., Medford, re ported to Jackson county sher iff's office that someone stole a gun from under the seat of his car parked on the lot at Big Y Supermarket recently. . Damaged Boxes Jackson county sheriff's officers are in vestigating a report that mail boxes along Spring st. were damaged by vandals last night. Officers said persons in cars ap parently damaged . the boxes while driving along the street. At Sacred Heart Three new patients were reported today at Sacred Heart hospital. James D. Ward, 508 Fairmount st., is there for medical care. Mrs. Thayer Klesser, 2365 Victory st., and Mrs. George Knowles, 512 King St., had surgery. Equipment Bids on Rural District's Needs Submitted Central Point Action on awarding contracts for equip ment for a White City fire sta tion was delayed by the board of directors of the Central Point Rural Fire. Protection district last night for further considera tion. Several bids were opened at noon yesterday for a 1,000-gal-lon pumper truck, a 1,000-gal- lon tank truck, 4,500 feet of fire hose, 20 turnout coats, 20 hel mets and several special hose gaskets. Station Authorised The White City fire station, which will be built without cost to the .district by the White City Realty company, was authorized in a special budget election in the district recently. The dis trict will supply and maintain equipment. Rogue River Theft Listed by Sheriff Burglars took about 12 auarts of beer from Robinson's grocery in Rogue River last night, Jack son county sheriffs officers re ported, today. Officers said the burglarly oc curred about 1:50 a.m. todav. The grocery, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Lewis T. Robinson, was entered by forcing a rear door open. Only the beer was dis turbed, oficers said. An attempted burglary across the street from Robinson's Groc ery in Homestead Tavern was reported to sheriff's officers. bhade Combs and William H. Officers said the attempt was made about 1:30 a.m. today. Control Expected In Wyoming Fires Laramie. Wyo. flJ.R) With luck and no high wind, Forest Service officials believed thev could finally put out two forest fires in Medicine Bow National Park forest today. B.ut in the past week, more than -4000 acres of timber has been destroyed. The Weather Bureau at Chey enne foresaw little or no rain in the forest today, but neither did it predict any high .winds. Twice last week, high afternoon winds swept the fire past fire lines and ruined the efforts of several hundred men to contain the flames.
