i Johmon-Starh Ceremony Held in Community Church Central Point Miss Frances Marie Starks became the bride of Martin Paul Johnson in a cere mony held June 11 at 7 o'clock at Community Bible church in Central Point. The Rev. Rolf H Hansen performed the double- ring ceremony. About ISO guests were present. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry F. Starks, 68 Freeman road, Central Point and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil B. John son, Gold Hill. The bride's gown was designed with a long-sleeved bodice and full skirt of ruffled tulle over satin, trimmed with small vel vet bows. At her throat the bride wore a small pearl fan pin which belonged to her mother for the traditional something old and her full-length veil was held by a crown of white net leaves and pearls. She carried an orchid encircled with stepha notis. . Miss Nancy Rtinyan, Vista, Calif., was honor attendant. She wore a yellow taffeta ballerina frock with white lace and net overskirt and matching bolero jacket Her bouquet was of blue Ester Reed dasies and stepha notis. Bridesmaids were Miss Linda Obenchain and Miss Doreen Bohnert, Central Point, and Miss Janet .Willarding, Medford. Miss Obenchain's gown was of blue net over taffeta, ballerina style, worn with white lace jacket and she carried pink daisies. Miss Mrs. John Goldt Heads Garden Club Of Evans Valley Evans Creek Mrs. John Goldt was installed president of the Evans Valley Garden club at a luncheon meeting June 22 held in the patio of the Thomas Machline home. Mrs. Claire Douglas was the installing of ficer. Mrs. Neily Sund was installed vice-president, and Mrs. Vera Orr, secretary-treasurer. Mrs. W. W. Patterson Sr., was guest at the meeting and as sisting the hostess was Mrs. Orr. A skit, entitled, "One of These Days," was given by Mrs. E. J. Butterfield, Mrs. Machline and Mrs. Robert Wales. Flowers exhibited by members included peach bells, hybrid col umbine, delphinium, tuberous begonias- and snapdragons. Committee appointments in clude Mrs Orr, publicity; Mrs. Machline, hospitality, birthdays and historian; Mrs. Harry Win ters,' magazine; Mrs. Butterfield, program; Mrs. Robert Wales, horticulture; Mrs. Douglas, ways and means; Mrs. Louis Bond, corsage; Mrs. Peg McWhorter, professional shopper and Mrs. Goldt, birds. A meeting on July 27 will be at the home of Mres. Harry Win tern. Mrs. Sund will be cohostess. Two Garden Clubs Announce Picnic Howard Garden club and Roxy Gardeners will meet together at TouVelle park Tuesday, June 28, at 12 noon. A potluck luncheon will be followed by joint installa ' tion of officers. Bohnert wore a frock of green net and taffeta with white lace jacket and . her flowers were yellow daisies. Miss Willarding's frock was of orchid net and taf feta with white lace jacket and her nosegay was of green Ester Reed daisies. All four attendants wore white blossoms and their cos tumes were completed with white nylon gloves and white ballerina slippers. Flower girl was Carolyn Starks, Ukiah, Calif., cousin of the bride. Her frock was orchid color with white daisies, and her headband was of blue ribbon and daisies. She carried a small bas ket of ribbon and lace. Miss Le Ann Simonson, Smith River, Calif., and Charles John son, brother of the bridegroom, lighted the candles. Miss Simon son wore a pink net frock trimmed with" white sequins. Mr. Starks gave his daughter in marriage and Leland Starks, brother of the bride, was best man. Ushers were Charles Gil christ and . Stanley Newnham, Medford, and Gene Holderness, Gold Hill. Mrs. Loree Ford was soloist. Arrangements of garden blos soms and tapers in candelabra decorated the church, and white bows marked the pew ends. Miss Alice Turner took charge of dec orations. The reception was held in the church parlor, which was also decorated with bouquets of flow ers. Mrs. Don Turner took charge of the gift table and Miss Alice Turner the guest book. Mrs. Arthur Brereton served the wedding cake and Mrs. Ervin Willarding the punch. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Starks wore a formal gown of white flowered nylon and a corsage of yellow rosebuds. The bridegroom's mother was gowned in orchid - colored lace and net over taffeta and her flowers were also yellow rose buds. The newlyweds traveled to California . for their wedding trip and are -et home at 709 Manzanita street, Central Point. The bride, a graduate of Crater High school, is a stenographer for Attorney J .F. Fliegel. The bridegroom served four years in the United States Navy after completing Gold Hill High school and is with the Medford corporation. Among, the wedding guests were Mrs. Amy Johnson, Salem, grandmother of the bridegroom; Mrs. Myra P. Starks, Boise, Ida., grandmother of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Taw and Lee Tallman, Salem, uncles and aunt of the bridegroom; Miss Jeanette Starks, Seattle, a cousin of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Don Starks and children, Ukiah and John W. Leonard, Boise, uncles and aunt of the bride. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Leonard, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hunt, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Horrell and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Rettie and daughter, all of John Day, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. Les Schnabele and sons, Izee, Ore.; Mrs. Fred Hanson, Fox, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs, Leland Simonson and Lou Ann, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Simonson and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Simon son, all of Smith River. The new bethel is number 55 in Oregon. Mrs. Ward Green, Portland, grand guardian, and Roy Col burn, Roseburg, associate grand guardian, presented the charter to Mrs. C. D. Elhart, Ashland, a past grand guardian and one of the founders of the bethel. Mrs. Elhart in turn presented the Court Members Visit Portland And Oregon City Two members of Roxy Ann court, Order of Amaranth, have attended functions of the order held in Portland and Oregon City recently. Carl H. W. Oestreich, royal patron of Roxy Ann Court, at tended a reception honoring the grand associate matron, Mrs. William Pritchard, at Ionic court, Portland. Mr. Oestreich reports that the grand royal matron, Mrs. Hans Madsen, and grand royal patron, Raymond Howell, were present together with many officers of the grand family as well as visi tors from the state of Washing ton. Sunnyside court, Portland, honored their 1954 officers and grand officers at their meeting held on June 14, and Mr. Oest reich attended this meeting also. Mrs. Glenn L. Linn, grand charity of the grand court and past royal matron of Roxy Ann court, attended Washington court, Portland, Monday even ing. , Mrs. Madsen and Mr. Howell, visited the court officially " to gether with members of their grand family. There were many visitors present, including some from Washington. Mrs. Linn also assisted in the institution of Kellogg court, Ore gon City, Tuesday evening, this court having been named in honor of Joseph Kellogg who was responsible for the Mason ic Blue Lodge charter reaching Oregon City for Multnomah Lodge No. 1, AF&AM. Officers of the grand court presented the ritualistic work. Many dignitaries were present including the junior past grand royal matron, Mrs. Charles E. Hunt, Eugene. : Rebekah Lodge Closes Season; Program Given A meeting of Olive Rebekah lodge last Monday was the last to be held by the group until the third Monday in September, officers have anounced. During the session Mrs. Dol lie Love was installed inside guardian, replacing Mrs, E. A. McGinty, who resigned. Mrs. Riley Applegate, district deputy president, and Mrs. O. S. Wal den, marshall, conducted the in stallation. Mrs. Inez Youngburg received withdrawal credentials. She plans to move soon to Califor nia with her family. Mrs. Lewis Thomnunn Tpnnrt- ed on a gift to Glendale Rebekah lodge which is observing a 50th anniversary. Initiation is planned for early fall. Mrs. James Wicker was the program director arid the pro gram consisted of violin, niann and guitar numbers and selec tions nlaved bv Mrs. C. R. Alex ander's orchestra. Ivan San ders, who is visiting for the summer from South Dakota, played guitar numbers. The Rogue River Navy Moth ers club presented a nart of the program, with rhythm band se charter to Mrs. Paul Selby. guardian of the new bethel. Also here for the ceremony was Frank Mayes, vice-associate grand guardian, Milwaukee, Ore. Grand officers who conducted the installation of the guardian council after the chartering was done were Mrs. Elhart, guide; Mrs. J. R. Clary, Ashland, mar shal; Mrs. Foss Cramer, Ash land, chaplain; Mr. Cramer, mu sician and Frank Mayes, Port land, secretary. Council members installed were Mrs. Selby; Lem Manning, associate guardian; Herbert Sampert, treasurer; George Thomas, guardian of fraternal relations; Mrs. Etta McKinney, guardian of music; Mrs. V. J. Robinson, paraphernalia;. Mrs. Harold Gordan. secretary; Mrs. W. S. Spence, finance chairman; and Mrs. Clyde W. Lees, publicity. From out of town also were Mrs. Marjorie Wymore, Port land, and Mrs. William Wilson, Myrtle Creek. Mrs. Green and Mr. Colburn were entertained at dinner at the Medford hotel preceding the ceremonies and an addendum was given in their honor. Mrs. George Thomas was social chair man and Mrs. Hanson and Mrs. Manning were in charge of re freshments after the ceremonies. The reception table was decor ated with ribbons and miniature charters were used as favors Phoenix Groups Install Officers Tuesday Evening Phoenix Manville Heisel of the Crater Lions club was in stalling officer for the Phoenix Lions club and Mrs. Lowell Ed wards was auxiliary installing officer during joint installations Tuesday evening at Rogue Val ley Country club. Paul Hartsook was installed Lion president; M. Donald Mc Geary, Ernest Campbell and Roy Harnden, first, second and third vice-presidents, respectively; Frank Lovett, secretary-treasurer; Norman Williams, lion tamer; Leonard Carlson, tail twister, and Leonard Halfhill and Elmer Faytinger, directors. The auxiliary officers install ed are Mrs. Ray Claflin, presi dent; Mrs. C. A. Stothers. Mrs. McGeary, first and second vice president; Mrs. Albert Cons bruck, secretary; Mrs. Herman Gier, treasurer, and Mrs. Ernest James, lion lamer. Mr. Halfhill also was present ed a bronze plaque for outstand ing service in Lionism and Mrs. Halfhill was awarded a jewel box in appreciation of her as sistance. Mr. Frazier made the presentations. Mr. Edwards also presented awards for five-year perfect at tendance to Mr. Halfhil, Mr. Hartsook and Mr. Ray Harrison. Perfect attendance awards for the past year went to John Cook, Mr. Faytinger, Opie Fra zier, Mr. Hartsook, Mr. Harri son, Elliot Bailey, Warren Hag gard, Mr. Lovett, Art MacKin- tosh, Michael Popow, Norman Williams, Mr. Harnden and Mr. Halfhill. Mrs. John Cook, retiring pres- ident of the auxiliary, presented perfect attendance awards to auxiliary members, Mrs. Roy Claflin, Mrs. Cook, Mrs. Fay tinger, Mrs. Haggard, Mrs. Half hill, Mrs. Hartsoolf, Mrs. James, Mrs. Popow, Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Consbruclc, Mrs. Ernest Camp bell and Mrs. Jake Walsh. ' Piano Students Give Recital at Schuchard Home Twenty four piano students of Mrs. Richard Schuchard present ed their annual spring program recently at the Schuchard home, 101 Geneva street. Dr. Lee Mellish, advisor for the group, was the evening's speak er, and Mrs. Irene Culy, director for the organization, presented the caps. Over 40 persons attended in cluding several dentists and their wives. Those who were capped are Miss Georgia Ashby, Mrs. Anne Bateman, Mrs. Leona Bateman, Miss Mary Durham, Mrs. Jean Goesling, Mrs. Juanita Lee, Mrs. Elsie Harris, Mrs. Rosalie La- Fleur, Mrs. Marian Lusk, Miss Betty Jean Schneider, Miss Mar ian Wood, Mrs. Lucille Wilson, and Mrs. Izora Pflug. Plan Ceremony A special pledge ceremony will be conducted June 27 at 8 p.m. by members of Alpha Lambda chapter, Epsilon -Sigma Alpha sorority. The hostess will be Mrs. William Raymond at her home at 728 Beekman avenue. Butte Falls Clubs Hold Installation Butte Falls Butte Falls Lion's club and auxiliary held installation of officers June 22, with 28 members and seven guests attending. The meeting was preceded by a potluck din ner. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Edwards, Eston Humph ry and Earl Courtney from Med ford; and Mr. and Mrs. Page Stauffer and Miss Julia Pingle of Butte Falls. Mrs. Edwards was installing officer for the auxiliary and Mr. Humphry in stalling officer for the Lion's club. Officers installed were: Presi dent, Douglas Finch; secretary, Ernest Smith; treasurer, Robert Tracy; lion tamer, Roger Harris; tail twister, Charles Capello; ex ecutive committee, Let Casey. Vice-president Elga Abbott was absent. Auxiliary officers installed were: President, Mrs. Bruce Pingle; vice-president, Mrs. W. A. Hartlerode; secretary, Mrs. Basil Zimmerlee; treasurer, Mrs. Smith; lion trainer, Mrs. Harris. The next Lions club meeting will be a dinner July 13 at 7 p. m. at the high school audito rium.
