D., following their mar riage last Sunday, June 12. The couple will live near Erie where the bridegroom is a farmer. The bride is the former Miss Darlene Bradshaw, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur L. Bradshaw. route .3, box 175-D, Medford. The bridegroom's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mitchell, also of Erie, were here for the wedding. The Rev. Darold H. Jones per formed the double ring rites at the First Church of God at 2:30 o'clock in the afternoon. . Mr. Bradshaw gave his daugh ter in marriage. Her white fig ured nylon dress was of street length and she carried a white orchid on a Bible. Miss Barbara Hendrickson, the maid of honor, wore a laven der organdy dress and her corsage was of pink carnations. Clifford Pedersen, was best man. Ushers were Roy Hoover and Peter Ryn. The bride's mother wore a pale green nylon dress and the bridegroom's mother chose a navy blue dress. Both had white accessories and both wore cor sages of carnations. Music was furnished by Mrs Jones who sang and Miss Leola Miller, the accompanist. At the reception held at the Jones home, 402 King street. Mrs. Hoover served the cake and Miss Doris Ryn poured the punch. Jacksonville Club Plans Installation Jacksonville Installation of officers is planned by Jackson ville Garden club for a meeting on Thursday, 'June 23, at the club's room in the old U. S. ho tel in Jacksonville at 1:30 p.m. A large amount of business, reports, payment of dues and for the club magazine are all on the agenda, it is stated. Mrs. Kenneth Farley will be hostess. A small charge will be made for the luncheon. Those who desire di rections or transportation are to meet at the church at 12;30 o'clock. Military Order To Meet Sunday; Plan Rehearsal . Cebu swamp, Military Order of the Lizards, will hold its next meeting at the home of Mrs. Bertha Nelson, 126 Clover lane, Medford, Sunday, June 28. at 1 p.m. A potluck dinner will be served at noon. Medford Lady Lizards are requested to bring hot dishes and Grants Pass Lady Lizards salads and desserts. This will be the last meeting before the grand swamp convo cation in Bend. Mrs. Albert Wal- lis, Grants Pass, - Cebu swamp gila monster, states that there will be practice for the skit to be given during the convocation stunt night. Sanford, Warrenton, Ore., arrived Saturday to visit for about a week with Mr. Sanford's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Sanford, Jack sonville. Meeting Of Garden Club "Eagle Point The June meet ing of the Eagle Point Federated Garden club, was held at the home . of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Dahack on Tiller-Trail Highway. Mrs. A. O. Floyd, Medford, in stalled officers for the ensuing year. They are president, Mrs Lawrence Messal; vice-president, Mrs. Francis Putman; secretary, Mrs. Clarence Davies; treasurer, Mrs. Earle Jossy and historian, Mrs. Ted Flury. - The club will assist the newly organized Garden club at Camp White, by donating plants, shrubs and bulbs of their choice. Club members served refresh ments and furnished entertain ment at a meeting -June 15. Mrs. Messal was the club dele gate to the state convention in Portland last week Mrs. Ira Fitzgerald, retiring president, thanked the members for their cooperation the past year. Mrs. Otto Nagel, made cor sages for the incoming officers. The meeting was in the nature of . a picnic, with a covered dish lunch at noon, under the shade trees on the Dahack lawn. X tour of- the large gardens was made. There were thirteen guests of the club present. Next meeting of the club will be at the home of Mrs.' John Carnes July 6. Cotton Bag Contest Opens This Month; Prizes Announced' y The National Cotton Bag Sew ing Contest officially opens this month and - Will . continue until mid-November' at 53 state and regional- fairs across the United States. ' '. Winners of each local fair re ceive a portable Pfaff sewing machine and a chance, at the national finals in Chicago No vember 15. During the finals the 1955 cotton bag sewing queen and two alternates will be se lected and receive an expense paid week in Chicago plus gifts totaling $2,500. These gifts in clude such items as refrigerator, gas range, automatic washen television set, sewing cabinets and many other valuable prizes. The third annual sewing con test, sponsored jointly by Na tional Cotton council and Textile Bag Manufacturers association, encourages women to take ad vantage of the . re-use value of cotton bags which package feed, flour, "sugar and other products. vThe ' popularity of this type sewing has been steadily grow ing and . today cotton-bag fash ions hold a prominent place in the style world. OAR Chapter Plans Picnic on Saturday The June meeting of Crater, Lake chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will be a picnic Saturday, June 25, at the home of Mrs. Edward Root on Jacksonville highway. Mrs. D. O. Hood will give a report on a state board meeting which she recent-. ly attended. Members are asked' to take their own service. Articles re garding the history of the flag, the "Romance of bur National Anthem" and the origin of the pledge to the flag were given. ' Mrs. Leo Williams, Camp White hospital chairman, report ed that Mrs. William Graham, department rehabilitation chair man, and Mrs. Elnora Ruef, de partment chairman of volunteer hospital workers, had recently visited Camp , White . and were favorably impressed with the Legion's program there. Chairman of past presidents, Mrs. Cole Holmes, reported that 57 dozen artificial flowers had been sent to the Portland Vet eran's hospital to be used by the men to decorate their wheel chairs for the recent rose parade. Mrs. Herb Goldsmith, poppy chairman, reported that the re cent poppy sale had been suc cessful and expressed her appre ciation for the cooperation of the public. Mrs. Pennington reported on the auxiliary's junior conference for District 13 held recently iu Ashland. Three Medford juniors attended and participated in initiation ceremonies. Summer Activities Planned by Group . At Session Monday Plans for - summer activities were made at a meeting of Scot tish Rite Women's club Monday at the Masonic temple. The presi dent, Mrs. Fred Graten, presided at the meeting. A potluck dinner was planned for June 27 and will be followed by an evening of cards. All Scot tish Rite Masons and their wives are cordially invited to attend. Those with thelriitials A-J inclu sive1 are to take hot vegetables, K-S, salads and T-Z, home made cakes. Those present were reminded of a potluck luncheon to be held June 24 at the home of Mrs. Edward Root, 3261 Jacksonville highway. ' After the meeting the women joined, the Scottish Rite Masons in the dining room where re freshments were served from ta bles decorated with columbine and red roses. Ross Conger, and Mrs. Gene Simmons who was rarrator. Mrs. John Dunlap furnished a feather quill pen for use of the officers in registering in a special "boat of gold." Mrs. Dale Blickenstaff of Med ford furnished accompaniment and an addenda was given in honor of the queen. Miss Vickie Noel presented the queen a vase in keeping with the theme of decorations, which were in a madonna motif. The hall was decorated with pink and white snapdragons and blue Ester Reed daisies with madonna figurines.
