Motor Fire A reported house fire was confined to a re frigerator motor about 6:40 p.m. yesterday at the Elsie Lewis home, 838 Dakota ave., firemen said. Smoke and heavy sulphur dioxide fumes caused slight dam age. Firemen said that no one was home and that neighbors turned in the alarm. Two pumper trucks were sent to the scene. Building Permits A build ing permit has been issued to William Wilson, 1518 Bryant st., for erection of a $10,500 resi dence at 325 Lynnwood st. Building permits were also is sued to the Central Motel, 440 South Riverside ave., for erect ing a $600 sign, and to H. T. Gunter, 531 west 10th St., for moving of home to new location and setting it up at an estimated cost of $500. Attend Funeral Mr. and Mrs. James Ambrose, 832 West 13th st., and daughter, Mrs. Willard Dooms, 1007 West Second st., have returned from Roseburg where they attended the funeral services for Ambrose's brother, Charles G. Ambrose, retired barber. Interment was Monday in the family vault at Yoncalla cemetery. Other survivors here include a nephew, Kenneth Am brose, 201 Canon st. Daughter Born Sgt. and Mrs. Willard Herzberg, Chateaurour, France, are parents of a daugh ter born June 8. The infant weighed 7 pounds. Mrs. Herz berg is the former Miss Alice Stansfield, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. . M. Stansfield, 836 V2 North Riverside ave., ind Ser geant Herzberg is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Herzberg of Grants Pass. The infant's mother is a 1951 Medford High school graduate. They plan to return to the states next fall. Accident Vehicles operated by Ralph L. Harris, 430 O'Gara st., and Marguerite Gardner, Rt. 1 Box 149 Eagle Point collided at the interesection of 8th and Holly sts., yesterday, city police said. No citations were given. Another accident occurred later in the day when a car driven by Theodore Wayne Maul, P. O, Box 7, was struck by a car driven by Rodger Earl Welch, 1140 West its st., in the inter section of Fifth and Holly sts Welch was cited for failure to yield the right of way. An $8,000 building permit has been issued to War ren Arnold for construction of a residence at 1125 Murray-st. . Business Name The business name Star and Key Agency has been filed in the office of the Jackson county clerk by LeRoy A. Starkey and Vida Starkey, both of P.O. Box 322, Medford. Purpose of the business is listed as property protection and in vestigation. Starkey is a former relief jailer in the county jail, and served as chief of police at Jacksonville for about two years. In Japan Mrs. Walter Hagen and daughter, Cindy, who lived here at 10 Portland ave., have arrived in Tokyo, Japan, to join Sergeant Hagen who is serving there with the Air Force. They will live at an Army base near Tokyo. Mrs. Hagen is the former Miss Sue Lusk of Eagle Point and she attended schools there. Fletcher, whose wife, Margaret DeCralow Flet cher, lives at 14 Hawthorne st., Medford, has been promoted to airman first class with the 36th air rescue squadron operating from an airbase near Tokyo. Fletcher was graduated from Medford High school in 1951, and entered the service Feb. 19, 1953. Prior to going overseas, he was stationed at West Palm Air Force base, Fla., and at Keesler Air Force base, Missis sippi. He recently was awarded the United Nations,. Highway Commission Slates Annual Tour The Oregon State Highway commission and representatives of various highway and state park organizations will pass through Medford Thursday, June 16, on an annual inspection of highways and state parks. The inspection party will be in -Ashland June 16, and will travel north on Pacific highway, one of several main routes which will be inspected by the group. The party will lunch in Roseburg, and inspect Susan Creek State park on the North Umoaua' and highway projects between Roseburg - and Eugene that afternoon.
