(U.R) Michael Toth. 52, asked a stranger Monday for direc tions to Booth Hospital. "Walk straight ahead . . ." was the reply and that's what Toth did. He walked straight down Garrard st.. right into the Ohio river. . Police rescued him 30 yards from shore and jailed him for drunkenness. Symond's Killers Effort To Seize To Be Continued Singapore (U.R) Harry Best Livingstone, crown coun sel, told a coroner's inquiry into the murder of United Press staff correspondent Gene Symonds to day that the investigation and efforts to apprehend the kill ers will not end when the pres ent inquiry closes. Livingstone made his state ment in an opening address to coroner's inquiry. He said a number of persons had been arrested in connection with the riots which took place at the time Symonds was killed. He did not indicate that any body had yet been charged with Symond's murder. The "investigation will con tinue" even after the inquiry is over, Livingstone said. The inquiry went , into its sec ond day today and perhaps will be completed tomorrow. Symonds died May 13 after being assaulted by a mob. He was stoned and beaten in the street and died in a hospital. One witness testified yester day he tried to get police help for Symonds after he was at tacked by the mob. Other witnesses told how a police car drove past Symonds without stopping to help him The United Press retained counsel and asked or a full and fair inquiry into the facts of Symonds' death in the interests of protecting American foreign correspondents everywhere. To Discuss Elections Tokyo (U.R) Radio Peiping repotred today that Communist North Viet Minn is ready to be gin talks with South Viet Nam on Indochina's nationwide elec tions scheduled for 1956. The broadcast heard here quoted Vice Premier Pham Van Dong as saying the withdrawal and transfer of opposing troops in Indochina had created the "necessary basis for the achieve ment in the near future of a poli tical settlement in Viet Nam."
