Medford Meeting Set By Unitarian Group "Where Constitutional Liberty Came From," will be the topic Sunday, June 5 at 7:30 p.m., for the Unitarian Fellowship of Ash land when the members will meet in Medford at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bau man, 213 South Barneburg rd. Church Officer To Speak Sunday; Pastor Selected Miss Margaret Shannon, home base secretary for the board of foreign missions, from New York city, member of the execu tive committee of the World's Presbyterian alliance, and a member of the National Council of Churches, will speak at both morning and evening services at the First Presbyterian church next Sunday. Topic Her topic will be, "The Church has the Answer." Miss Shannon has recently been abroad in Yugoslavia and Europe and will give the latest word from the various mission fields where the Presbyterian church is at work. Music for the morning serv ices will include anthems by the Chancel and Westminster choirs and a solo by James Baker. Pastor Selected Dr. Paul Calhoun, former pas tor at Lincoln, Neb., and the First Presbyterian church of Spokane, Wash., has been se lected by the session of the First Presbyterian church to be the Lminister of visitation while Dr. and Mrs. D. K. West are on a trip to Mission stations around the world. Dr. Calhoun is a mem ber of the permanent judicial commission of the denomination, which is the highest court of authority in the Presbyterian church. Many Vacation Bible Schools Will Open Soon FIRST CHRISTIAN The Daily Vacation Bible school at the First Christian church, Ninth st. & Oakdale ave., will begin 'Monday, June 13 at 8:45 a.m. and close at 11:30 a.m. each day, Monday through Fri day, for two weeks. Classes will be held for all children from four years of age through the intermediate age group. Children are invited Jo attend this vaca tion school whether or not they regularly attend the Sunday school. A picnic is set for Thurs day, June 23 at TouVelle park. On the closing day, June 24, a program will be given in the church sanctuary at 7:30 p.m. PHOENIX NAZARENE Phoenix Plans are complete for the annual Daily Vacation Bible school at the Phoenix Church of the Nazarene, church officers have announced. Classes are scheduled from Monday, June 6 through Friday, June 17 and will be held each week day from 9 to 11 a.m. Mrs. Holly Michael will supervise the school and classes are open to children between the ages of 4 through 14. W. V. McArthur is pastor of the church. TEMPLE BAPTISTS Vacation Bible school will open next Monday, June 6, and continue through June 17 at the Temple Baptist church, 794 Lozier lane. The school will fea ture Bible s to r i e s, character stories, memory work, handi work, movies, games and songs. At the close of the school a commencement program to which the public is invited will be held. Zion Lutheran To Have New Schedule Zion Lutheran church, corner of Fourth st. and Oakdale ave., will use a special schedule for the summer months beginning with the services n'ext Sunday and extending through the last Sunday of August. - An early and a later service will be held each Sunday, the former to begin at 8:30 a.m. and the latter at 11 a.m. Sunday school will be held between the services at 9:45 a.m. The Luther leagues' programs will vary, and will be announced as to the time and place of the meetings from week to week. Changes Announced For Sunday Services Beginning Sunday, June 5, a morning matins will be held at 8 o'clock at St. Peter's Lutheran church, 1020 East Main st. ! The Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. Adult Bible study is . conducted for high school boys and girls, and also for adults beyond the high school age. Class sessions will be held for all pre-school children from 9 until 11:15 a.m. Classes for all other ages will be dismissed at noon. Younger children who must wait until noon for trans portation home will be cared for. An opportunity will be given to those not attending the First Baptist Sunday school at the present to pre-register for the school on Saturday, June 4, at the church annex from 10 a.m. to noon, and from 2 to 4 p.m. Those who cannot come Satur day may register on Monday morning. Parents sending pre school children to the Vacation school are asked to pin the child's name and address on his clothing. Activities of the school will include singing, Bible and mis sionary stories, handcraft and recreation. The school will con tinue through June 17, and is open to all interested children and young people of the community. A program for the Cradle roll department will be held Sunday, June 5, at 9:45 a.m., at the First Baptist church. Those who have not been con tacted by phone or card are also asked to attend. NAZARENES The Medford Church of the Nazarene will begin its annual Vacation Bible school Monday, June 6, at 9 a.m., in the educa tional facilities of the church located at Holly and First sts. Mrs. Dora Mae Shepard, who has been superintendent of the Nazarene school for four years, will be in charge again this year. Some of the personnel of the school i n c lu d e s Mrs. Edna Weaver, in charge of transpor tation for those who live in out lying regions; Mrs. Emma Hall, purchasing agent; Mrs. Esther Tompkins, supervisor of begin ners; Mrs. Esther McUne, super visor of the primary depart ment; Mrs. Vivian Starkey, Jun ior department supervisor; Mrs. Ethel Kornstad, adults and youth, a course in "How to Speak and Pray in Public." Loren Scheel, Sunday school superintendent, will be in charge of wood working crafts, and Mrs, Helen Broadbeck and Miss Carol Harris will be in charge of a typing course for older youth who may prefer a beginners business training for their craft period.
